Acting Monologue and Scene Performance Schedule for September-October
(Note: Bring both the Contentless Scenes handout and the Monologues handouts to every class.)
On this date: Do this assignment: (Some will require previous preparation.)September 18 Contentless Scene II, p. 44 of Acting One text (A or B, as selected in class) Memorize.
These will be played in class, using some of the situations, obstacles, and locations in Chapter 6.
September 23 Work on contentless scenes from handout and text
September25 Second round of Breaking Night exercises
September30 Perform short monologue (handout: “MONOLOGUES: Finding the Imaginary Audience”), as assigned in class. Requirements: 1) memorize; 2) define your AUDIENCE; 3) name your goal
October 2 Continue work on short monologues.
October 7 Continue work on previous assignments.
October 14 Perform Study Monologue (handout: “Four Study Monologues”)Requirements: 1) memorize; 2) define your AUDIENCE; 3) name your goal and obstacle; 4) create basic circumstances (written assignment)
October 16 Begin process of choosing a monologue from a play to perform. Samples will be provided.
October 21 Explore and perform (from memory) “speeches” on pages 56-57 of Acting One.
October 23 Scene work: work with partners on scenes from Acting One.
October 28 Scene and monologue work.
October 30 Perform Monologue from a Play (Group 1) (More explanation will be given later)
November 4 Perform Monologue from a Play (Group 2)
