    Required Collateral Items

    The following items are required for each property:

    1. Business Cards

    2. Guest Directory

    3. Stationery

    Asia only:

    1. Property Brochure/Rack Card

    General Printing Requirements

    1. Letterhead and envelopes must match.

    a. If a full color BEST WESTERN logo is used, the envelope must use a full color or blue Best Western logo.

    b. If a one color BEST WESTERN logo is used, the same logo must print on the envelopes.

    2. The Best Western logo can print in:

    a. Full color

    b. Best Western blue

    c. Best Western gray

    d. Best Western gold

    e. Black

    3. When the words BEST WESTERN are displayed in text next to a Property name, BEST WESTERN must appear in all caps.

    4. When a full-color logo is used, the color bar must print in Best Western blue and type must print in Best Western blue or black.

    5. When a one-color logo is used, the color bar must print in the same color and type must print in the same color or black.

    6. When the color bar is used it must:

    a. Appear at the top.

    b. Bleed off the page.

    7. When a property logo is displayed:

    a. It must be branded with the words BEST WESTERN, BEST WESTERN PLUS, or BEST WESTERN PREMIER in all capital letters.

    b. It must be separate from the BEST WESTERN logo by at least the width of the BEST WESTERN logo used unless otherwise specified in this manual.

    c. It may print in its own colors.

    d. The property address may print in one of the property logo colors when placed immediately below the property logo.

    Use of the Best Western Legal Line in North America

    8. The legal line Each Best Western branded hotel is independently owned and operated. is a mandatory requirement for all:

    a. Brochures

    b. Front Office forms

    c. Letterhead (property/in-room)

    d. Postcards

    e. Print advertising

    f. Rack cards

    g. Sales folders

    h. Websites

    9. Legal line must:

    a. Be displayed centered at the bottom of each single-page printed piece, or centered at the bottom on the cover page of a multi-page printed piece.

    b. Be at least 6pt. in the ITC Century Book Condensed or Helvetica Neue typeface.

    Property Business Cards

    The BEST WESTERN logo is mandatory on this item. The technical specifications listed in this section must be followed.

    1. The BEST WESTERN logo must be 5/8 (15.5mm - 19mm max) wide and must be placed on the left of a horizontal card or centered at the top of a vertical card.

    2. The color bar must be 3/16 (5mm) where required or displayed.

    3. Type must follow the following guidelines:

    a. Property name must be in ITC Century Book Condensed.

    b. Property information must be set in Helvetica Neue Light.

    c. Property phone number and reservation line may be in Helvetica Neue Medium.

    4. A property logo must display on the right of a horizontal business card or on the bottom of a vertical business card and must be sized as following:

    a. Horizontal property logo - 1 3/4 x 5/8 (45mm x 16mm) or 1 5/8 x 1/2 (42mm x 13mm)

    b. Vertical property logo - 1 x 1 1/4 (25mm x 32mm)

    5. For multi-property business cards, only Best Western hotels are permitted.

    6. Management company and multiple property business cards that include brands other than Best Western are not permitted to display at Best Western properties. Use of the BEST WESTERN logo on a management company business card must be approved by Best Western International Brand Identity.

    7. For bilingual cards, it is preferable to place one language on the front and the same information in the other language on the reverse side.

    Business Card Style Options

    Standard White

    Card is white or off-white and uses established templates.

    8. Any approved BEST WESTERN logo may be used.

    9. Color bar is required.

    10. Layout must follow established templates displayed in the technical specifications at the end of this section.

    Full Color

    Card can be any color and may include full bleed, photos & patterns.

    11. Full-color Best Western logo is required.

    12. Type must print in Best Western blue, black or white.

    Foil/Silk Screen

    Card is Best Western blue or black.

    13. BEST WESTERN logo may print as gold or silver foil/silk screen.

    14. Type must print in same color as logo.

    Guest Directory Requirements

    The technical specifications listed in this section must be followed.

    1. When the color bar is used, it must be 1/4 (6.5mm) thick unless otherwise specified.

    2. The property name must be branded with the words Best Western in all caps, if not displayed immediately below the Best Western logo.

    3. The words Guest Directory or Guest Information are recommended and, if used, must be placed in the ITC Century Book Condensed font.

    Paper Directory Options

    Standard White

    4. The BEST WESTERN logo:

    a. Is required.

    b. Must be centered at the top.

    c. Any approved BEST WESTERN logo may be used.

    d. Must be between 1 (25mm) and 2 1/8 (54mm) wide.

    5. Color bar is required.

    6. When displayed, property logo must:

    a. Fit into an area of 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 (95mm x 64mm).

    b. Be centered at the bottom of the directory.

    7. Photographs of your property and/or nearby attractions may be used provided Section 1 requirements are met.

    Color

    8. Full-color BEST WESTERN logo is required and must be:

    a. Centered on the front at the top.

    b. Between 1 (25mm) and 2 1/8 (54mm).

    9. The color bar is optional and where displayed must be 1/4 (6.5mm) thick.

    10. Paper can be any color and may include full bleed, photos and patterns as long as the full-color Best Western logo is used.

    a. Type must print in Best Western blue, black or white.

    11. Gold and silver-foil/silk screen BEST WESTERN logos are allowed if paper color is Best Western blue or black.

    a. Type must print in same color as logo.

    12. When displayed, property logo must:

    a. Fit into an area of 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 (95mm x 64mm).

    b. Be centered at the bottom of the directory.

