We will be working in groups this sessionThe group will stay together for the entire session.Participation in the group will be part of the grade.

Students will rate each others participation. All ratings will be confidential.

Teacher will rate participation based on observations during classes.

Groups will need to consist of:4 groups – 3 people eachAll interested in teaching the same grade levelAt least one person that is or has worked in the school

system at least one yearIt would be helpful if at least one person has a laptop

Who wants to teach elementary, middle, high?Who is presently or has worked in the school system?

Use the information to form groups.

Take 5 - 10 minutes to get to know your groups members better: Experience Educational Interests Educational Strengths and Weaknesses

If the group that you chose is not a good fit, tonight is the time to switch. As we go through the syllabus and expectations you will better be able to make this decision.

Groups will turn in group assignments to the group folder.

At the end of the night, make sure that all names are on your folders.

Individuals will receive a grade for group assignments based on 70% product30% ratings of teacher and groups members

Your first assignment is to create a project participation rubric that may be used to rate your group members. You may use a rubric maker from the web or create a paper and pencil rubric.This should be on how well each member contribute to

the assignment and will need to fit both “in class” group work and projects. You may decide to do two (one for each) or one that fits both types of activities.

This rubric will need to be emailed to me by Saturday or if you choose the paper/pencil it may be turned in tonight. We will vote on the one that will be used next week.

Cell Phones: Turn cell phones off during class.

Laptops: When we do group assignments in class it will be helpful for someone in your group to have your laptop here. Note however, laptops should be used for class activities and note taking. Surfing the web, working on projects for other classes, etc during class time will not be accepted and may be reflected in your class participation grade.

BreaksDiscussing GradesAssignments are considered late if I do not receive

them by 8:00 Thursday after the original due date. For example if your lesson plan is due on Wed 10th, it is considered late Thursday 11th at 8:01. Expect points to be taken off if an assignment is received late. NO WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE LAST CLASS.

Work turned in via email will not be printed out and comments will be made on a separate sheet of paper.
