OUR OBLIGATIONS FOR MASSES THIS ADVENT & CHRISTMAS
As you know the 4th Sunday of Advent is celebrated by the Church this year on the 23rd and the morning of the 24th of Decem-ber. The celebration of Christmas begins on the afternoon of the 24th and continues into Monday the 25th of December, Christmas Day.
As disciples of the Lord, and good stewards of all that we have received, we are called to return to God a portion of the good things we have received to God himself. In addition to our talent and our treasure, an essential portion of our life as good stewards is our time, time for worship even amidst the many demands placed upon us in this month of December.
Also, our journey through this time of Advent preparation which the Church has provided for us is only completed with the cele-bration of the Fourth Sunday of Advent.
While we recognize the difficulty for many in coming to Holy Mass twice in three days, the Church calls upon us to prioritize these days of Grace for us, for our families, and for our communities, and join with us in being good stewards, by returning that portion of our commitment to worship at Holy Mass with our brothers and sisters in the Lord.
LITURGICAL SCHEDULE FOR CHRISTMAS
Our parish community will gather to celebrate the Nativity of
our Lord Jesus Christ with the following schedule of liturgies:
Sunday, December 24 – Christmas Eve
4:00 PM – Christmas Mass
9:30 PM – Choral Prelude
10:00 PM – Christmas Mass
Monday, December 25 – Christmas Day
9:00 AM – Christmas Mass
11:00 AM – Christmas Mass
PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL NOT BE AN 11:00AM
MASS ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 24TH.
CHRISTMAS EVE CHORAL PRELUDE AT 9:30 PM
On Christmas Eve, Saint Mary’s Choir will be singing a se-lection of Christmas carols and hymns as a prelude to the 10:00 PM Mass. We invite everyone to arrive a little earlier before the liturgy to savor the sounds and the lyrics of these beautiful compositions that are part of our Christian heritage. Mr. Daniel Zabinski and the mem-bers of our choir have prepared a repertoire of carols that represent a range of styles from Christian tradition. We invite you to come, listen and enjoy the music that nurtured the faith of generations of Christians before us within the prayerful surrounding of our beautiful church as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

PRAYER FOR FAMILY FAITH FORMATION MOST HOLY TRINITY
We adore You and praise You, for Your plan is ever per-fect and Your promises are ever faithful. We dedicate the Family Faith Formation Program to Your honor and glory. We seek to be Your obedient servants. Teach us to yield to Your will and guide us in the truths of the Catholic Faith. Refresh us and keep us steadfast in your mission to help Your fam-ilies know You and live the Catholic Faith. United as Core Group, we lift these intentions and place them into Your loving hands. We implore Your mercy, help, and grace. We trust You completely and surrender all our requests to Your divine will and merciful care. Help us trust Your perfect timing. Send Your Spirit to touch each of these lives, trials, and circum-stances. We ask for an outpouring of Your Holy Spirit on our world and a new awakening to Your love and mercy. Strengthen our fam-ilies as a witness to Your love. With gratitude and confidence, through Christ our Lord, we pray. Amen
Please pray for the volunteers, catechists, families, and children involved in Family Formation. Please also include in your prayers Fr. Nick, Fr. Dennis, Deacon John, and the staff. “Prayers are stronger than any trouble here on earth could ever be

FAMILY LIFE HAPPENINGS……
GOT HEAT? An unfortunate reality dur-ing these cold winter months is that some individuals here in the Blackstone Valley spend their nights in homeless shel-ters but must find warm places to stay during the day. A $5 Gift Card to McDonalds or Dunkin Donuts can be the key for some to stay warm during the daytime hours. A St. Mary’s Light Of The World Small Faith Group is coordinating the distribution of $5 McDonalds or Dunkin Donuts gift cards to our homeless neighbors in need. If you would like to help, please drop off gift cards at the parish office. Cards will be distributed as they are received throughout these cold winter months. Bake sale after masses December 16 & 17 and all proceeds will go to this effort. If you can "bake an extra" this holiday season, please do and drop off at the parish office "bake" table December 15 & 16. Thank you. St Mary’s Playgroup–Mom’s and Dad’s at home with young chil-dren? Let’s organize something fun! Email Patti and we will get the ball rolling… And…Looking for families that may be interested in starting a babysitting co-op. Please call or email Patti for more info [email protected] 508-736-5083.
IN THIS SEASON OF SHARING, AND CARING
If you know someone, (or this may be you) who may be struggling at this time of year due to grief, loss and
loneliness, St Mary's Parish is looking to gather those individuals or families for a Christmas Meal on Christmas Day after the 11:00am Mass. For more information, donations or if you wish to help, please call or email Patti Kane - [email protected] - 508-736-5083. Come join us as we celebrate our Lord’s birth and share a meal amongst friends.
During the weeks leading up to the beginning of Advent; The Knights of Columbus Council 1562 will be holding a
fundraiser with "Keep Christ in Christmas" magnets for your vehicle. A donation of $5 for each magnet would assist with our fundraiser. Magnets will be available at the entrances and exits of the Church. With the current business commercialization of our Holy Season being more rampant than ever; please place the magnet on your vehicle now and through the Great Feast of the Epiphany to show the true meaning of Christmas.
CHRISTMAS COLLECTION
MYTH: The Christmas offering is given directly to the pastor
FACT: The offering that is taken up at all the Christmas Mass-es is used to fund the many ministries and varied works of our parish. Some still have the impression that the Christmas offering is given to the pastor. This practice was abolished in the Diocese of Worcester in the 1970s. Today, the entire Christmas offering is used to support the work of the parish. Thank you for all that you do to support the works of Saint Mary Parish..
Please Note: There will be two collections on Christmas week-end. One will be for the regular Sunday Collection; the other will be for the Christmas Collection mentioned above.

EPIPHANY OPEN HOUSE
Saint Mary Rectory
Sunday, January 7, 2018 Noon – 2:00 pm
Please join with us on Sunday, January 7 anytime between noon and 2:00 pm to celebrate this joyous season as a parish family. The open house is a
great opportunity for us to share some time together with our fellow parishioners as we continue in the celebration of our Savior’s coming into the world. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome!
THE THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT IS KNOWN AS “GAUDETE SUNDAY.”
The third Sunday of Advent is called "Gaudete" Sun-day (coming from the first word of the Latin Entrance Antiphon for this day, meaning "Rejoice") and the liturgical color may be
rose instead of purple. This is the Church's way of further heighten-ing our expectation as we draw ever nearer the Solemnity of Christ-mas.
. On our Advent wreath, the rose candle lit on the 3rd Sunday of Advent, the mid-point of the season, represents the joy we are called to embrace as we await the coming of Christmas. The pro-gressive lighting of the candles symbolizes the hope surrounding our Lord’s first coming into the world and the anticipation of his second coming at the end of time, when his victorious light will conquer eve-ry darkness. Our parish Advent wreath invites us not to lose sight of the true meaning of Christmas.
