Melendez by Anne Melendez 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time “Jesus said to them, ‘There is no need for them to go away; give them some food yourselves’.” (Matthew 14:16) This is what Jesus said right before he fed the five thousand men. How often do we really place our trust in Jesus when the situation looks grim? With Jesus, no gift is too small or insignificant when offered with love. But, we have to do our part. We should trust that Jesus will provide all that we need. We need to believe that Jesus has a better plan in store for us. PRAYER IN TIME OF PANDEMIC O God, whose Only Begotten Son bore the weight of human suffering for our salvation, hear the prayers of your Church for our sick brothers and sisters and deliver us from this time of trial. Open our ears and our hearts to the voice of your son: Be not afraid, for I am with you always. Bless all doctors and nurses, researchers and public servants; give us the wisdom to do what is right and the faith to endure this hour, that we might gather once again to praise your name in the heart of your Church, delivered from all distress and confident in your mercy. Through Christ our Lord. Amen Thank you for your patience as we continue to maintain our place of worship for everyone safely within the pandemic guidelines listed below… Entrance is front-door only. Every other pew will be available. Please observe the 6’ safe distance in the pew for those not in your household. Masks must be worn. Ushers will be available to help with observing the safe distancing guidelines. At the time of Distribution of Holy Communion, Ushers will direct one row at a time. Please continue to observe the 6’ safe distance. Instead of passing the collection basket, we ask you to place your Envelope/donation in the basket at the front of the Altar either as you arrive or after Mass has ended. Older adults and those with underlying health conditions continue to be advised to avoid public assemblies. The suspension of the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays will remain in force until Dec. 31, 2020. St. Louis Church continues to stream the Saturday 5:00 pm Mass Online. Around the world, women who face unplanned pregnancies or who have experienced abortion or miscarriage, suffer psychological stress. Since 2014, Crisis Pregnancy Center has provided a wide range of long-term help to hundreds of women: counseling, job search assistance, life skills training and infant care. Local organizations, with the help of CCEE, are accompanying the most vulnerable women and helping them to choose life, even in their time of greatest need. 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time

“Jesus said to them, ‘There is no need for them to go away; give them some food yourselves’.” (Matthew 14:16) This is what Jesus said right before he fed the five thousand men. How often do we really place our trust in Jesus when the situation looks grim? With Jesus, no gift is too small or insignificant when offered with love. But, we have to do our part. We should trust that Jesus will provide all that we need. We need to believe that Jesus has a better plan in store for us.

PRAYER IN TIME OF PANDEMIC

O God, whose Only Begotten Son bore the weight of human suffering for our salvation, hear the prayers of your Church for our sick brothers and sisters and deliver us from this time of trial.

Open our ears and our hearts to the voice of your son: Be not afraid, for I am with you always.
