Question of the Week

How am I challenged to live my life differently? Can I recognize the Spirit when I am challenged to change?

Share Your Faith Support the Collection for the Church in Latin America

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

During the weekend of January 26-27, our diocese will take up the national Collection for the Church in Latin America. Last year, when Pope Francis opened registrations for World Youth Day in Panama, he said, “WYD is for the courageous! Not for young people who are searching only for comfort and who with-draw whenever difficulties arise. Do you accept the challenge?”

You have helped young people accept the challenge to grow in faith by your ongoing support for the Collection for the Church in Latin America. Your generosity is helping the young people of the Archdiocese of Panama build relationships with one anoth-er, with their peers throughout Latin America, and with the rest of the world as they prepare for World Youth Day 2019. This is a tremendous event in the life of the Church, and these young people are now experiencing it to the fullest! Your have given them the opportunity to grow as leaders and to develop missionary hearts.

Please be generous in this collection. Take this opportunity to share your faith with young people in Latin America and the Caribbean. Your support will truly make a difference. Thank you and God bless your.

Most Reverend R. Daniel Conlon Bishop of Joliet

BLOOD DRIVE Saturday, February 2nd 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Did you know that we must collect 950 - 1000 units of blood every day to meet the daily demand for blood and that demand is rising. Less than 5% of the 38% eligible population donates. Statistics say that 95% of us will need Blood during our lifetime. And that each year more than 4.5 million Americans would die without lifesaving Blood transfusions! Is your life worth an hour of someone's time?. Is someone else’s life worth and hour of your time?

Sign up today in the lobby for our Blood Drive on February 2nd from 1:00 - 6:00 pm. We also will be taking the names of anyone who wants to work the drive or bake for the donors.

DAMIEN A ONE-MAN PLAY BY ALDYTH MORRIS

~ AN INSPIRATIONAL TRUE STORY

On Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 1501 S. Main Street in Lombard. The performance starts at 7:30 pm (doors open at 6:45 pm). The star of the show is Wayne Messmer, known in Chicago as the renowned singer of the National Anthem at sporting events, but he is also recognized as an author (The Voice of Victory), broadcaster and actor.

The play deals with the life of Father Joseph DeVeuster (Father Damien, the leper priest of Molokai) in Hawaii. Between 1873- 1889, Father Damien dedicated his life to helping the lepers and making their time in seclusion more honorable and meaningful. He was canonized a Saint on October 11, 2009.

The play is very powerful and moving, and Wayne Messmer becomes Father Damien for the audience.

Makayla" came to us very upset and was not sure if she could parent another child as she was already the mom of four children

ranging in age from 1 to 13. She was not in a relationship with the father of the baby and the pregnancy would cause a lot of financial stress. She was very uncertain of her future and hesitant to tell her parents, as they would not support abortion, an option she was seriously consid-ering. The team provided her with her first ultrasound and window into the womb and Makayla left making a plan for life; undecided now between parenting and adoption. She returned for a follow-up ultrasound and was now leaning more toward parenting as she had support from her baby's father. She was very excited to share the news of the birth of her baby girl "Leslie" just before Christmas!
