ST. JOSEPH CHURCH ORADELL/NEW MILFORD, NJ

Compiled by the Liturgy of the Word With Children Committee

The Gospel is the Good News about Jesus. The Gospel Reading for today is from

St. Luke Chapter 24, verses 35-48

After Jesus rose from the dead that first Easter Sunday, he started to appear to his followers. They were amazed and happy to see him. But when he first appeared they thought they were seeing a ghost!

But Jesus said to them “Peace be with you” and “Do not be afraid”. He told them to look at the wounds in his hands and feet and see it was really him. He even sat down with them and had some fish to eat so that he could prove he was no ghost. After all, a ghost does not sit down at a table for dinner.

His disciples were overjoyed that he was with them once more. He proceeded to tell them about the scriptures and about repentance and forgiveness. And he told them to go out and tell all the nations about him. Jesus wants us to continue to tell everyone about him and to continue to spread his good news to everyone.

ATTENTION PARENTS If you would like to help us with the Liturgy of the Word with Children, please join us for a meeting Monday, April 30, at 7:30 pm at the rectory/parish office, 105 Harrison Street. We need people to read, to help usher the children to and from the lower church, to assist with the music, and to help in many other ways, big and small. Come and find out how you might be able to help with this important program. For more information contact ([email protected])

MISSION OF THE WEEK This week say this special prayer before you eat dinner.

Lord Jesus when you rose from the dead, you ate with your friends

and filled their hearts with joy. Be with us as we gather for this meal.

May we feel your loving presence around this table and during this Easter Season. Amen.

Jesus revealed himself to his followers. He told them about the scriptures, repentance, and forgiveness .

He even sat down and ate some grilled fish with them.
