Sa ety and Health representatives orm a vital link between employers and employees. Theirrole is to enable employers to discuss sa ety and health matters, and to work together withemployees to make the work place sa e.

While it is the employer’s responsibility under the 1989 Act to provide and maintain a sa ework environment and sa e systems o work, the law also says the employer must consult andco-operate with Sa ety Rep’s and other employees about sa ety and health. Similarly, the lawsays Sa ety Rep’s must consult and co-operate with the employer on all matters o sa ety andhealth.
