SIXTH GRADE WEEKLY OUTLINE April 27 to May 8, 2020
-SCIENCE: Teacher: Carlos Moitiri Email address: [email protected] INTRODUCTION
Let me take this opportunity to welcome you to our new innovative virtual platform. Over the next two weeks,
we are going to work on a full review of section 3 about the natural causes that alter Food Systems and the
Harmful Effects of Human Activity on Food Systems.
Imagine that all the scavengers (vultures) disappear from an ecosystem. What do you think will happen? A part
from that, what do you think will happen if there were a volcanic eruption close to a forest? What are the
consequences of overexploiting our ecosystems? By the end of this lesson you will be able to answer these
questions and also understand the importance of taking necessary precautions to protect our ecosystem and
also acquire a basic scientific awareness.
Learning Activities
Activity# 1: Read, study in your Pathway to Science 6 textbook pages 42-45 then write the science

-SPELLING: E-mail: [email protected] TOPIC: DIVIDING WORDS INTO SYLLABLES
INTRODUCTION:
In order to improve your pronunciation, it helps to know how each word can be divided into syllables.
A syllable is a unit of organization for a sequence of speech sounds. A syllable is a single, unbroken
sound of a spoken (or written) word. Syllables usually contain a vowel and
accompanying consonants. Sometimes syllables are referred to as the ‘beats’ of spoken language.
Examples:
• Man has one syllable (monosyllabic) • Baby has two syllables (ba / by) • Computer has three syllables (com / pu / ter) • Animation has four syllables (A / ni / ma / tion)
This is the same Word List from previous weeks.
1. Abolish
2. Absence
3. Accident
4. Adequate
5. Admissible
6. Adopt
7. Advantage
8. Adventure
9. Adverb
10. Advisor
ACTIVITIES:
1. Watch the video and practice the pronunciation of each word. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_OLpR_NzKM
2. Divide each word into syllables. In order to do this you need to know the correct pronunciation of each word. Remember that your English cannot sound like Spanish.
Example: Absence Ab-sence Two syllables
3. Choose three words from the list and use its letters to write five more words. Do not invent
words.
Example: Admissible missile, able, bless, blame, miss
Email activities #2 and #3 as a Word document. Be sure to write your name
-ORAL SKILLS: E-mail: [email protected] TOPIC: EXPRESSING OPINIONS
INTRODUCTION:
An opinion is a personal point of view regarding a specific subject. Everybody is entitled to his or her
own opinion, but it's important to know what you're talking about. For example, if you don't know
anything about French cuisine, it would be best to not talk about it.
Two important things to remember when expressing an opinion are:
1. Be respectful 2. Only talk about things you know about
Look carefully at this picture:
ACTIVITY
Answer these questions speaking to somebody at home. (Do not write your answers):
1. What is happening in this cartoon? 2. What is different about the girl who is walking? 3. What kinds of things do you think the other girls are laughing about? 4. Have you ever made fun of another girl or boy your age? 5. What should you do if you see kids bullying another kid?

-ESPAÑOL: Profesora: Claudia Romero Correo: [email protected] TEMAS:

12 a 16 años?
