Aberto Type: Adflectomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 1 Range: Smarts Duration: Instant Trappings: Description: The caster must be able to see an unlocked por-tal. A success and the ensorcelled portal (door, gate or win-dow), flies open. With a raise, the portal opens in a more elegant, controlled manner. A person may make a successful Strength Trait test using the caster’s Adflectomancy roll as the TN, to prevent the portal from opening through brute strength.

Accio Type: Adflectomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 1 / 10# Range: 12” Duration: Instant Trappings: Description: The caster must be able to see the object. Upon successful casting of the spell, the object flies straight to the caster’s hands. If someone is holding the ob-ject, they are allowed a dexterity roll (TN the caster’s Adflectomancy Roll), to maintain their hold on the ob-ject—they will then be pulled in a direct line to the caster.

Aguamenti Type: Mutomancy Rank: Seasoned Cost: 3

Range: Cone Duration: 1 Round Trappings: Jet of water sprays out of the tip of the wand. Description: A forceful jet of water shoots from the tip of the wand (Like a fire extinguisher), providing sufficient water to put out a fire in the area effected. A being targeted with the water jet must make a Vigor roll (TN the Mutomancy Roll of the caster) or be Shaken for one round.

Alarte Ascendare Type: Adflectomancy Rank: Seasoned Cost: 3 Range: Smarts x 2 Duration: Instant Trappings: Description: The caster must be able to see the object. This spell flings the target 1d4” into the air. Increase the dice size by one increment for every raise on the casting roll.

Alohomora Type: Adflectomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 1 Range: 3” Duration: Instant Trappings: The lock glows briefly then springs open Description: Opens non-magical locks whether they be a pad lock or built into a container or door.

Rank: Seasoned Cost: 2 Range: 3” Duration: Instant Trappings: The lock glows briefly then springs open Description: This spell clears any and all obstructions to the target’s airways. If the obstruction was placed magically, the TN = the success roll of the caster who put it there.

Aparecium Type: Mutomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 2 Range: 6” Duration: Until the information is read Trappings: Characters swirl around on the surface where they are written and one by one form meaningful words and sentences. Description: This spell reveals secret or hidden writing,

making it meaningful to all viewers until it is read. Includ-ing writing, text and symbols whether they are obscured purposefully (such as invisible ink), or incidentally such as a sign covered with mud or an ancient bas relief worn by time.

Avada Kedavra Type: Dark Arts Rank: Hero Cost: 5 Range: 12/24/48 Duration: Instant Trappings: The target stiffens then falls dead to the ground. Description: Though this attack may not be soaked, given the

rather drastic… effects… of this spell, everyone should be allowed a final Dodge roll.

Using a Dark Arts Spell automatically leaves a dark mark on the soul of the caster that can be detected through certain scrying spells. Backlash: Should the Caster roll a 1 on their casting skill roll, regardless of the roll on their Wild Dice (Should they have one), the spell reflects back on them instead and the full effect is applied to them. The original target is ig-nored.

Avifors Type: Mutomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 1 Range: 6/12/24

Duration: 3 (1/round) Trappings: Description: The caster must be able to see the object. The object subjected to this spell becomes a living bird with a similar body shape to the article transformed. The bird will flit about and do “bird” things, though the spell itself doesn’t provide any form of control over the type of bird or its actions.

Avis Type: Impugnatiomancy Rank: Seasoned Cost: 2 Range: Cone Duration: Instant Trappings: A flock of small birds shoots out the tip of the

wand in a roughly conical formation, screeching and batter-ing any in their way. Description: The flock of birds batters anyone in the cone template before dispersing and flying away. A being targeted with the bird flock must make a Vigor roll (TN the Impugnatiomancy Roll of the caster) or be

Cave Inimicum (Barrier) Type: Custodiomancy Rank: Seasoned Cost: 1 /wall Range: An enclosed (walls on all sides, a ceiling and floor) structure or room the castor is within—maximum area 3,000 feet2

Duration: 6 hours (1 / wall/6 hours) Trappings: Anyone within the structure will notice an opal-escent shimmer briefly play across the walls and circle por-tals and windows. Description: Gives all external (perimeter if it is a room or rooms) walls (including doors and windows) a Toughness of 10 that can only be effected by magic.