    Single Page

    13. The BEST WESTERN logo:

    a. Is required.

    b. Must be displayed at the top.

    c. Any approved Best Western logo may be used.

    d. Must be 3/4 (19mm) wide.

    14. Color bar is required and must be 1/4 (6.5mm) thick.

    15. Must be clearly marked with the words Guest Directory or Guest Information.

    16. Must be laminated.

    17. When displayed, property logo must fit within 3 1/4 x 1 (83mm x 25mm)

    18. May be printed on both sides.

    Vinyl/Leather Directory Options

    19. When the BEST WESTERN logo is displayed:

    a. The cover must be white, off-white, Best Western blue, Best Western gray, black, brown or burgundy.

    b. The logo and text must be either blind embossed or stamped foil/silk screened in gold or silver.

    c. If white or off white leather/vinyl is used, shield must print in gold or silver foil with the elements in white or off white.

    d. Must be centered at the top.

    e. Must be 2 1/4 (54mm) wide.

    20. When displayed, property logo must:

    a. Fit into an area of 3 1/4 x 2 (83mm x 51mm).

    b. Be centered at the bottom of the directory.

    21. Without BEST WESTERN logo:

    a. Cover may be any color.

    b. Property logo may be anywhere on the cover.

    A blank cover (no words at all) may be used, provided proper branding (BEST WESTERN logo or words BEST WESTERN) is used in conjunction with the Property name on the pages within.

    Property Envelopes

    The BEST WESTERN logo is mandatory on this item. The technical specifications listed in this section must be followed for all Property envelopes and for in-room envelopes that are branded.

    1. BEST WESTERN logo must be 3/4 (19mm) wide.

    2. The envelope must match letterhead.

    3. Paper must be a minimum of 24lb (80 gsm) high quality in bright white or off white. Recycled paper of this weight is acceptable.

    4. Type style:

    a. Property name must be in ITC Century Book Condensed.

    b. Property address and other information must be set in Helvetica Neue Light.

    5. For multi-property envelopes, only Best Western hotels are permitted.

    6. When displayed, color bar must be 1/4 (6.5mm) thick.

    7. When displayed, a property logo must comply with the following measurements:

    1. Any approved BEST WESTERN logo may be used provided it is centered on the front at the top.

    2. Matching color bar is required.

    3. All type to print in black.

    4. Property name or logo must be branded and must appear at the bottom of the brochure. It may print in the propertys brand colors.

    5. Location Information must only use two lines with a graphic line separation, and can use one of the following combinations:

    a. City and state.

    b. City and province.

    c. City and country.

    d. City and Best Western-branded property name.

    6. Must display property photo, destination shot or artwork. The image area cannot exceed the specified maximum area of 3 5/16 x 4 3/8 (84mm x 110mm).

    Back Cover

    1. Color bar is required and must match the front cover.

    2. All type to print in black.

    3. Property address and phone number is required.

    4. Must display any property photos, destination shots, artwork and/or maps within the image area. The image area cannot exceed 3 1/8 x 4 7/8 (79.5mm x 124mm).

    5. Placement of elements may vary.

    Design is at the discretion of each property provided it is approved by Best Western International. A BWO office (e.g., BW Germany) can approve the layouts of their members brochure.

    When a brochure uses a full-bleed color, photos or patterns

    1. Full-color BEST WESTERN logo is required and must be centered on the front at the top or bottom or centered anywhere on the back.

    2. Type must print in the Best Western blue, black or white.

    3. Color bar is optional.

    When the brochure is foil stamped or silk screened

    1. Background color must be Best Western blue or black.

    2. A gold or silver Best BEST WESTERN logo must be centered on the front at the top or bottom or centered anywhere on the back.

    3. Type must print in same color as logo.

    Use of another language

    1. Local language may be displayed provided the English language has equal to or a more prominent placement.

    2. Property Name must appear in Latin alphabet and must be equal to or larger than the local language translation.

    In Asia only

    1. A standard size 100/105mm x 210mm (4 x 9) brochure is required.

    2. A BWO approved Brochure rack is required and must display brochures of other Best Western properties in the region.

    Front Office FormsBest Western branding is mandatory.

    1. When the BEST WESTERN logo is used:

    a. Must be maximized within the space available on front office forms and print at least 1/2 (12.5mm) wide. Because there is a wide variety of business forms available it is not possible to specify a specific size requirement for the BEST WESTERN logo.

    b. May be reproduced in full color or in any of the approved one-color applications

    c. Must not be the full-color logo when printing in black & white. The single-color black BEST WESTERN logo must be used. The full-color Best Western logo may not be printed in black or grayscale.

    2. When the words BEST WESTERN are used they must comply with the general guidelines.

    3. Type layout:

    1. Property postcards may use photographs of the property or local scenery.

    2. Local attractions may also be used, subject to image rights usage restrictions. If you choose to use a photograph of a local attraction, be sure to secure written permission before using the image on the property postcard.

    3. Due to strict postal regulations, please contact your local postal office for details.

    North America Sales Folders The BEST WESTERN logo and legal line are mandatory on this item. The technical specifications listed in this section must be followed. Alternate designs are at the discretion of each property provided they are approved by Best Western International.

    1. Best Western Logo must:

    a. Be 1 (25mm) wide

    b. Be centered on the front at the top or bottom or centered anywhere on the back.

    c. Be full color; or for standard white paper may be any of the approved one color options: Best Western blue, Best Western gray, Best Western gold or black.
