The development of semantic 3D city models has
brought in rapid changes in urban management such
as emergency and catastrophe planning, checking
building developments, and utility networks.

Geospatial semantic Analytics ( GSA)
Semantic 3D models of form encode the geometry
as well as the identity of key components of a facility,
Ex: Building floors, walls, ceiling, stairs, accesses
etc.

Geospatial semantic Analytics ( GSA)
Volume of data for analytics
Complex and non standard data models
Tough to design and implement

Outside and inside building
scanning results in a large
datasets.
It is needed to have a
inherent automated data
tagging modeling to manage
and use the data

It is rapid and cost effective way to develop usable 3d
data.
For ex: Building paths ways, emergency exit and
evacuation schemes.

Classification of building will help to access the
Semantic library information quicker.
External business analytics data integration will help
to evaluate alternate methods quickly.
Ex: total number of people in building and floor wisedistribution.

Spatial data elements as big as building blocs to as
small as window shall have to developed as genericobjects.
Element design and implementation is a multi
domain and also have strong regulatory aspects.
Ex: For a sustainable building, all the design and
construct items shall have to reviewed by the
Building control Authority of the city.

CityGML plays a key role in making GIS & BIM to work together.
Initiative of OGC to give a semantic city model ( since 2005) isthe first step to integrate 3D GIS models into upstream activities.
BIM follows IFC standards which will also handle schedule, cost
estimates, along with walls, roofs, floors, doors and other objects
of building inventory.

3D modeling for spatial data is multi faceted and incremental.
Handover and hand holding with next player should be done
with a greater care and understanding.
Geometric data+ Semantic models+ Business Analytics = based for
Sustainable smart city design, development and maintenance.