Colloportus Type: Adflectomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 1 Range: 6/12/24 Duration: Instant Trappings: - Description: The caster must be able to see the door. Upon successful casting of the spell, the door locks it-self—this spell requires the door have a locking mechanism, it does not provide a magical lock, merely engages an exist-ing mechanism.

Confringo (Burst) Type: Impugnatiomancy Rank: Seasoned Cost: 2—6

Range: 24/48/96 Duration: Instant Trappings: A barely visible thin stream of red and yellow sparkles shoot to the target and burst around them. Description: Confringo is an area effect spell that can put down many opponents at once. The caster first picks a tar-get who she wants to be the center of the effect, then makes the appropriate skill roll. Normal ranged attack modifiers apply. The area of effect is a Medium Burst Template. If the roll is failed, the blast deviates as a launched projectile.

Targets within the blast suffer 2d6 damage. Blast counts as a Heavy Weapon. ++Additional Effects: For double the Power Points, the blast does 3d6 damage, or the size is increased to a Large Burst Template. For triple the points, it does both.

Confundus (Confuse) Type: Incantomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 1 Range: Smarts x 2 Duration: Instant Trappings: Description: Instilling confusion in enemies is a powerful aid in combat, and this power provides that ability. On a success, a target must make a Smarts roll at –2 or be Shak-en, and on a raise, the roll is made at –4. Additional Targets: The character may affect up to five targets by spending a like amount of additional Power Points .

Type: Incantomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 2—6 Range: 12/24/48 Duration: Instant Trappings: Description: This power temporarily blinds a target or tar-gets. Those affected must make an Agility roll at –2 to avert their gaze and avoid the effect (at –4 if the caster got a raise on the attack roll). On a failure, victims are Shak-en and –2 to Parry until their next action. If the target rolls a 1 on his Agility die (regardless of the Wild Die), he’s Shaken and fully blind until he recovers from being Shaken. Blinded victims suffer a –6 penalty to all Trait rolls that require vision and have their Parry reduced to 2. Additional Effects: For 2 Power Points, the power af-fects a single target. For 4 Power Points, the power affects everyone in a Medium Burst Template. For 6 points, it affects everyone in a Large Burst Template.

Crucio Type: Dark Arts

Rank: Veteran Cost: 4 Range: 12/24/48 Duration: Instant Trappings: The victim is obviously wracked with pain. Their limbs take on unnatural positions and their body becomes stiff. Description: A victim of this curse has all their muscles cramped up, drops anything they are holding, their bodies freeze up and their faces are frozen in a rictus of pain. The victim is automatically shaken. Anyone seeing someone hit

with a Crucio curse must make a Fear Test. Victims of

Crucio automatically suffer the effects of Terror. Using a Dark Arts Spell automatically leaves a dark mark on the soul of the caster that can be detected through certain scrying spells. Backlash: Should the Caster roll a 1 on their casting skill roll, regardless of the roll on their Wild Dice (Should they have one), the spell reflects back on them instead and the full effect is applied to them. Defodio Type: Adflectomancy Rank: Seasoned Cost: 4 Range: Smarts Duration: Instant Trappings: The object targeted swims its way to the top of whatever media covers it. Description: The weight of the object a caster can effect is equal to 10 pounds times his Spirit die type, 50 pounds times his Spirit with a raise.

Cost: 3 (1/ hour) Range: Smarts Duration: 1 hour Trappings: Description: The target’s teeth grow noticeably, presenting huge buck teeth that project as an overbite. While this is active, the victim suffers a speech impediment which adds a +2 TN to all spell casting due to garbled speech. Addi-tionally they suffer a –2 Charisma penalty due to their

hysterical mien.

Deprimo (Havoc) Type: Impugnatiomancy Rank: Seasoned Cost: 2—4 Range: Smarts x 2 Duration: Instant Trappings: A whirlwind bursts into exitance centered on the target. Description: The With a success, the caster places a Medi-um Burst Template anywhere within range. Any charac-ter touched by the template must make a Strength roll (at –2 if the caster gets a raise). Any target that fails is knocked

2d6” in a random direction (roll a d12 and read the result as a clock facing) and becomes prone. If the target strikes an inanimate object, he is Shaken as well. Targets with cover may subtract the cover modifier from the total distance moved (to a minimum of 0), and fly-ing targets suffer an additional –2 to their Strength roll. Additionally, roll a d6 to see if the flyer is moved toward the ground (1 – 2), stays level (3 – 4), or is moved away from the ground (5 – 6). ++Additional Effects: For double the Power Points, Deprimo affects a Large Burst Template.

