SCHOOL ABSENTEE VOICEMAILS

If your child is going to be away from school, could you please ensure that you advise

the school first thing in the morning.

When leaving a message on the school absentee voicemail, could you please VERY

CLEARLY STATE your child’s name and grade, the date/s of the absence and the reason

why your child will not be attending school. We have been experiencing incidents where

we are having difficulty understanding the messages being left and this is therefore having

an impact on the school holding accurate information with regards to student absences.

LATE ARRIVAL/EARLY LEAVERS

Any child arriving to school after 8.30am is required to attend the office, with a parent/guardian, to obtain

a late pass. If your child is leaving school early, the parent/guardian is required to send a note with their

child on the morning informing the classroom teacher of the time they will be collected and who will be

collecting them. The parent/guardian is required to sign the child out at the office, where arrangements

will be made for the child to come up to office.

PRINCIPAL WRITES

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Parents should have returned a response to their child’s classroom teacher regarding their preferred times

for our Parent Teacher Interviews which are being held on Monday, June 20th (2:50 – 6:30pm) and

Tuesday, June 21st (2:50 – 4:10pm).

If you have not returned this note, teachers may be contacting parents to provide options for the

remaining times available. We aim for 100% attendance by parents at Parent Teacher Interviews.

Parents will receive a note confirming the date and time for their Parent Teacher Interview before the

student reports are sent home.

About the SWPBS Rewards Shop

Did you know…….

The Rewards Shop is open each Tuesday (Grades 2 – 6) and Thursday (P – 1).

The Class Captains and Vice Captains record all the names and grades of students who attend the

Rewards Shop and these names are acknowledged in the school newsletter.

The Class Captains and Vice Captains explain the process and assist students with their purchases

at the Rewards Shop.

Between 100 – 200 prizes are redeemed at the rewards Shop each week.

Students can cash in bee tokens for a prize worth 10 tokens, 20 tokens or 25 tokens.

Some students cash in enough tokens to be able to select multiple prizes (e.g. 20 = 2 x 10 token

prizes; 50 = 2 x 20 token prizes and 1 x 10 token prize; 25 = classroom visit with favourite

teacher; 10 tokens can be exchanged for a beehive for the classroom rewards).

The most popular prizes are: colouring books, activity books, highlighters, gel pens, down balls,

collectable cards, craft toys, loom bands, bubble wands, Chomp bar, Costco cookies, treat bags.

If families have any small toys or stationery items they feel may be appropriate for the Rewards Shop and

wish to donate them to the program, they would be gratefully accepted.

STAFF CAR PARK

Last month, School Council approved the installation of an extension to the staff car park near the

basketball court on Bellbridge Drive. Over 70 staff are employed at our school and with approximately

50 parking spaces, many of our staff have had to park on nearby streets.

Several trees have been removed to provide space for 20 more parking spaces. Excavation into a portion

of the ‘hill area’ beyond the caged bin/dumpster will also be done prior to spreading a gravel base for the

allocation of parking bays. It is anticipated that the extended car park will be completed by the start of

Term 3. We will also be planting more trees and garden when the car park area is complete.

PREP ENROLMENTS for 2017 We conduct regular tours of our school for families seeking enrolments (every Tuesday at 9:00am).

This year all Wyndham Principals and their schools are promoting enrolments in the nearest local school

to where families live in what is termed a ‘Designated Area School’. A map of our local school area is

used as a reference when considering enrolments and families who do not live in the local area are

encouraged to take a tour of their local school.

Early next term, I will be informing the Education Department of our predicted enrolments and our

accuracy in predicting Prep enrolments is critical due to classroom space and staffing.

Parents of current students at Bellbridge who have a younger sibling who will be starting Prep in 2017

are strongly encouraged to enrol now.

Please contact the Office if you wish to arrange a tour or a chat with a member of the Leadership Team

prior to enrolling.

CROSS COUNTRY

On Thursday the 26th of May a number of students represented Bellbridge Primary school at the

Wyndham division cross country championship at Presidents Park. It was a cold wet day, however all

competitors tried their absolute best against various other students from the Wyndham area with four

students finishing in the top 8 in their age group, and will progress to the next stage. A special

congratulations to all those who participated. It is a fantastic achievement to make it to that level, you

should be very proud of yourself!

The Western Metropolitan Region Finals will be held on Wednesday the 8th of June at Brimbank Park.

Good luck to the students who are participating.

GRADE 3&4 HOOP TIME

On Thursday the 2nd of June, 28 students selected from Grade 3 and 4 attended Hoop Time at Eagle

Stadium. It was a wonderful day filled with great competition. All the students who attended showed

great enthusiasm, sportsmanship and skill in basketball. I would like to thank all the parents and

guardians who came down to watch, coach and support our students. It couldn’t have run as smoothly as

it did without you. Stay tuned for Grade 1/2 Mini Hoop Time and Grade 5/6 Hoop Time next semester.

ASTHMA FORMS

For any student who suffers from asthma, the school must have an action plan in the student’s file in case

of an emergency. If your child suffers from asthma, please send the form back to school as soon as

possible. It is important that we have this information on hand so as we can assist your child effectively.

ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL

If your child is absent from school for any reason, we require parents/guardians to notify the school office

that they won’t be attending. When your child returns to school, a note must be given to their teacher,

detailing the date and the reason for the absence. If your child has any long term absences from school,

(eg. holidays, extended illness etc) a note is required to be given to their teacher informing them of the

absence prior to them commencing the absence.

KEEP BELLBRIDGE CLEAN CAMPAIGN

Thanks to the staff who have motivated their children to keep the school clean, and to the children who

have done a sterling job of ensuring the school is clean. Student leaders are responsible for certain areas

of the school and do checks on children who are doing the right thing.

It’s a pleasure to walk around the school and notice how the children are demonstrating pride and

enthusiasm about the cleanliness of the school.

Students will be recognised for their effort by being presented with special certificates of

acknowledgement at the assembly. Badges will be presented in exceptional cases of excellence.
