Prayer for the Week Immaculate Heart of Mary, full of love for God and mankind, I consecrate myself to you.
Growing in Grace Immaculate Heart of Mary
“And since we are aware of our weakness, our frequent falls and our distance from God, we turn to Mary Our Mother to obtain all kinds of graces for us and others.” - St. Maximilian Kolbe
So, Do You Want to Become a Saint? According to St. Thomas Aquinas, if you want to become a saint you must will it. This is easier said than done, but St. Thomas has a point. We must will it; we must work every day toward The Eternal. St. Thomas Aquinas tells us what we must become, and St. Maximilian Kolbe tells us how: “W+w=S”. The capital W stands for God’s Will and the small w stands for our will. (“When the two wills are united, they equal Sanctity.” -St. Maximilian Kolbe).
All throughout his life, St. Maximilian Kolbe repeated this formula and lived it out until the end of his days, imitating the one person who lived out God’s will to perfection: the Blessed Virgin Mary. St. Maximilian Kolbe often called her Our Little Mother. When Kolbe was a young boy, he often got into trouble. One day as he was praying, the Virgin Mary appeared to him and offered him two crowns. She asked him to choose one, the crown of white martyrdom or the crown of red martyr-dom. He chose both and from that day on he lived his life anchored to Mary.
On August 14, 1941, Kolbe was martyred in Auschwitz by lethal injec-tion. He was later canonized on October 10, 1982 by Pope St. John Paul II. Today he is referred to as the Saint and Martyr of Charity. St. Maximilian Kolbe often said, “I don’t just want to give God glory, but the greatest glory.” The best way to give glory to God is to unite ourselves to our Blessed Mother. Her whole life was a testament to us on how to be true disciples. (“Our Lady was assumed into heaven body and soul because she was Immaculate; she was all pure—free not only from every shadow of sin, but even from the slightest attachment to earthly things.” -Father Gabriel of St. Mary Magdalen, O.C.D.)
As a priest, St. Maximilian Kolbe would instruct the other friars to con-secrate themselves to Mary and to join the Militia Immaculata, an army of people who would give God the greatest glory. Their goal was the conversion of the whole world, one friar at a time, through the imita-tion of Our Lady.

Many of those who have attended go on to volunteer to serve on future ACTS Retreats. Why? The answer is simple. ACTS retreats provide an opportunity for men to experience the love of God in a very powerful way. Men are given tools that help them to become better husbands, better fathers, better friends, better men. These tools enable the man to take charge of his role as the spiritual leader of his family. Come and join the over 500 people who have made an ACTS Retreat and make some lifelong friends, who will not only care about you and your families, but men who will have your backs whenever you need them.

The Joy of Life Revealed Zach, a 12 year old, was caught in the crossfire of a drug deal gone bad. He was rushed to emergency surgery in Abilene, placed in a drug-induced coma, and then transferred to another hospital on a ven"lator. Zach’s prognosis was poor, and part of his brain had to be removed during surgery. A week later, the hospital convened an ethics commi#ee, an en"ty under Texas law that has the power to terminate a pa"ent’s care a$er 10 days. It was the commi#ee’s opinion that any further care for Zach would be fu"le, and moved to terminate care. Zach’s parents pleaded for the hospital to give him "me to recover but they wouldn’t budge. Then Zach was moved to another hospital to con"nue the fight.
Three days a$er that, Zach was able to breathe on his own. Over "me, he became fully conscious, was talking, and receiving physical therapy. Zach’s recovery is a victory for Life, and a tes"mony that we should fight for all innocent human life without making arbitrary quality of life judgements
We celebrate the miracle of Zach’s recovery and pray thatall life will remain sacred un"l God decides it is "me.

Christ Child Bakery Returns This Weekend!Join us for Coffee Hour after 7:30 and 9:30 AM Masses The Christ Child Society of Dallas-Fort Worth is bringing the monthly Bakery back, starting August 18! Please join us for yummy treats, cof-fee, and fellowship after the 7:30 and 9:30 Masses.
How can you help the Christ Child Society? So many ways! 1. We are looking for volunteers to read with the children of Central Elementary School in Lewisville. All we need is 30 minutes of your time (plus driving to and from the school) once a week, and you will directly be making a difference in the life of a child. Can't commit to the same day every week? Not a problem, you can read to the same child(ren) weekly but on different days! How flexible is that?
2. Our Layette program, which provides a "baby shower in a bag" to needy families, is always looking for newborn diapers, wipes, digital thermometers and more. Your donations are greatly appreciated and directly benefit our community.
3. Enjoy socializing after Mass? Then put on one of our red aprons and help out with our monthly Bakery! Funds from the bakery in large part support our Layette program.