.Diffindio Type: Adflectomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 1 Range: Smarts Duration: Instant Trappings: With a loud “ripping” noise, the targeted gar-ment’s seam threads burst out sequentially, from the edge nearest the cater. For a brief moment the garment hangs to-gether then bursts open along the seams. Description: The target’s garments fall apart leaving them in their underwear. Non-clothing comes apart with less fan-fare, but breaks down the seams and looses cohesiveness.

Dissendium Type: Occulomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 2

Range: Touch Duration: Instant Trappings: The hidden door mechanism activates, revealing any passageway beyond. Description: The spell reveals hidden passageways, activat-ing and opening any doorway impeding access.

Duro Type: Mutomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 1 Range: Touch

tapped by the wand and fades to a light gray colored rock. Description: The Hardening Charm will turn an object into solid stone giving it a toughness of 10. This can be surpris-ingly handy in a tight spot. Of course, most students only seem to use this spell to sabotage their fellow students' schoolbags or to turn a pumpkin pasty to stone just before someone bites into it. It is unwise to try this unworthy trick on any of your teachers.

After the spell expires, the affected object (including liv-ing creatures) will return to normal with no ill effect (and in the case of a living creature no sense of the time lost).

Engorgio Type: Mutomancy Rank: Seasoned Cost: 2 Range: Smarts x 2 Duration: 1 hour (1 / hour) Trappings: This item so charmed slowly enlarges to five times it’s original size. Description: This charm only works on living organic mater. The charmed organism swells to five times it’s original size. The effect is definitely a swelling type effect, not just an enlargement.

Ennervate Type: Sanomancy Rank: Seasoned Cost: 2

Range: Touch Duration: Instant Trappings: With a “pop” and a brief spray of streamers and confetti, the victim’s memories are returned. Description: This spell counteracts the effects of the Stupe-

fy curse.

Episkey (Heal) Type: Sanomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 3 Range: Touch Duration: Instant Trappings: Minor cuts and bruises knit and fade away be-fore your eyes!.

Description: This repairs recent bodily damage. It must be used within the “Golden Hour,” though, for it has no ef-fect on wounds more than one hour old. For Wild Cards, each use of the Episkey spell removes a wound with a success, two with a raise. The roll suffers a penalty equal to the victim’s wounds (in addition to any the caster might be suffering himself). For Extras, the GM must first determine if the ally is dead (see Aftermath on page 78). If so, no healing may be attempted. If not, a successful arcane skill roll returns the ally to the game Shaken. Episkey can also cure poison and disease if used within 10 minutes of the event.

Erecto Type: Adflectomancy Rank: Veteran Cost: 4 Range: Smarts x 2 Duration: Permanent Trappings: The parts rush together and form themselves properly. Description: This spell causes a structure formed from a kit to build itself. The parts must all be present and arrayed where they will be formed into the final structure. His spell works on structures up to 900 feet2.

For larger structures additional witches and wizards can assist, each one adding an additional 600 feet2 of capability.

Expecto Patronum (Banish) Type: Custodiomancy Rank: Veteran Cost: 6 Range: Cone / LOS Duration: Concentration Trappings: A glowing blue mist streams from the tip of your wand coalescing in your summoned patronus which moves to attack un-natural entities which threaten you.. Description: Whether ghosts, elementals, or demons, banish removes them all. This power can affect any creature that is

not native to the current plane of existence (GM’s deter-mination). Once the patronum appears, the castor can di-rect it’s actions as long as it stays in line of sight and the castor continues to make a concentration (Vigor) test eve-ry round. If the castor does any other action (including move), the spell ceases and the patronum fades away. When the patronum comes into contact with an un-natural entity, this spell is an opposed roll of the caster’s arcane skill versus the target’s Spirit. On a success, the target is Shaken and must flee as if from fear. On a raise, it is sent to its proper plane of existence. If the target is a Wild Card, each casting of banish causes a wound instead. If the target already has three wounds, it is then banished to its native plane—but it is not slain.

