Data usage

fusion 5 and fusion 10 Internet plans includes 100 GB of monthly data. If you go over

100 GB, your account will be subject to additional data usage fees; however, there are

no restrictions on download speeds. You will be automatically charged $20 for up to

an additional 25 GB of data until you reach monthly usage of 200 GB. At that point, you

can opt in to pay-per-use charges of $3 per GB for continued access to your fusion

Internet service.

Additional data usage fees help to support network improvements, so we can provide

fast Internet access without restricting download speeds for heavy users. This ensures

a high-quality Internet experience while making sure you only pay for the Internet

service you use.

How Data Usage Charges Work

DATA TIER PRICE

0 GB to 100 GB Starting at $79.95/month

100 GB to 125 GB $20/month

125 GB to 150 GB $20/month

150 GB to 175 GB $20/month

175 GB to 200 GB $20/month

200 GB and higher $3/GB

Set your notification preferences so you will be notified by text and/or email when

you’re close to using up the 100 GB of included data as well as at each additional 25 GB

of data used.

Managing your SaskTel services with mySASKTEL

Setting up your services

What’s Using Your Data?

Many devices in your home, such as computers, smartphones, gaming systems,

Blu-ray® players, and smart TVs, use data for updates and regular day-to-day

use. Also, given the popularity of streaming services, you’ll use about 1 GB of data

per hour for SD video and up to 3 GB per hour for HD video. If you include music

streaming, downloads, Internet browsing, emails, and program updates, you can use

a lot of data in a month without realizing it.

Keep up to date and monitor your data usage at any time by going to

sasktel.com/myusage from a computer connected to the fusion Internet service.

Or, you can check your usage through your free mySASKTEL account.

Setting Data Usage Notification Preferences

Set your data usage notification preferences and manage your account using

mySASKTEL or call 1.800.SASKTEL.

fusion Extended Plans

fusion Extended 5 and fusion Extended 10 Internet plans include unlimited data. Once

you reach 200 GB of data in a billing period, your download speeds will be reduced to

2 Mbps and upload speeds to 256 Kbps. No additional charge for usage over 200 GB.

fusion Extra Plans

fusion Extra 5 and fusion Extra 10 Internet plans include unlimited data. Once you

reach 250 GB of data in a billing period, your download speeds will be reduced to

2 Mbps and upload speeds to 256 Kbps. No additional charge for usage over 250 GB.

Setting up a Wi-Fi connectionTo set up your in-home Wi-Fi connection from a computer hardwired to

your network, follow these steps:

1. Go to http://172.16.1.254 from your home computer.

2. Log in.

• Enter your user name and password.

» If this is your first time logging in, you’ll need to enter admin as the

username and LTEcpe as the password.

» You’ll then be asked to change your password. Enter a password of

your choice and click Apply.

3. Click Network Setting > Wireless > General.

4. Choose or enter the following settings:

• Wireless network set-up: Choose Enable Wireless LAN.

• Wireless network settings: Choose your Network Name (SSID).

» Look for WLAN - Network Name (SSID) on the bottom of your Gateway

6 characters (after Wlan1).

• Security level:

» Choose a level from the sliding bar. No Security lets any wireless device

within range connect to your network. More Secure is recommended.

» Choose a security mode from the drop-down menu:

• Basic – Static WEP

• Shared WEP – More Secure WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK.

» Create a password in the More Security setting. In the Pre-Shared Key

field, enter a password of your choice, which should be 8 to 63 letters and

numbers or 64 hexadecimal digits (a–f, A–F, and 0–9). This same process

can also be used to change or reset a Wi-Fi password.

5. Click Apply to save your settings.

Set your notification preferences so you will be notified by text and/or email when

you’re close to using up the 100 GB of included data as well as at each additional

25 GB of data used.

Troubleshooting

Limited or no wireless connection

If you’re having problems with the wireless connection on your Gateway:

1. Check the wireless connection on other wireless devices, such as

a cell phone, tablet, or laptop.

• If 1 device won’t connect to the Gateway while others do, try the following:

» On the device that won’t connect, make sure Wi-Fi is turned on and

your password is correct.

» Power off and restart the device.

» Change the Security Mode from WEP to WPA2-PSK. If that doesn’t work,

choose No Security to disable security settings completely.

• If no wireless devices connect, try entering your network name again:

» Go to http://172.16.1.254 from your home computer.

» Click Network Setting > Wireless > General.

» Re-enter your Wireless Network Name or SSID SSID found on

the bottom of your Gateway – 6 characters (after Wlan1).

» Click Apply.

2. Try restarting your Gateway by pressing the power button on the back

and unplugging the power cord for 30 seconds.

3. Try your wireless connection again.

If you still can’t connect to your wireless network, go to sasktel.com/troubleshooting

and start a chat or ask a question on the right side of the page. (If you’re using the

mobile version of the site, tap Home then Contact Us.) You’ll see different options

depending on the time of day. Or, call 1.800.727.5835 anytime.

Did you know?Wireless connections are never as fast as wired connections due to a number

of factors, including:

• Interference from other appliances and devices in your home

• Distance of Wi-Fi devices from the Gateway

• Number of wireless devices connected to the Wi-Fi network

• Age/type of wireless devices being connected to the Wi-Fi network

• Signal congestion from multiple users on the same Wi-Fi network

(mostly in apartments, condo buildings, etc.)

• Compared to wired connections, Wi-Fi devices don’t send and receive

data simultaneously, which can cause delays in transmission

• Peer-to-peer file sharing of downloaded files

7

For additional troubleshooting for your Internet or Wi-Fi connections,

visit sasktel.com/troubleshooting.

If you’re experiencing a slow wired Internet connection, check the website you’re

using. If it seems slow, then try different websites. If other sites load quickly, then

the problem is with the website you were using.

If all websites load slowly:

1. Go to sasktel.com/speedtest to test if your Internet connection speed is within

acceptable limits. You may experience slower speeds for reasons unrelated

to your plan, such as online gaming, multiple computers sharing 1 Internet

connection, or resource-heavy software. To get the most accurate speed-test

results, ensure only the computer you are testing is accessing the Internet.

Disconnect all other devices connected to Wi-Fi and close any applications

that consume bandwidth to ensure the most accurate reading.

2. If your speed test seems slow compared to your plan, make sure your

computer is securely connected to your Gateway by an Ethernet cable.

3. Unplug the power cord to the Gateway for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

4. Wait 2 minutes for the Gateway to reboot.

5. Restart your computer.

6. Run the speed test again to see if your Internet speed improved.

If your Internet speed didn’t improve after completing the above steps, it could be:

• Spyware or a virus: We suggest you scan your system with antivirus and

antispyware software on a regular basis, such as once a week.

• Browser: Try a different browser to see if it is faster or try clearing your cache

in the slow browser or restoring your browser to default settings.

• File-sharing software: These programs can use up a lot of bandwidth, so it’s

recommended you close them.

• Gaming systems: If connected to the Internet, they may be using up most

or all of your Internet bandwidth. Turn off the systems before testing your

Internet speed.
