PARISH REGISTRATION: Welcome all new families and individuals.
Membership is a condition for the reception of the Sacraments of
Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion at St. Benedict, and for the
parish to issue a sponsorship certificate for those asked to be sacramental
sponsors. You must be a registered, contributing member for at least three
(3) months before a certificate will be given.
Registration forms are available in the Parish Office.
SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK: If you are
seriously ill, going in for surgery or weak from old age, you may receive
the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. Please contact Fr. Duong if you
desire to receive this sacrament.
HOSPITAL & NURSING HOME & SHUT-IN VISITS: If you or any
members of your family are sick and in the hospital or a nursing home,
and you’d like Communion brought to them, please call the Parish Office.
FAITH FORMATION: All classes from Pre-K to High School are on
Sundays from 9:30-10:30am in the Parish Hall. For more information
call Lynne McGrath.
RCIA: Please call the Parish Office for more information.
MARRIAGES: Arrangements must be made with a priest/deacon at least
six (6) months in advance. Call the Parish Office for more information.

strength and courage to be His joyful disciples.

DSA 2018 DIOCESAN SUPPORT APPEAL (DSA)
We are now 8 months into the Diocesan Support Appeal campaign,
and as of today 76 of our parishioners have contributed. We need
each of you to help us reach our goal of $23,458.00. Thank you.
HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION: Wednesday, August 15th
is The Assumption of the Blessed
Virgin Mary. This is a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass will be at 12:00 noon and 7:00PM. There is
a sign-up sheet on the entrance table for Altar Servers, Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors. All who
would like to serve please sign-up.
RCIA: Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Are you the one who was baptized in the
Catholic Faith, but has not been confirmed? RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the

PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN Please sign up for the Diocesan required Protecting
God’s Children course. St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is offering two sessions, Tuesday,
August 21th and Thursday, September 6th, from 6:00pm-9:00pm. All St. Benedict ministers and
volunteers are required to take this course. For more information, please call Lynne McGrath at

WHAT IS REQUIRED OF A VOLUNTEER TO WORK WITH CHILDREN IN THE
DIOCESE OF CHARLOTTE?
All volunteers working with children in the diocese are required to have the following four
things:
. Completion of the Protecting God's Children Workshop and on-going monthly updates
via the internet through the Virtus Organization
. A background check conducted by the diocese and paid for by the parish.
. A volunteer profile form which is filled out and kept on file at the parish.
. A copy of the Sexual Misconduct Policy will be given to you. You sign a receipt which
is kept on file at the parish stating that you have read the policy and are keeping the
written policy in your files at home.

and Wake Forest University, recently published two of his books on Amazon.

2) Priesthood: A Call to Service, Sacrifice, and Selflessness. (A resourceful material on the
various dimensions and reflections on the Priesthood).
Both books are very easy to read and affordable. Feel free to get your copies from Amazon as
proceeds from the sales will be used for different charities.
STEPHEN MINISTRY: Greensboro, NC has one of the county’s most unique approaches to
ministering to our homeless brothers and sisters via the Stephen Ministry Program. Partners in
Ministry is now recruiting for the Stephen Ministry training program at Greensboro Urban
Ministry. This training is offered through the Chaplaincy Program to prepare Christian caregivers
to serve our homeless population with the care and love they need to move out of homelessness.
