YOUR DOORWAY TO THE PAST, THE PRESENT & THE FUTURE
The Library has completed renovations of its restrooms in order to make them energy-efficient, modern and
fully ADA compliant. Much of the funding for this renovation project came through the New York State
Library Construction Aid program. This renovation stayed within budget and on schedule. We appreciate the
community’s patience during the duration of this project.

Summertime is vacation time, offering us all an opportunity to catch up on leisure reading. Older fiction
and older non-fiction that are not on required reading lists may be borrowed on SUMMER VACATION LOAN and
will not be due back to the library until September 6th. This privilege is a courtesy extended only to those holding a
Seaford library card and does not include books checked out prior to July 3rd. Vacation loan books are not
renewable. Please also be sure to ask for vacation loan before checking out your books.

BLOOD DRIVE Monday, August 28th 2:00-8:00pm
In cooperation with the Long Island Blood Services, a division of
the New York Blood Center is proud to host a blood drive in the
Valentine Meehan Meeting Room. Anyone in good health
between the ages of 17 and 75 may donate blood. The procedure
generally takes 7-10 minutes. After your donation, you will rest
and have refreshments. ANYONE DONATING BLOOD
WILL RECEIVE TWO FREE METS TICKETS.

ESCAPE THE LIBRARY

Escape the library is a fun, interactive game taking place right at the library. While it looks like any ordinary room, it’s actually a
mystery puzzle. Find the hidden objects, figure out the clues, and solve the puzzle to earn your freedom and “escape the library.”
You have 60 minutes so be quick. Registration begins Monday, July 3rd.
CENTURY POP ART
Wednesday, July 26th 4:00-5:00pm
The British Invasion came to America in the 1960’s through many means. One of these was the new art style called “Pop Art.” New
York artist Andy Warhol made this popular art style famous in America. This class will focus on Warhol’s serigraph style of mass
production of modern images. The children will create their own serigraph stencil and silkscreen it on to paper in the style that made
Pop Art famous in the United States. Registration begins Monday, July 3rd.
GOT GAME

Come have fun at the library with an exciting new game which combines two shows, Minute to Win It and Family Feud. Registration

TEEN MOVIE: POWER RANGERS
Monday, July 31st 7:00- 9:00pm A group of high-school students, who are infused with unique superpowers, harness their abilities in order to save the world. Snacks
will be served. Registration begins Monday, July 3rd.
CARTOONING MADE EASY AND FLIP BOOK
Wednesday, August 2nd 4:00-6:00pm
Students will be instructed on the basics of cartooning so they can caricature the world around them and create original cartoons as
well as draw their favorite cartoon characters. No prior experience necessary. After that they will have the opportunity to bring their
animations to life in the form of a flip book. Each student will be able to make their drawings move as they animate original cartoons
of their own as well as some favorite cartoon characters. Registration begins Monday, July 3rd.
LINE DANCING
Monday, August 7th 7:00-8:00pm
Join Miss Catherine for a fun filled class, learning the basics of line dancing. Registration begins Monday, July 3rd.
HENNA ART
Wednesday, August 9th 4:30-6:30pm
Learn all about henna and have henna done on you! Registration begins Monday, July 3rd.
CUPCAKE WARS
Friday, August 11th 4:00-5:00pm
It’s cupcake vs. cupcake in this tasty competition! Teams brainstorm and decorate ½ a dozen cupcakes and present one cupcake to be
judged. The winning group will win a prize. The summer reading club winner will be announced at the end of the program!
Registration begins Monday, July 3rd.
The reading club is open to all who are entering Grades 5-12. Sign up at the Reference Desk and receive a Summer Reading Club Bag with goodies inside. WEEKLY RAFFLE DRAWING & A CHANCE TO WIN THE GRAND PRIZE — A $300

Many terrific programs are scheduled for the month of July. Animals from Cornell Cooperative Extension, Nick the Balloonatic, Whaling Museum, Candy the Clown, Darlene Graham and numerous craft
and science programs. Don’t forget to sign up for the “BUILD A BETTER WORLD” Summer Reading Program. This program is for all ages and is
aimed to encourage the enjoyment of books. For a complete schedule of events, pick up a calendar in the Children’s Room.
