SAP Note 1324838 - Enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0:Required SWC

Note Language: English Version: 23 Validity: Valid Since 19.06.2012

Summary

Symptom

You want to install dedicated parts of SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP

ERP 6.0.

Other terms

Business Function, Technical Usage, Vertical Stack, Software Component

Installation, Enhancement Package 5 Installation

Reason and Prerequisites

You want to use enhancements delivered with SAP enhancement package 5 for

SAP ERP 6.0 ("EhP5").

Enhancements are activated due to Business Functions.

In order to use those enhancements you need to update dedicated software

components of your SAP System. You know which Business Function to use and want to identify the needed

Software Components which have to be upgraded in order to use the

respective enhancements.

You have to identify and install the corresponding Technical Usage to

enable the Business Function.

You need SAP enhancement package 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0

with minimum SP stack level 23. Your system landscape is maintained

properly in your Solution Manager. To maintain the system landscape use the

transaction SMSY in the Solution Manager System.

SolutionA Business Function is always enabled by installing a Technical Usage.

A Technical Usage is a logical grouping of ABAP software components, Java

software components, XI Content, or Portal Content.

In order to implement a Technical Usage, you have to have an SAP ERP 6.0

system in place, or you are in the process of upgrading your system

landscape to SAP ERP 6.0. See the Master Guide for SAP enhancement package

5 for SAP ERP 6.0 for more details.

If you are in the course of an upgrade to SAP ERP 6.0, you may include

parts (i.e. "Technical Usages") of the Enhancement Package directly in the

upgrade.

The procedure is supported by the SAP Solution Manager (note 1155041) and

is described in the ERP Upgrade Guide at:

https://service.sap.com/erp-upgrade -> SAP ERP Upgrade Guides.

Identify the appropriate technical usage with the help of the attached

mapping document 'EhP5_BF_TU_Mapping.pdf'.

Solution Manager Maintenance Optimizer (MOPz)

Use the Solution Manager Maintenance Optimizer (Transaction DSWP) to

o select the needed Technical Usages you need to install to use the

Business Functions of interest

o calculate a consistent target state of your system landscape,

o calculate all needed Software Components and required Support

Packages

SAP Note 1324838 - Enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0:Required SWC

o download all these calculated packages with the Download Manager

Be aware, the Solution Manager Maintenance Optimizer will calculate valid

import queues for each system in charge (that is, all physical systems

which are comprised in the Product System you select at the beginning of

the MOPz transaction). The attached mapping documents gives you the

information to identify the needed Technical Usages. Furthermore, they tell

you which Software Components will be updated when selecting a certain

Technical Usage in MOPz.

SAP recommends implementing SAP enhancement packages for SAP ERP 6.0 as

part of a regular SP stack implementation.

An Enhancement Package contains

o Corrections from the corresponding, equivalent SP Stacks and

o On top of that further objects touched by the SAP ERP Enhancement

Package development (besides new objects introduced)

More About Required and Included Support Packages

SAP Enhancement Package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0 (EHP5) is shipped as a Delta

shipment to SAP Enhancement Package 4 SAP ERP 6.0. Therefore, the import

queue calculated by MOPz will contain all needed Enhancement Package

components as well as all Support packages which are prerequisite for

successfully installing the new versions of the selected software

components.

Example:

Let us assume, your system is on ERP 6.0 SPS07 and your selection

comprises the software component SAP_APPL 605. Then, the queue will

contain the following packages: SAP_APPL 605, SAP_APPL 604,

SAP_APPL 603, SAP_APPL 600 SP08

For all other software components (which you do not wish to update to the

new version), MOPz calculates the support package level which corresponds

to the corrections contained in the EHP software component.

The initial delivery of EHP5 software components contains all corrections

which are also delivered with SP16 of the underlying ERP 6.0 software

component, so we call the correction levels to be corresponding or

equivalent.

