For the treatment of maturity-onset diabeticswho do not respond adequately to dietarycontrol, including those with impaired renalfunction.Each tablet contains gliquidone 30 mg.Usual adult dose 45-60 mg daily in divideddoses taken before meals. Maximum singledose 60 mg, maximum daily dose 180 mg. SeeData Sheet for details.Supplied in bottles of 100 tablets.PL 0071/0155.Basic N.H.S. cost of 100 tablets £11.06Contra-indications. Juvenile diabetics andpatients subject to stress of surgery or acuteinfections. Pregnancy.Precautions. Care in anuric patients and inthose with severe hepatic failure. Diabeticswho miss a meal should be warned not to taketheir dose of Glurenorm. Because of the largenumber of drug interactions withsulphonylureas, the effect of concurrentmedication should be considered (see DataSheet).Side effects. Minor skin allergies, gastricupsets and other non-specific side effectshave been reported. Hypoglycaemicreactions have been reported but they areinfrequent. Treatment consists ofcarbohydrate (oral or i.v.) or glucagon(1 mg s.c.).
