Game Talk:
Last Time Out
“The only thing this team
can do right now to keep
fighting. It’s a group of
guys who want that, no
one wants to stop fighting.
Everybody has to step up.”
— Head Coach David Brandt
“It is not easy, we are in
a hole, but we have to
keep trying to get out
of that hole. We can’t
give up, simple as that.”
— Goalkeeper Mauricio Vargas
Game Notes:
Team Rosters:
Pittsburgh: Charlotte:
· The Riverhounds (2-11-4) take on the Charlotte Independence (7-6-4) for the first time this season. Last season saw the clubs meet three times, with the Independence taking both their home dates by a score of 2-1 and the Hounds battling to a 1-1 draw at Highmark Stadium. Both teams enter Saturday’s match on losing streaks – the Hounds have dropped three-straight, while the Independence have lost their past two.
· Kevin Kerr broke a three-match goalless streak for Pittsburgh with his second half tally against the City Islanders this past weekend. For the captain, it was his second goal of the season and first since June 18 against FC Montreal. Kerr (2), Corey Hertzog (3) and one-game loanee Rob Vincent (1) have accounted for all six of Pittsburgh’s goals since head coach Dave Brandt took over the club in late May.
