Ellen's Room is a light, sunny room,decorated in gold damask and soft lace.The four poster heavily carved oak queenbed is draped in net from a ceilingmedallion. The room also features astained glass window and fireplace —located beside the room's sunken doublewhirlpool.

The Beltram Room is a large, classicsuite, decorated in Victorian bouquets ofred on mint green background. It features

an Italian marble double whirlpool,private bath with a claw foot tub andshower, as well as a fireplace and a beau-tiful spoon-carved cherry queen bed anddresser.

To reach the Butler’s Cottage Suite,you enter through your own privatecourtyard, your special personal space foran afternoon glass of wine or to enjoy anintimate breakfast. Fireplace, doublewhirlpool tub set in marble, antiquesettee and chairs, and a beautiful four-poster queen bed enhance this spaciousroom. The bath includes a large marblestall shower as well.

The Mansion was built by William Sauntry, a Minnesota lumberbaron whose life was truly a rags-to-richesstory. (Sauntry was a first cousin to BingCrosby.) The home reflects his eccentric-ities and opulence.

All guest rooms of The WilliamSauntry Mansion feature fireplaces, queenor king beds, private baths (all withdouble whirlpools) and CD soundsystems.

The relaxed elegance of the parlors andmusic room with restored player pianoprovides guest entertainment in a luxurioussetting. Snacks and refreshments are servedduring check in from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The Madam La Fuegy room is a largestately space complete with a fireplace, astained glass window, a parquet floor, anda luxurious king brass bed. The suite isdecorated in soft peach and forest greenhues and has its own private bath withdouble whirlpool.

Once living quarters for the Sauntry’sIrish maids, the Servant’s Quarters suite isa large and very private room in the rearof the house, decorated in plums andgreens with a mahogany king bed. Thefireplace can be viewed throughout theroom, including from the doublewhirlpool tub set in one corner.

Joseph’s Room is handsomely decoratedin indigo blue and butter yellow. Theroom features an elaborately carvedwalnut queen bed and fireplace. Theoversized bath is often used by guests as apersonal spa. Deep levels of relaxationare often reported by guests indulging

a. There are currently 5 steamboats oper-ating out of Stillwater, recalling theessence of the town’s steamboat era.The St. Croix River is also home toone of Minnesota’s two remaining liftbridges.

b. Stillwater has some of the finest exam-ples of 19th century residential archi-tecture. With just a short drive intothe residential area of Stillwater, youwill be able to see homes built in theQueen Anne, Second Empire andStick Styles of the 1800’s as well as thePrairie Style of this century.

c. Minnesota Zephyr is an elegant diningtrain that journeys along the St. CroixValley. Five dining cars and live musicfrom the 40’s and 50’s add to the expe-rience.
