Seasons Greetings from Heritage Humane Society!  

We are gearing up for the holiday season here at Heritage Humane Society and it is going to be a busy one! We have some great events this holiday season including the Williamsburg Christmas Parade and the Christmas Bazaar. Giving Tuesday is also right around the corner on November 27th!  

We could not have done all of this without the help of our volunteers, fosterers, and auxiliary members. We are excited that the holiday season is right around the corner!  Room Escape Williamsburg Monday, November 5th, November 12th, November 19th, and November 26th 1215 Mt. Vernon Ave., Williamsburg, VA 23185 Interested in doing an interactive activity with your friends? Every Monday for the month of November 30% of the sales at Room Escape Williamsburg will be donated to the shelter. Click here to learn more.  

 Rock the Paws Saturday, November 17th from 9am - 1pm Williamsburg VA Rocks at Artfully Yours Studio 1303 Jamestown Rd. #117, Williamsburg, VA 23185 Bring your pet to Artfully Yours Studio on 11/17 for an event to benefit the homeless pets at the shelter. There will be music, a pet parade, an art exhibit, rocks available to paint, crafts, a pet photo booth, raffle prizes, food, and more! There will also be a costume contest, so feel free to dress up your pet and yourself! Click here to learn more. 

 

Williamsburg Christmas Parade Saturday, December 1st starting at 9am Heritage Humane Society will be a part of the Williamsburg Christmas Parade! Join us on 12/1 at the parade to usher in the holiday season. The team this year is “Miracle on DoG Street.” The parade route is on Richmond Rd. beginning at Brooks St. and through Merchant’s Square.   Christmas Bazaar Saturday, December 8th from 9 am - 3 pm Bruton Parish Hall, Duke of Gloucester St., Williamsburg, VA Join us at the annual Christmas Bazaar. All proceeds benefit the homeless pets at the shelter. There will be food, raffles, unique gifts, stocking stuffers, and more! Click here to learn more.

Updates and News  Holiday Adoption Coupon    Thinking about adopting a new pet this holiday season? Through the months of November and December, Heritage Humane Society is offering 25% OFF all adult pet adoption fees (for pets 10 months and older). Click here to learn more.  

   Giving Tuesday   Tuesday, November 27th On Nov. 27th people all around the world demonstrate goodwill and kindness by donating toward their favorite cause. Please join Heritage Humane Society on Nov. 27th in the Holiday Matching Gift Challenge!

Urgent Volunteer Needs  PetSmart We are looking for more volunteers to help at PetSmart. The store is off of Monticello Ave. Heritage Humane Society has cats/kittens housed in their adoption center. We need volunteer help with cleaning, care, and socialization time with the cats. Please email me to learn more.  

  Supply Donations We are in need of more pet supply donations for the pets at the shelter and for our community outreach program. Click here for the supply wish list. Our greatest needs right now are: dog/cat food, cat litter, and dog treats.  

 

Dog Handlers for Doggy Day Trips Interested in taking one of our adoptable dogs for a fun day trip to the park, or a hike, or Colonial Williamsburg? We are looking for more trained dog walker volunteers to take our adoptable dogs out for adventures in the community. Getting the dogs out of the shelter for a couple of hours is a great way to give them some much needed socialization time and exercise. Please email me for more information.

Volunteer Spotlight  Volunteer Highlight: Chrissy Rollins 

  We want to highlight one of our amazing volunteers Chrissy Rollins this month. Chrissy has been a volunteer with Heritage Humane Society for more than 10 years! She is such an essential part of the shelter and her smiling face always makes tough days here a little better.   

She is always willing to help out. She has her hands in almost everything here at Heritage Humane Society. She has been a fantastic foster mom for countless pets that have come through our doors.   She is also a huge help in taking dogs for walks to get much needed socialization and exercise. She helps walking dogs both at the shelter and at offsite trips and adventures. Something simple like taking one of our adoptable dogs on a field trip to the park for the afternoon goes a long way in keeping them happy and healthy. She is always willing to help and we are so lucky to have her as a volunteer!   On behalf of all the staff and the animals, we wanted to give a BIG THANK YOU to Chrissy for her support, compassion, and kindness over the years.
