STEWARDSHIP The dishonest manager in today’s parable knew how to manipulate money to his own advantage. But the Gospel warns that no one can serve both God and money. Which do I serve? Did You Know…                                                 The Second Commandment calls us to revere and respect the name of God. Ma hew’s Gospel gives us the clear words of Jesus: “You shall not swear falsely…But I say to you, Do not swear at all…Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or No.” This does not prevent us from taking oaths in a civil place, like court, but rather to not frivolously use the name of the Lord in our daily lives. In Our Parish...

. GOD IS ON THE SIDE OF THE POOR  Two of today’s readings make it quite clear that God is on the side of the poor. Amos describes in detail the exploita on of the poor and needy. The psalm repeats that God acts to benefit the poor and lowly. But Luke turns things upside down, telling a tale of a conflicted steward, about to be fired, who demonstrates his clever-ness and is rewarded. Like the community to whom Paul writes in Timothy, these readings are personal, directed to believers, members of the Jewish and Chris an com-muni es, who struggle to deal with personal choices about how to conduct their lives. They offer an outline for how God wishes us to live in a world as complicated and as confusing as our own. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

SIGN OF CONTRADICTION   A VIDEO ON ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI

Mark your calendar! Saturday, October 5th

SULLIVAN HALL- sea ng begins at 2:00 pm Brought to you courtesy of Sacred Heart Parish and

St. Bonaventure Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order.

St. Francis is known as a lover of peace and of

nature, and this is true. But he also went against all social norms. All that the world said would lead to

happiness, he abandoned for something else, some-thing more. To the world, he first appeared a fool. He

was an outsider, hated and ridiculed by even the people who were supposed to love him the most.

Yet, thousands followed him. Why?

From Camp I Am Special… During the summer camp, the one‐on‐one, 24‐hour sup‐port provided by the high school Buddies makes it possi‐ble for people living with a variety of disabili es to enjoy this incredible experience in a safe and loving environ‐ment. We appreciate the generosity and support of Sacred Heart parishioner, Garris Derosse , and all those who volunteered. Our Camp would not have been as successful without them.
