On behalf of the governors I would like to thank all the teachers and support staff for all their hard work to make the day such a success and to the parents for all their support in walking the children to the college and all their enthusiasm on such a fantastic afternoon. Darren Hannaford Open Afternoon Thank you to everyone who came and supported the open afternoon on Thursday this week. It was lovely to see the children sitting down with their grown ups sharing their work and achievements over the year. There was some amazing work on display demonstrating some great progress. For the Year 6 parents who couldn’t make it because their children were visiting their new schools Mr Deveney is happy for you to come in to see the children ‘s work. Kingfisher Award A really huge well done to our Year 6 children at the Kingfisher Award this week! On Wednesday evening the children set up their display and then faced the judges to talk about their experiences and learning as part of the award. The judges were really impressed by their interactive model and even more so with their knowledge and enthusiasm! Out of nine other schools the children came in second place and brought back a cheque for £50 for the school. Well done Year 6! Trim Trail – Please help! I am sure that you are all aware that over the past year we have been raising money to improve the trim trail for the children. We have nearly made the total but the Express and Echo are running a competition! One of our parents have registered the school for the competition and we now need to collect as many tokens as possible from the paper over the summer. If you are able to help that would be fantastic as it would put another £10000 towards the project. More details are at http://www.exeterexpressandecho.co.uk/Win-new-10-000-play-area-group . Staffing This year it has been challenging to organise the staff across the school as there are some changes within the staff but also to ensure financial stability as costs are rising but there has been no increase in funding over the past couple of years! Sadly we shall be saying goodbye to Mrs Rogers at the end of the year as she will be retiring after nearly 20 years of service to the school. We are holding interviews on Tuesday to find someone to take over the role of assistant SENCo. Also Mrs Chammings will be leaving us at the end of the year as she takes up a new post teaching in one of the cities special schools. I would like to thank her for all her hard work over the past couple of years and wish her every success in the future. We have had staff returning from maternity leave and Mrs Stride will be going on maternity in the autumn half term. Taking all this into account and the needs of the children the teachers for next year are as follows Reception: Mrs Simpson Year 1: Mrs Winnall Year 2: Mrs Bessant and Mrs Pavey Year 3: Mrs Stride and Mrs Pritchard Year 4: Mr Deveney Year 5: Mrs Evans and Mr Brown Year 6: Miss McLarnon
