Prayers for the ChurchAnglican Church in North America: Bishop Derek Jones and his wife Connie; Bishop Mark Nordstrom and his wife Christine; Bishop Michael Williams and his wife Becky; and the Diocese of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy. In 2014, the Special Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy was accepted as a full diocese in the ACNA. Under the oversight of the bishop, the Diocese of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy supports the endorsement and care of chaplains serving in the US military, federal and local government, hospital and hospice, law enforcement and other vocational and volunteer chaplains serving their communities. The diocese is the endorsing agency and canonical residence for professional chaplains in the Anglican Church in North America, and also partners with many other ministries to help the church spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In an interview with Virtue On Line (VOL), Bishop Jones said the diocese now has more than 200 chaplains, with new chaplains coming on board, and about 30 chaplains engaged in church planting or church ministry expansion in 11 different jurisdictions of the ACNA. The chaplain ministry is completely self-funded, either through vocational means or through raising their own support, and in turn, support the diocese. The youngest chaplain in the Diocese of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy is 25, and was recently commissioned to serve as a chaplain is in United States Army. The oldest chaplain is 82, and is serving as a circuit chaplain to nursing homes and in a hospital.Among other ministries, the diocese operates The Centurion Project, an intense four-day retreat designed to build community and to bring spiritual, physical, mental and emotional renewal and vitality to those who suffer from post-traumatic stress and post-traumatic stress disorder, combat operational stress, trauma, and moral injury through times of fellowship and solitude, under Holy Spirit-guided prayer and worship. The diocese also operates two church plants in Guatemala (the first in a shantytown at the entrance to a large city dump) and Visions of Grace, a ministry that provides eye care and eye glasses to adults and children in third world countries. Encouragement for your prayer time with GodGod says that I can hear him without having to do anything special.“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire—but my ears you have opened—burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.” (Psalm 40:6) “Whoever belongs to God hears what God says.” (John 8:47a)

Prayers, support needed for Kairos weekendA Kairos weekend at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville is coming up at the end of the month. Pat Linder, who attended the most recent Kairos weekend at ORW, shares below how we can help.

Thank y’all for everything you did to help me with Kairos ORW #50 last spring. I was overwhelmed with such generous support from this congregation. The Lord did indeed move among the participants and team members working His way and even some miracles. I’ll be happy to share those experiences if you ask.

As some of you know, I joined the Kairos ORW #51 team that will be going into the prison Oct. 24-27. Several of you have already contributed decorating talents, prayer commitments, and $ donations. Again, thank you SO MUCH. However, recent health concerns have required me to drop off this particular team. Kairos still needs prayers to cover everyone during the weekend and monetary donations to pay for all the food and materials. I will be at church on Sundays, Oct. 13 and 20, during the coffee time soliciting prayers and donations. I can accept cash donations of $10 each for meal tickets for the participants as well as checks (in any amount) made out to Kairos of Ohio with Kairos ORW #51 in the memo line. If you wish to contribute through St. Andrew’s, please write Kairos ORW #51 in the memo line and St. Andrew’s can write a composite check for the total.

Thank you again for opening your hearts and your wallets to help bring the message of Jesus’s love and peace to those who struggle.

Blessings, Pat Linder

Thanks to those who helped prep for Rummage SaleJulie Baldwin extends a huge thank-you to everyone who helped sort and price merchandise in the garage in preparation for the Harvest Festival Rummage Sale. What seemed like an overwhelming task was made easy because of several amazing people, including Patti Cooper, Bonnie Freeman, Jackie Menke, Debbie Sterling, Cindy Verhoff, and Joyce and Chuck Waddell. Double thanks to Joyce and Chuck Waddell, who helped Julie get started two weeks ago. Since then, the garage was filled up by little leprechauns magically appearing and bringing us lots of goodies. Thank you to everyone who donated your treasures, too. We ended up with a lot of things to sell.
