EP1169 Urethane Crossmember F&R

Polyurethane bush kit to replace large rear cross member mounting bushes. Common and important suspension upgrade for this vehicle for all driving situations. The entire rear suspension and driveline of the VE Commodore is mounted to the vehicle body using 4 voided rubber mounts originally designed to improve noise, vehicle and harshness characteristics. These rubber mounts allow the rear crossmember to "walk around" giving the driver a sense that rear wheels are uncoupling from the chassis. This issue is particularly noticeable during cornering over undulations in the road requiring constant steering inputs to maintain straight ahead. Pedders EP1169 virtually eliminates this problem.

Pedders Suspension SportsRyder Extreme XA Adjuster Flexible Extensions are designed to lock onto the damping adjuster button of Pedders SportsRyder Extreme Xa Coilovers. This allows hard to get at damping adjusting buttons to be extended to a more accessible location in the vehicle. Flexible extensions will work on angles of up to 35 degrees and can extend the adjuster up to 250mm from the top of the damper itself. Favoured locations are rear parcel shelves, rear wheel wells and brackets or panels in and around the boot or hatch.

Pedders Suspension has a full set of raised height country pack coils for those VE Commodores that need just that little extra ground clearance for country driving. When towing a caravan, boat or trailer the rear of the vehicle will squat noticeably. The Pedders Suspension 7955 heavy duty towing coils are specifically designed to enhance the vehicles load carrying characteristics. They are also particularly suitable for reps who are often carrying loads by trailer or in the boot of the vehicle.

SportsRyder products, either as stand alone replacement parts or when integrated into a full SportsRyder suspension system, effectively out-perform original equipment whilst at the same time enhancing a vehicle’s handling characteristics. SportsRyder lowered coil springs improve traction, ride quality, turn-in and cornering ability whilst offering greater steering precision and stability under braking. Pedders provides you with a 2 tiered approach to lowering the VE Commodore. The first approach with the use of the 2956 & the 2957 coils provides an all round lowering approach that is suitable for normal everyday street driving.

The second tiered approach of lowering for the VE Commodore is through the use of the 2954 & 2955 coils that provide an aggressive stance for that ‘show’ and performance look.

* Rim to guard measurements vary from car to car and are to be used as a guide only. Certain factors such as towbars, sound systems, gas, aftermarket or optional wheels, engine type and other optional items to the vehicle add additional weight and play a part in the final ride height measurements of the car. Pedders Suspension takes a typical rim to guard measurement from the lowest point at the centre of the guard to the lowest point of the rim. The Pedders Suspension EP1169 is a polyurethane insert kit that upgrades the large rear cross member mounting bushes. This is a common and important suspension upgrade for this vehicle for all driving situations. The Entire Rear Suspension and Rear Driveline of the VE Commodore is mounted to the vehicle body using 4 voided rubber mounts originally designed to improve Noise, Vibration and Harshness characteristics. These rubber mounts allow the rear Crossmember to “walk around” giving the driver a sense that the rear wheels are uncoupling from the chassis. A look at the standard layout of an engine bay demonstrates that it is effectively a three sided box, with the cross member at the bottom. Because there must be a bonnet opening to allow access to the engine, there is no fixed top side or ‘lid’ to the ‘box’. Without a further (top) side, the ‘U’ shaped chassis structure (engine bay) can more easily flex, particularly at the point at the top of the strut towers where high cornering loads are fed in from the suspension.

A simple way of reducing flex at this point – and improving the responsiveness and feel of the suspension – is to fit a strut tower bar

which effectively closes the fourth side of the box, improving rigidity and reducing flex.

Sway BarsThe Pedders SportsRyder sway bars (or anti-roll bar) connect the left and right hard wheels together through a high quality torsion spring. A Pedders sway bar increases the suspension’s roll stiffness - its resistance to roll in turns, indpendent of its spring rate in the vertical direction. This delivers the following benefits:• Reduction of body roll during cornering thus providing more stable ride and handling.• Tunes the understeer & oversteer characteristics of the vehicle. Compared here we see a direct comparison of the OE 18mm & Pedders 429006-20 Sway Bars for the Commodore VE. There is also an option of larger SportsRyder sway bars which increases vehicle roll stiffness aiding cornering, handling and stability. The Pedders range of rear sway bars are not only thicker than OE to further reduce body roll in the turns, but also features multiple mounting positions to shorten the swing arm length, thereby increasing its effectiveness.

