〔スピーチコミュニケーションⅠ〕�◆授業概要　This�course� is�based�on�a� topic�based�syllabus�where�students�will� learn�vocabulary,� languagestructures�and�functions�commonly�used�with�each�topic.�Students�will�perform�activities�using�the� languagecovered,�such�as�group�tasks�or�role�plays.�The�course�is�open�to�all�students�and�the�language�and�activities�areset�for�pre-Intermediate�levels.◆学修到達目標　This�course� is�aimed�at� improving�communication�skills�with�a�focus�on�speaking�and� listening.Efforts�will�be�directed�at�using�English�in�a�natural�context.�Grades�will�be�based�on�participation,�a�writing�andspeaking�test.◆授業方法　Each�class,�the� instructor�will�give� instructions�and�examples�to�follow�as�each�topic� is� introduced.Students�will�prepare� for�their� tasks� in�the�aim�of�executing�the�goal� for�that�day.� Individual�style�vocabularylearning�will�take�place�from�time�to�time.�A�majority�of�the�time�will�be�spent�communicating�with�other�studentsusing�the�material�covered�in�class.

１回授業内容 Welcome to Speech Communication 1事前学修 The�course�outline�will�be�introduced�followed�by�class�introductions.事後学修 Study�class�language�from�the�handouts�given.

２回授業内容 Prepare to greet students and ask and answer icebreaking questions.事前学修 Students�will�gather�information�from�each�other�by�walking�around�asking�questions.事後学修 Go�over�the�notes�given�for�Topic�1.

３回授業内容 Topic 1 relates to verb structures within the day to day language of one’s daily routines.事前学修 Students�will�listen�to�audio,�fill�in�the�blanks�of�conversation�and�practice�the�role�play.�事後学修 Complete�exercises�given�for�homework.

４回授業内容 Prepare to give your homework answers in class.事前学修 The�aim�of�the�lesson�is�to�conduct�a�survey�with�the�question�forms�already�covered.事後学修 Prepare�general�findings�from�the�survey�you’ve�conducted.

授業内容 Prepare for verbalizing a report of the previous day’s survey.

事前学修 Students�will� report� the� findings�of� the�survey� in�a�group�and�will�continue�a�general�discussion�on�movies.�

事後学修 Research�the�questions�given�about�movies.

授業内容 Search IMDB files on The Story of Ned Kelly.

事前学修 Students�will�change�verbs�to�their�past�tense.�Listen�to�a�recording�of�a�2�paragraph�story�and�fill�in�the�blanks�with�those�words.

事後学修 Finish�the�homework�activity�as�a�follow-up�for�today’s�lesson.

７回授業内容 Review your notes on character-driven stories.事前学修 Topic�2�continues�with�phrasal�verbs�and�creating�short�stories�with�said�verbs.事後学修 Practice�saying�Story�A�and�Story�B�aloud.

授業内容 Prepare for the warm up activity, “the best part of my day was...”

事前学修 The�aim�of� the� lesson� is� to� learn�about�plot�points�and�using�these� ideas�to�create�stories� to�be�verbalized�to�the�group.

事後学修 Research�information�for�your�Movie�Report.

９回授業内容 Prepare your Movie Report plot for teacher-approval. 事前学修 Discuss�Movie�Report�questions�in�groups.事後学修 Finish�the�Movie�Report�due�next�class.

授業内容 Prepare your Movie Report for submission. The value is 10% of the class mark.

事前学修 Movie�Reports�will�be�verbally�presented�in�a�group�of�three.�Students�are�expected�to�take�notes�while�listening.

事後学修 Review�notes�for�the�next�class,�Topic�3,�Personality.

11 回授業内容 Study the required personality vocabulary.事前学修 Students�are�expected�know�and�use�the�targeted�language�in�order�to�talk�about�people�they�know.事後学修 Prepare�questions�for�an�in-class�survey.

12回授業内容 Study Appearance vocabulary. 事前学修 Listen�to�the�role�play�and�fill�in�the�missing�dialogue.�Role�play�it�with�a�partner.事後学修 Review�notes�on�Appearance.

13回授業内容 Prepare to brainstorm your vocabulary in a group.事前学修 Conduct�a�question�and�answer�form�about�Appearance�and�Personality.事後学修 Prepare�all�of�the�term’s�notes�for�review.

14回授業内容 Have all of your notes in time order so you can easily complete the term review provided.事前学修 The�teacher�will�give�you�a�review�guide�to�help�you�prepare�for�next�class’�exams.事後学修 Study�for�your�respective�tests.

15回授業内容 Prepare your answers for the speaking test.事前学修 Speaking�and�writing�classes�will�be�given.事後学修 Look�forward�to�a�successful�grade.
