Over 1,100 members responded. Now you can review the findings.

SALARY SURVEY 2016 - KEY FINDINGS

The Panel is delighted to work with Chartered Accountants Ireland Leinster Society to bring you the 2016 Salary Survey. Some of the main findings of the survey are as follows:

• Average Salary Package (base salary + car or car allowance + bonus) for a Chartered Accountant in

Leinster is ¤109,756. This is an increase of almost 9% on the 2015 figure of ¤100,780.

• The Average Salary Package for a Chartered Accountant in their first year post-qualification taking

a position in industry stands at ¤56,800. The Average Salary Package for a Chartered Accountant in

their first year post-qualification taking a position in financial services is ¤58,100.

• 75% of respondents have seen their salary increase by at least 10% over the last three years.

• Most Chartered Accountants work in industry, business and financial services – 76% of respondents work in these sectors, while 24% work in practice.

• 41% of respondents have been promoted in the last three years, compared to 49% responding this way in 2015.

• Members are more confident than ever with 88% finding the jobs market positive.

• The more experienced Chartered Accountants working in industry are beginning to be on par or getting paid slightly more than their financial services counterparts.

• Average Base Salary - 104,426 – total of the 58 respondents’ base salaries in this category, divided by 58.

• % who received bonus - 55% 32 respondents got a bonus, so percentage is 55%.

• Average bonus received – 40,641 – The average bonus received by the 32 respondents who received a bonus.

• % receiving a car allowance - 10% Percentage of total number of respondents (6) from the 58 respondents who received a car allowance.

• Average car allowance received - 12,917 – The average car allowance received by the 6 respondents who received a car allowance.

• % with cars – In this example four respondents had a company car (as opposed to receiving a car allowance), so percentage is 7%.

• Average YOQ – Average year of qualification.

• Average Salary Package - 128,874 – The total compensation (base salary, bonuses, car allowances and cars (allocating a value of 10,000 per company car) of all 58 respondentsdivided by total number (58) of respondents.

Where someone receives a car as distinct from a car allowance, we have given it a value of 10,000. For example, if someone has a basic salary of 60,000, a bonus of 5,000 and a company car, the total salary package is: 75,000 ( 60,000 + 5,000 + 10,000).
