It is amazing how each year changes – the past two years wehave talked about record drought in Southwest Iowa, this yearwe are coming off record rainfall during the month of Augustand have had over 20 inches of rain during the month. Whilewe are thankful to not be in a drought, we are ready for the rainto slow down so we can get our third cutting of hay done andget ready for harvest. Once again, we are very excited about thecattle and the program we have to offer. The cattle this year com-bine many generations of hard work, as we combine some timetested genetics with some genetics of tomorrow. Times are chang-ing in the breed and we have been getting ready for this changeover the past few years. We have made strategic moves in our op-eration that may have not been popular at the time, but todayare paying off not only in the cattle, but in their EPD’s and over-all performance for the purebred breeder and commercial oper-ation. We have been blessed with the continued belief in ourprogram and where we have been and where we are going. Ourbull sales continue to grow each year and it is always a strugglewhen deciding if we should keep more bulls than we did lastyear, but we do and each one sells. The bull offering in this saleare some exciting young herd sire prospects. Once again thisyear, we are very happy to have our friends Gilman Shorthornsand Mitchell Family Shorthorns as part of our sale. As everyoneknows, it takes a lot of time, effort and man power to get readyfor this day and we thank everyone who has helped us get readyfor the sale. Make plans for a long weekend in Iowa by attendingsales at Cyclone Trace on Friday night and Sullivan Farms onSunday. We look forward to seeing you on sale day, Saturday,October 18th.

: : :There has been a lot of buzz around our place on 127X since producing our top selling

females in last year’s sale. We marvel over his phenotype and fleshing ability as heroams the pastures around our operation. Of course, his calves have been consistentin those regards as well. Combine that with Top 5 rank in both WW & YW, Top 20in CE, Top 20 in $BMI and top 4 in $F. He produces the right kind with excellentnumbers. I think we are just beginning to see a true Legacy in the making!

: : :This moderate framed first calf heifer sells open. Rather than breed her for an-

other summer calf, we decided to keep her open and let the new owner decidewhat they want - a Fall or Spring calf. We will offer two units of either LittleCedar Cabrera, DF Waco or I-80 semen to the new owner. She was Mason’sshow heifer in 2013. Mason bought her at the 2013 Iowa Beef Expo fromWayne Temple. She was Champion ShorthornPlus at the Bremer CountyFair. Her sire is a full brother to Phildon JBS Fringe. If you are looking for asteer mama, here she is. Just check out her first calf by CF Primo.
