Winter weather is upon us! In the event of winter weather, the church office will follow the West Shore School District’s (WSSD) delay & in-person instruction cancellation schedule. Sunday service cancellations will be broadcast on WHTM 27 & WGAL 8. The closings for the church will only be broadcast on the stations’ apps and websites. Church closures will no longer be broadcast on the TV stations. If the WSSD cancels all evening activities, the church will cancel all evening activities as well. If the School district does not cancel evening activities, all group cancellations will be at the discretion of each group leader and he/she will be responsible for contacting the members of the group.

UPCOMING SERMONS:

Feb 7 —Do you want to be healed? On day, Jesus met a man who was so sick he could not care for himself for 38 years. Jesus asked him, “Do you want to be healed?” It was an obvious question to ask, and of course the man wanted to be healed by Jesus. So why did Jesus ask the man if he wanted to be healed if the answer was so obvious? We will learn that true healing has more to do with our spirits than it does with our bodies.

Feb 14 —“Do you Love me?” Jesus asked Peter three times if Peter loved him. Peter’s response is very noncommittal in nature. We will example Peter’s response and look at our on response as Jesus asks us, “Do you love me?”

Feb 17– “Heartwork” Ash Wednesday Service at 7 pm in the Sanctuary. COVID-19 precautions advise congregations to refrain from the practice of imposing/distributing ashes for the Lenten season. This year you will receive something to take with you to remind you of “heart work” during the Lenten journey toward Easter, when we will be focusing on Christ and renewing our relationship with God and others through Christian practices.

Because YOU CARED the pastoral staff and prayer team have been able to respond to your needs and the needs of others in our church family. Thank you for sharing that you or someone you know at Salem had surgery or was coping with a loss or other difficult life situation. Please continue to share this information on the Connection card. It is better for us to have the information from multiple messages than not at all. Thank you!

Pastor Les knows, as a pastor, a few times a year, someone goes into the hospital. But no one knows where or when an emergency happens at church and a call needs to be made to a family member. Without emergency contact info and accurate phone numbers, receiving pastoral care in a timely manner becomes a challenge. Hopefully we would never need to use your emergency contact, yet having it on hand at the church can make a world of difference in a time of need. Glory to the Risen Lord! Salem will continue the tradition of decorating the Sanctuary & Fellowship Hall with flowers on Easter Sunday, April 4. The flowers will be placed in the church for Easter and may be taken home after the 8:15 service in the Sanctuary or the 11:00 service in Fellowship Hall. Order forms are available on the infomation rack outside Fellowship Hall. The DEADLINE for ordering is February 21.

Food Pop-Up—Salem will again distribute non-perishable food boxes on Thursday, February 4th at 4pm. Please contact Pastor Jenny if you would like to help at jthomas@fcsalem.org or 717-938-1928.

The United Methodist Women will have their meeting on Feb 11, at

6:30 pm via zoom. Details to come. Officers will be installed for 2021.

Right Now Media If: Gathering 2021 Right Now Media is offering its IF:Gathering 2021, Women’s Conference free to Right Now Media Users. Fishing Creek Salem UM Church Partnerships Areo Energy—a propane provider, will donate four cents to your house of worship for every gallon of propane purchased. If you receive your propane from Aero Energy, be sure to request FCSUMC as your house of worship. Community Aid- helping neighbors by accepting donations to create quality jobs, offer an affordable shopping experience, and support non-profit part-ners serving our local community. FCSUMC receives a donation of four cents/ pound of CLOTHING (ONLY) dropped in the bin at FCSUMC. If you drop off at the store the donation is six cents/pound. Clothing must be separated from other items for the donation to be applied. Our partnership number is 10409. Salem Community Nursery School has a few openings left for the 2021/22 school year. There is a 3 year old class (AM—T/W/Th); two PreK classes (AM or PM—T/W/Th) and an advanced PreK class on Mondays.
