Miniball was really fun. The team we played had one tall guy and the rest were little. Teru scored most of our goals, he is really good and fast and he doesn’t get mixed up at what goal to shoot at like me. Rosy

We had a tough game against the other Motupipi team and we lost 26-8. Luckily I got a goal as my sister Brooke said I’d have to walk home if I didn’t score a goal. I had four shots and missed them so I was getting a bit worried. Holley

I didn’t get the ball much in our game but when I did I passed it quickly onto one of my team. Mum came and watched from upstairs and she really enjoyed it. Bella

The other team had two really good players, but we got some good intercepts off them. I got about three goals and Kiyo scored a few as well. We lost by a couple of goals. Carmyn

Rugby Awards

Takaka Rugby Club had

their Junior Prizegiving

last week.

Congratulations to all

those who gained

awards.

Hayden, Jack, Quinn,

Saxon and Teru all won

cups at prizegiving.

Miniball

I refereed the senior match between the

Motupipi Dunkers and the Motupipi Slammers.

This was the second time they had played against

each other with the first game being a draw. It

was a very competitive game played at high speed

with the Dunkers coming out on top with more

accurate shooting and being able to retain the

ball for longer. Both teams were well supported

on the sideline by parents and friends.

Samba Percussion Workshop A huge thank you to the Fundraising Committee for gifting money to each class to spend on classroom resources.

Room 1 decided to spent some of their money on a whole class learning experience by inviting Carl, a local

professional drummer and teacher in to teach a half day Samba Percussion Workshop.

Most children choose an instrument at the start of the day and they had to listen carefully and stay fully focused as

the different instruments required different rhythms and beats.

Carl was impressed by the children‟s attitude and ability to keep focused on the task. This afternoon they

performed for the rest of the school.

It was really really fun. You had to concentrate so hard as the person beside you had a different beat. It was good being part of a group and it sounds great when we are all in time. Tara

It is tricky when you have to change to different beats but as you practice you get better at it. It is hard to keep in time as some instruments are louder and have a different beat and it can throw you out. I‟m really enjoyed it. Arjuna

The Scariest Day Ever!!

By Kian

Ashton C, Ashton S and I were fishing at the wharf, when all of a sudden I heard a long, slithery noise. I turned

around. My heart stopped!! There was an anaconda as big as a bus and it had fangs as long as my fingers!! I jumped

off the wharf with fright, onto something scaly and flat. It was a giant sting ray. A two metre tail swooped over me.

The tail was only half a metre away. It was too late to swim away. I saw the anaconda slithering into the water … (To

be continued )

The Werewolf

By Vevina

I was lying in bed. I heard a growl. I peeked out of the window. My blood turned to ice. On the street there was a

huge wolf. It had gleaming white fangs as sharp as razor blades. The wolf poked its nose in the window. I backed away.

A huge paw swept me up … (To be continued)

The B.F.G.

By Scarlett

One cold night I woke up. I looked at the clock. It was the midnight. I got out of bed. Then suddenly I heard big foot-

steps coming towards me. I shook in horror. I tip toed to the balcony. In one or two seconds, whoosh, there, right in

front of me stood a ginormous giant…( To be continued)

The B.F.G.

By Ruby

I was sitting in bed. Only a little bit of sun showed through the window. Then a big, icy breeze came. I was frozen. I

stood up by the window. There was a black shadow in the distance. Suddenly, bang, smash!! Some big eyes stared at

me, from the balcony, like giant fish eyes. Then a big wrinkly hand reached out and grabbed me… (to be continued)

The Blood Bottler

By Malika

Thwack, Thwack!!

“Who are you coffswabbling to, you midget? “ roared a booming voice outside.

“I is coffswabbling to myself,” said the B.F.G.

I froze to the spot. In pounded the Blood Bottler. He was two times the size of the B.F.G and had a huge hairy face

and was naked except for a towel around his waist. . His broken, brown teeth looked like slices of mouldy bread. He

reached towards me and I shrunk back…… (to be continued)

What was that?

By Clara.

I was lying in my bed. The full moon shone. I thought that I heard thumping coming closer and closer. It was scary.

My blood froze…

The Horror!!

By Emily Ch.

I was in my bed sleeping. It was a full moon. Sh, sh, sh, sh!! I sprang up!! What‟s that? I snuck out to the window.

Bang, Crash!! Bubble, Bang, Gush!! I tried to scream, but my mouth was going to explode!!!! Before I could speak, I got

snatched. My blanket fell like a leaf falling off a tree. I was pulled out into the street. It was silent, not the tiniest

peep was made. The giant was much bigger than a tree!! ….(to be continued)

The Scariest Night ever!!

By Wiremu

I was awake. Then I saw a giant. It was getting closer and closer. Suddenly the giant snatched me out of my bed and

he took me to his house. There was another giant there. He was called the Blood Bottler. My whole body froze when I

saw him. I felt his breath on my chest. …. (To be continued!!)

The Anaconda Attack

By Saxon

I was in my bed sleeping. Just then I heard a slithering sound. My heart froze. It was an anaconda. It‟s fangs were

sharp as knives. I ran outside. “Oh no, It saw me,” I muttered. It was getting closer and closer. My whole body froze.

….. (to be continued)
