Lent begins Wednesday, March 6th.
March 6
Ash Wednesday Masses
7:15 am, 9:00 am
12:10 pm, 6:30 pm
Saint Peter Catholic School students will be attending the 9:00 am Mass.
Abstinence -- Catholics 14 and older are bound to the obligation of abstinence. Abstinence is to be observed on Ash Wednesday and on ALL Fridays of Lent. On days of abstinence, meat may not be used at all.
Fast -- Catholics 18 to 60 are bound to the obligation of fasting.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fasting. On these days, only one full meal is allowed. In view of the significance of Ash Wednesday, although it is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation, the obligation of fast and abstinence must naturally be the priority in the Catholic community.
Lent begins Wednesday, March 6
Ash Wednesday! It's a time of simplicity, setting aside distractions, and diversions drawing back to the basics: prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
We are called not just to abstain from sin during Lent, but to true conversion of our hearts and minds as follow-ers of Jesus Christ. The giving of ourselves in the midst of suffering and self-denial brings us closer to loving like Christ, who suffered and poured himself out unconditional-ly on the cross for all of us.
Lent is a journey through the desert to the foot of the cross on Good Friday, as we seek Him out, ask His help, join in His suffering, and learn to love like Him. Let us together enter into Lent with our eyes fixed on Easter.
If you would like to bring in your palms from last year, there is a basket in the Narthex.
We will be burning the palms prior to Ash Wednesday.

Phishing Scam Alert!
There have been several instances where scammers have pretended to be one of our priests over email or text message asking recipients for information, money, gift cards, etc.
Please know that our priests will not contact you for help in this way.
Unfortunately this is not limited to a few people or even to our parish. You can find many instances in the news all over the world where this type of “phishing” scam is occurring.
Many people can share stories of someone they know who has been convinced to send someone they thought they knew iTunes gift card numbers or some other type of electronic funds. Help protect yourself:
• Be wary of emails and text messages that seem odd or abnormally urgent.
• Always verify the source of any request for information or money.
• Hover over links before clicking on them to be sure they are taking you where they claim to.
• When in doubt, don’t click or reply, just delete!

DYNAMIC CATHOLIC PARISH CHAMPION PROGRAM
Stop by the Dynamic Catholic Resource table for this month's book (one per family, please):
"Life's Greatest Lesson" by Allen R. Hunt.
Something is missing. You are not whole just yet. What if you had a need in your life that turned out to be the greatest need of all? A need that you unexpectedly discovered, almost by accident? What
if that need, when satisfied, grew into the most deeply rewarding aspect of your life?
You do have such a need. And when you satisfy this need, your life will be transformed in ways you could never imagine. You will never have to worry about ending your life like Ebenezer Scrooge, full of bitterness and regret. Because you will have found the cure for selfishness, for anxiety, for sluggishness, and even for anger.
That transformation will propel you toward becoming the-best-version-of-yourself. Best of all, you will lead a life full of love. You will have discovered life’s greatest lesson.
This book, and the parable Allen Hunt shares in it, will show you how to get the most out of your life—how to return to the grace of who you really are.
Please do not remove anything from the walls
or the kitchen (including the refrigerator) in
the SLC. Please check with the Parish Office
or the Ministry Lead first.

Knights of Columbus / America Red Cross Blood Drive
On Sunday, March 3rd, the K of C will hold their quarterly blood drive at the St. Peters Spiritual Life Center from 9 AM - 2 PM. During the past several years we have been fortunate and grateful to average approximately 25 -30 donors. Statistics in the United States show us that someone is in need of blood every two seconds and the reasons are numerous; from cancer to trauma, GI bleeds and surgery, sickle cell disease and other hematologic issues. Our hope is to increase parish participation and surpass the number of donors in the past. Give it some thought and visit the American Red Cross for more information. www.redcrossblood.org
