SEARCH ENGINE
Search engines are programs that search documents for specified keywords and
returns a list of the documents.
A search engine is really a general class of programs.
A February 2012 Pew Internet survey finds that 91% of internet users use search
engines to find information on the web, up from 84% in June 2004.
Types of Search Engine:
Crawler-based search engines
Human-powered search engines
Crawler-based search engines are those that use automated software agents
that visit a Web site.
The crawler returns all that information back to a central depository, where
the data is indexed.
Human-powered search engines rely on humans to submit information that
is subsequently indexed and catalogued.
To obtain a high-ranking placement in the search results page, we have to
use search engine optimiser(SEO).
SEO is typically a set of "white hat" best practices that webmasters and Web
content producers follow to help them achieve a better ranking in search
engine results.
