in our filtration bottle effect the

    weight of the muddy water?

    Abstract

Filtration is very important to our daily life

We used sand and other materials to filter muddy water

    We also added activated charcoal

Overall, our experiment is a great success

    Introduction

Our aim is to find out which arrangement is the best

    way to filter muddy water.

Filtration has a very long history and it is still improving

    from time to time

We think arrangement 1 and 3 are the best arrangement

    Filtration is very useful

    Materials

150ml of beans 50ml per arrangement, 150ml of

sand 50ml per arrangement, 210ml of stone 70ml

per arrangement, 600ml of water(200ml per

mixture), 3 pieces of 7x9 filter cotton,1 bottles ofsparkling water(1liter per bottle), activated

charcoal 6 piece, weight scale, 1 bag of soil,

    beakers.

    Steps

First we put onebeaker on the

weight scale andset it to 0g

pour 200ml ofwater and addsoil until it is

    190.4g

    Cut the bottleinto half turn

    around the toppart and put

    arrangement 1in it

    Steps

Put the top parton to the other

    half of thebottle

Pour all themuddy waterinto the filter

and wait until allthe water flows

    down

Next, put thebeaker on to theweight scale and

    set it to 0g

    Steps

Pour thefiltrated waterto the beakerand put the

    beaker on to theweight scale

    Wash the bottleplus the

    charcoal and dryit

    Variables

We only change the arrangementsof the material inside the filterbottle.

    IndependentVariable

Amount of water, soil, and all thematerials in the filter bottleshould be equal.

    ControlledVariable

Weight of the soil water beforethe experiment and after theexperiment

    Results

    Weight (gram) Milliliters (ml)

    Arrangement 1 56g 150ml

    Arrangement 2 82.6g 170ml

    Arrangement 3 62.6g 150ml

From the results above, we found out that arrangement 1 was

the lightest. Follow by arrangement 3. Arrangement 2 was the

    heaviest with 82.6g.

    Conclusion

Why arrangement 2 was the heaviest and the water was

    brownish?

Our prediction is correct 1 and 3 is the best arrangement,

there was no sand in the water, also filtrated all the soil.

This whole process worked because of the water particles

    which were called molecules.

The mud particles were way bigger than molecules so they

could not get through the gaps and stuck in the filter.

    Suggestions and Evaluation

We didnt have much time, and didnt research much about

filtration. Also, we were not really organized

A television show about water pollution

Next time if we do it again, we will add more alkali in order

    to test the PH value.
