Bill 212 describes a safe and welcoming school culture as: ?inclusive ?collaborative ?consultative Key Concepts Underlying Progressive Discipline 1. An optimal learning environment requires good classroom management and the support provided by a school-wide progressive discipline plan. 2.An effective progressive discipline plan must be established and developed by all members of the school community 3.An effective progressive discipline plan must be practiced with a unified school-wide approach.

Staff has been inserviced at our first staff meeting line of protocol when it comes to Progressive Discipline. Most of the incidences that occur are dealt with at the immediate stage (classroom or school yard). We strive to have the discipline be a 'learning experience' rather than a 'punitive experience' for the child. Hence a Reflection paper is used in many cases to give the child to the opportunity to reflect on his/her actions. Parental Contact is initiated either by the teacher or the administrator if there is a repetition of the incident.

Academic Year Teacher, Principal Board-wide resources Action to be taken Will develop a progressive discipline plan with staff and the school community as it applies to the upcoming Bill 157. Staff along with administration will work towards a reporting system of incidences.
