Students are to gain an understanding and acceptance of our SCHOOL CODE OF CONDUCT, as published in the student's Agenda (pages 1-8). The Agenda is issued to every student in grades 2 through to 8 (inclusive).

- Details of the School Code of Conduct are discussed at all divisional meetings and at initial staff meetings (start of school year) - Inclusion Model implemented in all divisions - Progressive Discipline Model implemented in all divisions - Division assemblies in early September to review behaviour expectations and implementation and adherence to the school's Code of Conduct - Student of the Month awards for one JK/SK, Primary, Junior and Intermediate student. Photo and certificate on display in glass frames in the school's central square

- Parental concerns are addressed with sensitivity to the grade level and age of the students

Academic Year Teacher, Principal Board-wide resources Ongoing - The school's Catholic School Advisory Council (CSAC) will be involved in the implementation of our bullying awareness and prevention plan - Parents are made aware that their concerns are listened to and are taken seriously - Our school welcomes and encourages parents to attend assemblies, liturgical celebrations and guest speaker presentations - Parent volunteers (pizza/hot dog lunch, classroom assistance, excursions, curriculum night, and graduation, fundraising events) are welcomd and valued - Communication is on a monthly basis through the school newsletter and at monthly CSAC meetings - Welcome to Kindergarten program

There exists a need for Bullying Awareness and Prevention for school staff, students and their families.

- Divisional meetings to address victimization and harassment issues - Police Constable Dawe (14 Division) to address each division with regards to cyberbullying and internet safety - Consequences of bullying behaviour communicated to students at initial division assemblies - Angel video (YouTube version) presented to the intermediate division - Catholic Virtues celebrated monthly with banners, posters and through the school newsletter - cross curriculum implementation of Catholic Values as presented through the Religion program in all divisions

Academic Year Teacher, Principal Board-wide resources Ongoing - All stakeholders will be further educated to create a better understanding of the nature and dynamics of bullying behaviour through presentations (eg. Big Kids production of SNOW WHITE; 14 Division School Liaison Officer), in-services, web sites and home / school communications - "Explaining Bullying" posters (X 8) placed in Primary stairwell - "Rights and Responsibilities posters (X 8) placed in hallway adjacent to school library - School plan to include direct teaching of skills and strategies to recognize and to deal with the issues of harassment and victimization - A Progressive Discipline plan which is consistent, fair and judicious will be communicated to all staff and parents/guardians associated with the school community

Interventions for Bullies, Victims, Bystanders and Allies.

- Me to We Ambassadors promote positive student involvement and putting our "faith into action" eg. educating entire school rationale behind "Vow of Silence" held on Nov. 20, 2009. - Informed and diligent staff on supervision duties in the primary, junior and intermediate yard/halls

Academic Year Teacher, Principal Board-wide resources Ongoing - All cases ob bullying, harassment, and intimidation are taken seriously in our school - Bullies are taught that their actions are unacceptable and will not be tolerated in the school community - Our school provides direct teaching of alternative behaviours and responses to bullies, victims, bystanders and allies - Adult supervision in the playground during recesses allows for positive role models and adult visibility and assistance - Our Progressive Discipline Model is actively utlized

Note: The principal will report to the school community on the effectiveness of each strategy at the end of the year how the plan worked based on the evidence of improvements.
