Please join us at the Ehlers Event Center as we honor all who served in the military. All Veterans are welcomed and will participate in the event. Each branch of the military will be recognized.

The Buena Park Chapter’s of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion will be represented. The event will be followed by dinner for the first 100 veterans and their guest, this will be a great time of fel-lowship.

Food Distribution Programs

Senior Grocery Program: Thursday, November 4 & 18 at 10:15am. Regular schedule. Program by Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. This is a walk up process.

Monthly USDA Food Distribution Program: Wednesday, November 10 at 8:30am

The Senior Grocery Program and Monthly USDA Food Distribution programs help seniors to fight food insecurity and add nutrition to their lives. Program by Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.

CSFP Program - Free box of food for seniors (60 years and older) Eligible individuals will receive a box of food. Income limits apply Bring your photo ID. Call (714)897-6670 ext. 3612 or ext. 3613 for more information. Program by Community Action Partnership.

ST*R Senior Transportation Program Do you need a ride to the center? There are a lot of program and classes for you to join. The bus will pick you up from your home in the morning and take you back in the afternoon; Monday through Thurs-day. This program is open to Buena Park Seniors 60 years and older. Call (714)236-3874 to fill out an application. This program is free to seniors enrolled in the program.

Grocery shopping trips are open to seniors enrolled in the transportation program. The bus leaves from the center on Monday & Tuesday at 10:00am returning to the center at 11:30am. This program is free to seniors enrolled in the program.

Senior Excursions travel to local destinations of interest . These trips are scheduled monthly. Contact (714)236-3870 for more details.

Our Senior Non–Emergency Medical Transpor-tation Services better known as our ST*R (Senior Transportation Runabout) van oper-ates Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00am - 2:00pm. This service can be used for doctors appointments, grocery shopping and prescription pickups. If you need a ride please give us a call at (714) 236-3870 or you can reach us at [email protected].

Social Work Assistance Rosemary Nielsen, Licensed Clinical Social Worker is available by

appointment Tuesday & Thursday 7:30-5:30pm. If you are in crisis, feel-ing isolated or need to chat. Please call to make an appointment (714) 236-3876.

Did you know the Buena Park Senior Activity Center collects and disposes of these items? As a service to the community, the City of Buena Park has containers to collect these items so they can be disposed of properly. Containers located outside the front door 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday - Friday.

Mark’s Remarks Happy Thanksgiving month! We are thankful for you and the fact you are a part of the center. We invite our veterans to attend the Veterans Honor Walk on Wednesday, November 10 at 5:00pm. Please join us as we honor those that served. This years event will feature the Captain, Frank Nunes (USMC) of the Buena Park Police Department. Be sure to look out for one another. Staff want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. As we are getting ready for the holidays be sure to join us for the tree lighting on December 3 6:00pm at City Hall and Candy Cane Land on December 4 at The Ehlers Event Center 10:00am – 4:00pm.

As we welcome more seniors to the center be sure to follow all health guidelines. Wear a mask, be safe, wash your hands and stay home if you are sick.
