The Flame

Barrel

Collar

Rubber tubing to gas tap

Air-hole

Base

This piece of equipment is called a Bunsen burner, and it is used for heating up liquids and heating up other chemicals.

How to use the Bunsen burner.

Step1: put the Bunsen burner on a heat proof mat.

Step 2: connect the rubber tubing to the gas taps.

Step 3: close the air hole and then light a match.

Step 4: put the match on the end of the barrel and turn on the gas.

Measures ML

Round bottom

The test tube is used to mix chemicals, and measure how many ML’s are in the test tube.

How to use a test tube.Step 1:find out what your putting in it and how much of it.Step 2: pour the chemical or liquid into the test tube.

Legs (the things that keep it up)

The area for the gauze mat to hold up equipment

This piece of equipment is used for being able to heat things up with the Bunsen burner underneath.

How to use a Tri pod.Step1: put it on a tri pod.Step 2: put what ever you need to under it.Step 3: also put what you need on top of the tri pod.

Holes to hold the test tubes in places.

This equipment is used for holding test-tubes when they are not being used.

How to use the test tube rack.Step 1: well there is only one step its to put the test tubes in the holes.

Heat proof mat

This is used to prevent heat from getting to the surface below from melting.

How to use a heat proof mat.Step 1: put the mat on the table or bench.Step 2: put Bunsen burner on the mat.

The frame

Safety lenes

The glasses are used to protect our eyes, so that no bad chemicals can hurt our eyes.

How to use the safety glasses.Step 1: also with this one there is one step and that is to put them on.

Measures ML

Poring end

Base

Measuring Cylinder, this equipment is also used for measuring chemicals and other liquids.

How to use the measuring cylinder.Step 1: put a liquid in it to what ever amount of ML. Step 2: add another liquid if needed.

Base

Bose head and clamp

stand

This equipment is to hold up chemicals over a flame without touching it also holds things above the ground.

How to use a retort stand.Step 1: tighten the boss head to the stand.Step 2: then attach the clamp.Step 3: put what you need to on the clamp to hold above the ground.

The pouring end

Measures ML

Flat bottom

The conical flask is used to mix different liquids and to measure how many ML.

How to use the conical flask.Step 1: pour your chemicals into it until the correct amount of ML.Step 2: you can mix other liquids together.

Squeeze bulb

Glass tube

A small glass or plastic tube with a squeeze bulb on the end of it for moving small amounts of liquids

How to use the eye dropper.Step 1: squeeze the top of the eye dropper then put the tip in what ever liquid you need a drop of.Step 2: let go of the top then it will start to drip.

Liquids enter at this end

Liquids exit at this end

The funnel is used to pour liquids into a small hole.

How to use the funnel.Step 1: put the bottom in or on the hole so that the liquid don’t spill every where.Step 2: pour the liquids down the top end of the funnel.

The Top liquids can go in and out of.

ML and it is round

It can’t stand up by it’s self.

The round bottom flask is used to mix chemicals together and it can’t stand up straight because it has a round bottom.

How to use a round bottom flask.Step 1: hold the flask up straight Step 2: pour in what ever chemical you need.

Safety Rules

1. If glass or other equipment is broken tell the teacher.2. When you are working with chemicals make sure you wear safety goggles.3. When your mixing with food die or other chemicals make sure you wear a lap

coat.4. Never enter a unless given permission by a teacher. 5. Do not go into the preparation room unless asked to by a teacher.6. Always ask permission before using or touching the equipment.7. All experiments bust me approved by the teacher. 8. Never eat or drink in the science lab. 9. When smelling chemicals make sure you waft not breathing it in. 10. keep long hair away and clothes away from the flames and chemicals. 11. First ask how to use equipment before you try. 12. Always wash your hands after handling chemicals.

Why should We Follow These Rules

These rules will help you be safe in the science room with other students. You should always follow these rules when your with a teacher or by yourself. If you do not use these rules and you injure another student you will not be able to enter a science room again.

When you learn these rules they

will help you in future.
