Inspiration for the Ovation design came from Michael Saubert, who leads our Kenmore industrial design team. He and his daughter love to make waffles together and when she asked why they needed to stop the mixer to add the ingredients instead of pouring them into the middle of the bowl, a light went off for Michael. The team took on the challenge and began designing models and building prototypes, coming up with the patented de-sign you see today.

We’re Feeling the Love
Since Sears Holdings’ restructuring was announced, we have been inundated by so much positive sentiment – the love of our company is heartfelt across the country. We’ve received a number of enjoyable stories telling the tales of how Sears and Kmart are household names and how customers grew up with us. We heard a heart-warming story of a family of seven sisters, all who worked at Sears, notes from retirees who were grateful for being born at a time when the company was at its peak and worked at Sears because it was THE place to work, and an emotional good-bye video from a Kmart associate on the store’s last day.
These stories touch our hearts and encourage us to work even harder to ensure we are there for our members and communities, both in our remaining locations and online. All of America has shown an outpouring of their love and support and have also posted numerous messages of encouragement on our social media sites for Sears and Kmart.

Leadership Changes

Sears Holdings has enacted leadership changes in support of the continued transformation and restructuring process. As previously announced Edward S. Lampert has stepped down from his role as Chief Executive Officer. The Company’s Board has created an Office of the CEO, which is responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day operations during this process.
The Office of the CEO is composed of:
Robert A. Riecker, Chief Financial Officer – With more than 13 years with the company, Rob provides extensive experience in financial planning and analysis, capital markets and accounting. Leena Munjal, Chief Digital Officer – Leena brings deep experience in store operations, customer experience, digital and Integrated Retail to the office. Gregory Ladley, President of Softlines – With direct P&L responsibilities for Apparel, Footwear, Home & Jewelry, Greg brings 26 years of experience as a senior leader with prior experience at Ralph Lauren.
We are pleased with the synergy of the team and the initial contributions of the Office of the CEO as we continue to advance the company through the transformation and restructuring process while also serving our members and customers. Keeping It in the FamilyFor over 30 years, Rosemarie Sulek listened to stories from her neighbor, Celeste Fallon, about Ce-leste’s mother and aunts working at Sears - seven sisters total!
On her 85th birthday, Celeste shared an item from one of the Sears employee periodicals, specif-ically about Celeste’s mother, Helen Fenski, and Helen’s six sisters. Each of the seven Fenski sisters joyfully worked for Sears for years because, as it was said, Sears was THE place to work. Not only did all the sisters work for Sears, but some of their offspring did as well.
Rosemarie was fascinated hearing about this light-hearted and happy group of sisters who had a unique familial devotion to everything Sears and it was infectious to all who knew them. In the photograph accompanying the article, Helen, Celeste’s mother in the center, is surrounded by her charming group of Sears sisters.
