From the Heart by Fr. Will

Thank you, God, for Ordinary Time

This week we begin Ordinary Time. When we

returned to Ordinary Time, one of my mentors would

always say, “for God, there is no ordinary time; it is

all extraordinary.” So true, yet this year’s Ordinary

Time may have never been so welcomed in our lives.

I think that we would all like ordinary to return. It

seemed in past years when the Church entered into

Ordinary Time after Christmas or Easter Season it

may have felt as if the mystery faded away. But it

seems this year we are looking to welcome “ordinary

time” with open hearts and a new perspective of our

utter dependence on God and our interdependence on

    one another.

The virus has caused a great deal of turmoil in

our individual and collective psyches. Some have

turned to violence and hatred. Violence is never an

acceptable way to approach the difficulties of life.

We must pray evermore for peace and the conversion

    of hearts to the Lord.

Lord, we pray that we can have both an

“ordinary” and extraordinary year of Your Mercy

    and Grace.

    Peace,

    Fr. Will

    Pastoral Notes by Fr. Will

➢ Change in Mass location for two masses – On

Sunday, January 17, 2021, we will have two

indoor masses, one at each of our churches.

➢ Vigil Mass for Life – so that our parish may

participate in the defense of all human life, we

will have a special Vigil Mass of Life on

    Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. at

Saint Alexis Church. We will join millions of

Catholics, Christians, and people of goodwill,

who will pray that day to protect all human life

    and dignity.

➢ Please note the correction of location from last

week’s bulletin for the Vigil Mass For Life will

    be at Saint Alexis Church.

➢ We will have a Praise & Worship hour leading

up to the Vigil Mass for Life. Starting at

    6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021.

    at Saint Alexis Church.

➢ Although, Christmas Season is ended the

Nativity scene inside each of the churches will

remain until February 2, Feast of Presentation

of the Lord. This is so that as our churches open

for mass you will be able to enjoy the Nativity

    scene.

➢ Feast Day of Saint Aidan – Sunday,

January 31, 2021, marks our new parish's first

feast day under Saint Aidan of Ferns' patronage.

All of our masses will be honoring Saint Aidan.

Adoration and Solemn Evening Prayer at

    WE PRAY FOR THE SICK

We entrust to the care of Christ the Divine Physician, those members of our parish families of Saint Aidan who are in need of healing in body, mind or spirit, especially:

    MAY THEY REST IN PEACE

Saint Aidan Parish wishes to extend sympathy to those who mourn the loss of a loved one, especially the souls who recently passed through death: Eugene Delouis (89); Maryan Cronin (78). May the choirs of angels welcome them and, may they find eternal rest.

If you know of a parishioner or have a loved one who is ill, contact the Parish Center at 724.935.4343 to add their name onto the prayer list for four weeks. Intentions may return to the list upon monthly requests.

    PRAYER FOR MARTIN LUTHER

    KING DAY

Lord, God of Abraham, God of the Prophets, God of Love, you created us and you call us

    to live as brothers and sisters. Give us the strength daily to be instruments of peace;

enable us to see everyone who crosses our path as our brother or sister.

Make us sensitive to the plea of [those] who entreat us to turn our weapons of war

into implements of peace, our trepidation into confident trust, and our quarreling into forgiveness.

Keep alive within us the flame of hope, so that with patience and perseverance,

we may opt for dialogue and reconciliation. In this way may peace triumph at last,

and may the words “division”, “hatred” and “war” be banished from the heart of every man and woman.

Lord, defuse the violence of our tongues and our hands. Renew our hearts and minds,

so that the word which always brings us together will be “brother,” and our way of life

will always be that of. . . Peace! Amen.

    Mass for Life

There will be no bus for the March for Life this year. In order for our parish to participate in the defense of all human life, we will have a special Vigil Mass of Life on Thursday, January 28, at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Alphonsus Church. We will join millions of Catholics, Christians, and people of goodwill, who will pray that day to protect all human life

    and dignity. Please join us!

    Parish Office Closed

In honor of Martin Luther King Day, the Parish Office will be closed for the day. If you have an emergency, please contact our answering service at 724.935.4343. Thank you and peace to you and your families.

A special thanks to Brad Amos Dermatology for advertising in our parish bulletin. Please patronize our sponsors or at least, be sure to thank them when you have the opportunity. It is through their support that our weekly bulletin is made possible! May God bless all our benefactors!

    Poor Boxes

In the month of November a total of $1,377 was donated by special donations to assist the Ladies of Charity in caring for members of the parish community facing serious hardship. Through your generosity,

four needy families in the area received hope and resources. We also helped with a donation to the Sharing Tree because we weren’t able to get enough gift cards. Without the ability to give in the poor boxes, the Ladies of Charity welcome any monetary donations. You can mail them to the Parish Center at 10090 Old Perry Highway, Wexford, PA 15090 or you may drop them off at the Parish Center in the front door on the credenza and someone will collect it.

    Thank you for your generosity!
