What is the value of self-esteemin communication andorganisations?

Good self-esteem has often been seen as aprerequisite to success.

Contrary to popular belief, many successful

people may not have high self-esteem butare striving to gain it.

However, achieving goals generally leads tohigher self-esteem and good self-esteem isnecessary to be a good communicator.

    What is self-awareness?

Self-awareness is an awareness of how otherssee us.

This may not be the same as our self-concept.

If the messages reflected back from people donot match our self-concept, we can do one ofthree things:

ignore or distort the messages from others, change our behaviour so that others see usdifferently, or

change our self-concept to match thereflected image.