Note that in our experience the worn out O.E. unit may create an annoying knocking noise prior to total failure.

Front End Alignment

Pedders 5421 Caster Lock Washers assist to correct the vehicle pulling to one side thus allowing the car to drive straight. Once installed the 5421 is a once only adjustment with a set and forget method of application.

The 5421 is made from durable anodised steel. This caster lock washer positively corrects the vehicles wheel alignment caster via an offset lock washer. One kit per car.

Rear Alignment

Power Steering Gears

Pedders re-manufactures its range of steering gears to ISO 9001 standards. By following stringent ISO 9001 protocol, every Pedders re-manufactured

power steering unit is completely disassembled with each individual component being measured, rebuilt and tested to meet specifications equal to or

better than Original Equipment (OE) standards.

Because of this, Pedders offer a two year/ 40,000km warranty on its re-manufactured power steering gears. There simply is no better quality available

in the market today.

Did you know that Power Steering Fluid is one of the most neglected areas of car servicing?

Power Steering Fluid is rarely scheduled for a change as part of your vehicles regular servicing schedule. Extreme operating pressures and

temperatures reduce the life of power steering fluid. Regular maintenance will minimise the risk of power steering component failure and such a

service will prolong the life of your vehicles power steering system. The power steering pump operates continuously whenever the car’s engine is

running. The constant rotation of the pump produces microscopic metal particles which are circulated continuously throughout the system, causing

constant wear not only to the pump, but also to other components such as the bearings, seals, valves and piston. Pedders’ power steering service can

also upgrade your system with the fitting of a filter to minimise this wear and tear. Such filters are not yet standard in power steering systems.

The servicing involves inspection of the power steering fluid, hoses, connections, clamps, drive belt and hose routing. The pump is checked for

mechanical operation, correct belt alignment and tension and all pump and rack mounts are inspected and secured.

Pedders USA Pontiac G8 Track Test VideoA group of Pontiac G8s are run on a skid pad at the New Jersey Motorsports Park by professional drivers Chris Brannon and Stan Wilson. The group

includes: (1) Stock G8 and (3) Pedderised and ProCharged G8s. Three of the G8s run on Bridgestone tires. The OE G8 booked a .88 on the pad. The

Pedders 5421 Caster Lock Washers assist to correct vehicle

pulling to one side whilst moving thus allowing the car to drive

straight. Once installed the 5421 is a once only adjustment

with a set and forget method of application.

The 5421 is made from durable anodised steel. This caster

lock washer positively corrects the vehicles wheel alignment

caster via an offset lock washer. One kit per car.

The Pedders Suspension EP1169 is a polyurethane insert kit that upgrades the large rear cross member mounting bushes. This is a common and important

suspension upgrade for this vehicle for all driving situations. The Entire Rear Suspension and Rear Driveline of the VE Commodore is mounted to the vehicle body

using 4 voided rubber mounts originally designed to improve Noise, Vibration and Harshness characteristics. These rubber mounts allow the rear Crossmember

to “walk around” giving the driver a sense that the rear wheels are uncoupling from the chassis. This issue is particularly noticeable during cornering or over

undulations in the road thus requiring constant steering inputs to maintain straight line stability. Pedders EP1169 virtually eliminates this problem.

Easy FitmentThe bolts from the rear subframe are removed after a transmission jack is placed under the differential to support the subframe and differential during the installation of the Pedders EP1169 subframe bushing inserts.

The EP1169 are then installed once the subframe retaining bolts are removed. There are 8 bushings in the kit. Each insert bush fits in only one specific bushing orifice. Once the insert is correctly timed to the bushing, it presses easily into place by hand.

How does it drive?By reducing the rear subframe motion, hard launches will be more efficient. The subframe stays correctly aligned to the chassis and doesn’t waste energy by shifting or twisting. Instead, the energy goes more directly to the pavement.

Rear-end step out when cornering that was so evident in stock trim is virtually eliminated.