Expelliarmus

Type: Impugnatiomancy Rank: Seasoned Cost: 2 Range: Smarts x 2

Duration: Instant Trappings: Whatever the target is holding flies from their hand. Description: The castor targets an object held in one hand and casts the spell. If the target is aware of the nature of Expelliramus, they are allowed a Strength saving roll with a TN equal to the castor’s Impugnatiomancy roll.

Expulso Type: Impugnatiomancy Rank: Veteran Cost: 4 Range: Smarts Duration: Instant

Trappings: The object wobbles briefly and then explodes in a flash of blue light! Description: Only useable on in-animate objects. The object explodes and is destroyed. Place a medium burst template on the object. Anyone (including friendly models) caught in the burst template are thrown d6” away from the object and suffer a 1d6 damage blast effect .

Ferula Type: Mutomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 3 Range: touch Duration: Instant Trappings: A bandage spins out from the wand tip and wraps the afflicted area in tight sterile gauze. Description: Bandages and splints a broken bone and pro-vides pain relief. This spell only works within an hour of when the injury is received.

For Wild Cards, use of the Ferula spell removes a wound caused by a broken bone. Each raise addresses an

additional break / wound. The roll suffers a penalty equal to the victim’s wounds (in addition to any the caster might be suffering himself).

Fidelius Type: Incantomancy Rank: Hero Cost: 6 Range: touch Duration: Permanent Trappings: Nothing to see here, nope nothing there, move along. Description: The Fidelius Charm (incantation unknown) is an extremely difficult, multifaceted and po-tent charm that can be used to conceal a secret inside an in-dividual's soul; the witch or wizard who houses the secret is

known as the Secret Keeper. A dwelling whose location has been protected by this spell is then invisible, intangible, unplottable and soundproof. This is an extremely old spell, one of the most ancient of all. It is impossible to find a location thus hidden. The location will not be revealed by any known counter curse or spell.

Finite Incantum (Dispel) Type: Custodiomancy Rank: Seasoned Cost: 3 Range: Smarts Duration: Instant Trappings: A bandage spins out from the wand tip and wraps the afflicted area in tight sterile gauze. Description: Finite Incantum allows a hero to negate enemy spells, miracles, mad science, or super powers. It has no

effect on innate powers, such as a dragon’s breath or a ban-shee’s scream. Neither does Finite Incantum on magic

items or permanent enchantments unless the specific item or enchantment says otherwise.

Flagrate Type: Adflectomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 2 Range: Smarts Duration: 30 minutes (1/10 minute) Trappings: The castor can use their wand tip to draw a fiery line in the air that they control. Description: The spell allows them up to a minute to write. The line can be stopped and started as they move the want to allow spaces between words and allow them to make proper letters. The fiery letters hang in the air, but can be manipu-

lated byt the wand, moved about as desired. At the end of the duration, the lines convert to ash and flutter to the ground.

Flipendo Type: Impugnatiomancy Rank: Seasoned Cost: 3 Range: Smarts x 2 Duration: Instant Trappings: With a loud “BANG! The unprepared target is hurled backwards. Description: The effect of the Flipendo jinx is to hurl the target straight backward 6 inches as if they had received a

blow to the chest. If the victim strikes a solid object of sub-stantial (twice) mass, they suffer d6 + Castor’s Spirit damage. The Flipendo jinx can be rebound back at the castor by Protego.

Type: Impugnatiomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 2 Range: Smarts x 2 Duration: 1 hour (1/hour) Trappings: The victim’s skin begins to bubble, producing large icky looking boils all over them.

Description: The boils are painful and can be slightly debili-tating. All actions are at –2 until the boils are cleared away. They also suffer a –4 Charisma because, well they look icky!

Geminio Type: Mutomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 2 Range: Smarts Duration: 1 hour (1/hour) Trappings: A duplicate of the original separates itself, to all the world looking like it always stood behind the original and was simply moved out from behind it!

Description: This charm creates a duplicate exact in every way, though it will fade after the duration expires or if dis-pelled by an appropriate counter curse or dispelling charm.

