Students will see that there is hope for those that have been exploited and that this taboo subject is a necessary topic for at- home conversations.

Students will learn that they are the

catalyst for change in the world.

January 1, 2013 marked the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Abraham Lincoln undoubtedly believed that, when he finally saw the end to legalized slavery in America, it would never return. But slavery has returned. Today, we call it Human Trafficking and we must do something about

“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men. Frederick Douglass

Students will leave with the understanding of modern slavery, how to recognize it in others and avoid it for themselves.

Q: IS HUMAN TRAFFICKING REALLY AN ISSUE WITH TODAY’S STUDENTS?A: According to the U.S. Department of Education, the children at risk are not just high school students—pimps or traffickers are known to prey on victims as young as 9. Traffickers may target minor victims through social media websites, telephone chat-lines, after-school programs, at shopping malls and bus depots, in clubs, or through friends or acquaintances who recruit students on school campuses. http://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/oese/oshs/factsheet.html

Q:DOES SAY SOMETHING TAKE A MORAL AND/OR POLITICAL STANCE?A: Say Something takes a Civil RIghts Stance. It is the right of every human being to be free. Our goal is to raise an awareness and to empower students to recognize that basic human rights are being violated and they have the ability to Say Something.

Q: HOW WILL TALKING ABOUT HUMAN TRAFFICKING HELP MY STUDENTS?A: Our research shows that students are already acutely aware of the sex industry but not from the position of its inherent dangers. We take time to focus on the effects of sex trafficking on the victim and how to avoid becoming a victim. Through video, humor and interactive dialogue students are encouraged to evaluate their surroundings, their relationships, and their acquaintances for signs of sex trafficking. They are then empowered with resources to help them effectively Say Something.

Q: WILL STUDENTS BE EXPOSED TO INAPPROPRIATE MATERIAL IN THE ASSEMBLY?A: NO. Students will be educated in a way that does not expose them to inappropriate images or speech. Students will hear some difficult facts, see images that are related to slavery and hear from real life survivors of human trafficking. Say Something Assemblies are designed to be culturally relevant and sensitive. It is our hope that each student leaves the assembly feeling compelled to Say Something about this horrific tragedy facing America and the world.

SAY SOMETHING ASSEMBLIES began in 2010. Since then we have provided interactive assemblies to students in both the public and private schools across the United States. Say Something has reached over 100,000 American teenagers with a message of hope and empowerment, challenging them to become modern day abolitionists and to be a part of history by bringing modern day slavery to an end in their lifetime.

THE PROBLEM

The issue of human trafficking is becoming normal for American students. They are being faced with choices daily that could lead to being trafficked or stand idly by while one of their peers is trafficked. Because of social media and how easily internet “sex for sale” is accessed, in many cases American students are unaware of or take part in human trafficking without knowing the dangers or

THE Solution

Say Something is a grass roots, student focused, non-profit organization dedicated to ending child sex trafficking. We know, statistically, that we will rescue less than 1% of the missing children being forced into this horrific life. We are dedicated to arming students with the red flags of recruitment for prostitution and the red flags of actual forced prostitution of their peers. We believe by working together with students, administrators and communities that we can effect a

We take very seriously any compliment or criticism that we are offered by Principals, Teachers, Superintendents, and Students. We are proud to share these endorsements given to us by some of those whom we have had the opportunity to serve.

The enthusiasm, dedication, and knowledge of your team were both inspiring and motivating. Our students were cultivated with the energetic performance of the team. Teacher

Because the topic is so reverent and little known, I suggest you continue to broaden other audiences with this experience. Do approach other school leaders to share this information with their students and parents. 9th-12th Principal

I believe that this is something that needs to be shared, not just with McMain, but with all the schools. Assistant Principal

It was a tremendous impact having you guys with us today. The students

and the staff have been very positive about the presentation.

SAY SOMETHING is a fast-paced, interactive assembly program designed to not only keep students' attention, but to resource them for change. We know everyone says that, but our media-driven program happens in 3D and mostly in short speaking segments. Say Something is focused on continued student action and we have tools and opportunities to help students to get involved. Students are challenged to not only help one another, but also to empower one another, protect one another, and encourage one another.

The assembly program can be customized to fit within your allotted time frame (45-60 min). The team will arrive on site one (1) hour prior to begin it’s preparation. Say Something is fully self-contained, and will only utilize your 110v power outlets.

We look forward to serving you, your students, and your community as together we bring an end to modern day slavery!