Example:

The following Support Package Stacks are corresponding from a

correction point of view:

- EhP4 SPS01 - EhP3 SPS03 - EhP2 SPS04 - SAP ERP 6.0 SPS14

- EhP4 SPS02 - EhP3 SPS04 - EhP2 SPS05 - SAP ERP 6.0 SPS15

This means e.g. for the Software component EA-APPL the followingcorresponding support package states from a correction point of

view:

Page 3: sapnote_0001324838_EHP5

- EA-APPL 604 SP01 - EA-APPL 603 SP03 - EA-APPL 602 SP04 -

EA-APPL 600 SP14

- EA-APPL 604 SP02 - EA-APPL 603 SP04 - EA-APPL 602 SP05 -

EA-APPL 600 SP15

All software components in the SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0

contains the corrections which have been shipped in SP Stacks 14, 15, and

16 of the underlying SAP ERP 6.0 software component.

Please refer to note 1064635 for details on the equivalence SP- and

stack-level concept.

If now the corrections included in EHP5 correspond to ERP 6.0 SP Stack

level 16, SAP recommends to update also the parts of your system to SP

Stack level 16 which you do not want to update to EHP5 to achieve a

consistent correction level in all parts of your application: SAP

recommends to update all software components to the correction statuscorresponding to SAP ERP 6.0 Support Package Stack 16 with the installation

of SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0.

If you do not use components in your system (for example, industry solution

components), you may treat these components according to your regular

maintenance procedures. For that, you can carefully deselect the

corresponding support packages in the MOPz transaction.

 ABAP Installation

For ABAP, installing SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0 and applying

support package stacks should be done combined in one queue the SAP

enhancement package installer (SAPehpi).

Java Installation

For Java, installing SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0 and applying

support package stacks should be done combined in one queue.

If Portal Content is required, SAP recommends installing all Portal

Content. However, you may choose your content more specifically if you are

familiar with the application in charge.

Hub System

We call a SAP NetWeaver system (Java based) a Hub system, if multiple

business applications are deployed upon it. The business applications

themselves may run against multiple application back-end systems (e.g.

ECC-Server, SRM-Server, ...).

SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal may be an example. During update or

maintenance procedures the system behavior is as follows:

- An update of the technology stack (SAP NetWeaver) keeps the SAP

Business Suite application part untouched, that means there is

no update of the SAP Business Suite application part needed.

- An update of the SAP Business Suite application enforce always

the respective back-end application, thereby both applications

are synchronously.

-

Example: If innovation is application driven, the SAP NetWeaver hub system

stays stable on release 7.0 or 7.01(if it was before).

Local Sidecar System

We call a SAP NetWeaver system (Java based) a sidecar system, if it is

exclusively dedicated to one back-end system. This might be an SAP

NetWeaver Enterprise Portal with SAP XSS which is exclusively used together

with a unique back-end system(e.g. ECC-Server). Other application back-end

systems cannot use this SAP NetWeaver system.

During update or maintenance procedures the system behavior is as follows:

- Technology stack (SAP NetWeaver) and the SAP Business Suite

application part are both updated synchronously. As a resultboth systems are on the same technology level as well as the

same SP Stack level.

Summary:

Hub: the Java technology of SAP NetWeaver will stay stabil on the current

release (7.0 or 7.01).

Sidecar: the SAP Solution Manager Maintenance Optimizer chooses the Java

technology of EHP2 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0.

 Note

The maintenance optimizer of the SAP solution manager calculates all

options for updating and enhancing the systems automaticly.

Others

If content of any kind is not mandatory for running enhanced business

applications you may additionally select technical usages for "Portal

Content" , Portal Content Common", "Portal Content Self Services","XI

content" and/or "BI content".

It is recommended to use the technical usage "Portal Content Common" and"Portal Content" together with

E-Recruiting on ECC Server

ERecruiting Stand-Alone

Public Sector Accounting

Strat. Enterpr. Mgmt Stand-alone.

If XI Content is required, SAP recommends installing all XI Content.

If BI Content is required, install the latest BI Content version available.

Update of Software component EA-DFPS

If you install or update the software component EA-DFPS be aware that

SAP Note 1324838 - Enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0:Required SWC

functionality of EA-DFPS is not switched. Thus, changes in EA-DFPS are

visible immediately after installation.

 Add-Ons

If you have Add-Ons installed in your system, refer to note 1318299.

Miscellaneous: Installation of the Technical Usage "Self Service"

on a dual stack system.

The Technical Usage "Self Services" contains only JAVA parts and no ABAP

parts, it make no sense to install this on a double stack system.

If you want to install the TU "Self Services" on a double stack system it

is important to select both TUs "HCM Services" and "Self Services",

otherwise your upgrade runs into errors.