Glisseo Type: Mutomancy Rank: Veteran Cost: 4 Range: Touch Duration: 1 hour (1/hour) Trappings: With a loud, wailing, klaxon-like sound and steps melt together to make a long, smooth stone slide like a helter-skelter!

Description: This spell is used as a defensive enchantment in castles. It turns a stairway into a slide down which any one occupant will lose their footing and slide to the base.

Homenum Revelio Type: Occulomancy

Rank: Novice Cost: 2 Range: Smarts x 2 Duration: Instant Trappings: The castor sees the glowing outline of any non-magical humanoids whithin range, right through any ob-structions. Beings so detected feel a swishing sensation as if some large bird had swooped down a hairs breath from their head and flew off in the direction of the caster. Description: This spell detects and reveals to the castor, the relative location and distance to all non-magical hominids within range. In context non-magical means hominids that don’t have inherit magic abilities (such as house elves, pix-ies or merfolk), not beings who can manipulate magic (so yes, wizards and witches are copped).

Homophus Potion

Type: Potiomancy Rank: Veteran Cost: 4 Range: Potion Duration: 1 night Trappings: Nothing happens, nothing at all. Description: One drought of this potion prevents the imbiber from turning into a lycanthrope for one night. Finding the ingredients is a Herbology TN=8 skill check. One roll is allowed per hour, there are 4 ingredients so 4 successes are required to find them all. If the ingredients are purchased or listed together, a Poti-

omancy TN=6 roll will reveal to anyone who notices, the

nature of the use of those ingredients together. While three of the four ingredients are common ingredients, the fourth is a dead give away and the TN=6 roll applies.

Immobulus Type: Impugnatiomancy Rank: Seasoned Cost: 2 Range: Smarts x 2 Duration: 1 hour (1/hour) Trappings: A bolt of blue lightning coruscates around the target who’s muscles freeze instantly. Description: The target is frozen and prevented from moving

or uttering a sound, though their autonomic functions con-tinue unhampered. Rgis curse may be cancelled by a coun-ter curse.

Impedimenta Type: Adflectomancy Rank: Seasoned Cost: 2 Range: Smarts x 2 Duration: 10 Seconds Trappings: The target briefly flashes and then rapidly slows to a snail’s pace. Description: This hex effectively freezes an individual for ten seconds, however the target is only physically slowed down, mentally they are still aware and thinking at normal speed.

Imperio (Puppet) Type: Dark Arts Rank: Veteran Cost: 4 Range: Smarts

Duration: 1 month (2 / month)

Trappings: The victim is appears perfectly normal to the un-trained eye. Description: A victim of this curse can be directed to do an-ything. They will whol heartedly try their very best to ac-complish tasks given to them, and will always look out for their master’s best interests. Imperio s an opposed roll of the character’s arcane skill versus the target’s Spirit. The user must score a success and beat the target’s roll to gain complete control. The vic-tim will attack friends and even commit suicide, though such acts allow the victim another opposed Spirit roll to break the spell. Examination of the victims aura will reveal they currently have the aura of the castor of this curse.

Impervius Type: Adflectomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 1 Range: Touch

Duration: 1 hour (1/hour) Trappings: The target gains a warm light yellow glow which repels water. Description: For one hour the object effected repels water to a distance of about a half inch, forming a dry layer beneath it. It has been used successfully on glasses, clothes, even skin.

Type: Mutomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 1 Range: Touch Duration: 1 round (1/round) Trappings: A tiny flame appeared at the tip of her wand. Description: Creates a small flame on the wand tip Incarcerous (Entangle) Type: Impugnatiomancy Rank: Novice Cost: 2—4 Range: Smarts x 2 Duration: 1 hour (1/ hour) Trappings: Thick ropes shoot from the wand tip, wrap

around the target and bind them tightly. Description: The ropes are directed by the caster much like silly string and wrap around their target where they hit. They then constrict to tighten and hold the victim still. Should they be so directed, they could be used to strangle a target. The Impugnatiomancy roll is opposed by the target’s agili-ty. A success indicates the target is partially immobilized suffering a –2 to all physical actions. A raise indicates the target is fully restrained and may not use any skills linked to Agility or Strength. Each following action, an entangled target may make a Strength or Agility roll to break free. Other characters may also attempt to free the ensnared person by making a
