GCSF ENDOWMENT CAMPAIGN

The Germantown Community Scholarship Fund (GCSF) embarked on an Endowment Fundraising Campaign in 2006, the 25th anniversary of its founding. As a non-profit organization, GCSF relies on charitable contributions to continue to meet its scholarship goals.

To help spread the word about GCSF’s Endowment Fundraising Campaign, events are held throughout the community to generate additional donations. In February, over $3,000 was raised at the Annual Dinner & Auction for the Endowment Fund. In addition, approximately $54,808 was raised specifically for the scholarships awarded this year.

In total, since its inception, GCSF will have awarded more than $2.98 million in scholarships to 2,723 Germantown area students pursuing education at colleges, universities or vocational/technical schools.

The Endowment Fund is an investment that helps guarantee that GCSF’s work will continue for future generations. Please consider a contribution to GCSF’s Endowment Campaign as an investment in the future of our youth. In 2004, GCSF also recognized a need to support our Germantown School District teachers and staff in their efforts to help area students develop. Since starting the program GCSF has awarded $32,250 in grants. Community support and proceeds raised during the U.S. Bank Mud Splash--Run for Funds helped to raise money toward these Teacher Grants.

Elizabeth Mueller and Stephanie Kaebisch, Germantown High SchoolMindfulness Supplies: Materials used in teaching mindfulness to students during resource period, to help students manage their stress levels. These opportunities will help improve students’ cognitive social and emotional functioning.

Kimberly King, MacArthur Elementary SchoolClassroom literature and flexible seating: Books to have literary series of high interest to help develop a love for reading; flexible seating accommodates for individual learning styles and comfortable spaces to help kids focus and work independently as well as with others.

Whitney Betanzos, Kennedy Middle School3-D printer purchase: To encourage inquiry and hands-on investigations while incorporating all components of STEM education; also create cross curricular opportunities within the 6th grade house.

County Line Special Education Team, County Line Elementary SchoolUpdated edition of current reading curriculum: Newer curriculum has numerous improvements, allowing teachers to individually plan their lessons to meet each student’s needs, and help the reading program to grow and thrive.

Stacy Stoecklein, Germantown High School3D pens and filaments: This allows students to design and create their own models for human anatomy and physiology courses. Students will be able to learn a new modern tool, creating excitement for teacher and student.

Greg Siegert, Germantown High School (on behalf of Rockfield Elementary School)Specially designed PE equipment: Physical Education equipment designed for working with students with special needs at Rockfield Elementary School, much of which can be used to integrate them into the regular class so they can participate and enjoy in a safer manner.

The Germantown Community Scholarship Fund (GCSF) exists to help area students achieve their goals and live their dreams. We provide scholarship money to those graduates who will continue their education at a college, university or a vocational/technical school. Our theme for this year is “Growing Strong and Rooted in our Community,” reflecting on our decades-long superb relationship with local businesses and individuals.

The GCSF trust fund was initiated in 1981 by a donation from the Germantown Rotary Club in the amount of $10,000. A $200,000 donation in 1990 from the Germantown Volunteer Fire Company greatly increased the trust fund. The remaining scholarships are funded by donations from annual fundraising events, businesses, service organizations and individuals.

This year’s graduating seniors are fortunate to be the recipients of funds raised at a successful Annual Dinner & Auction, investment income from our Endowment Fund, and the generosity of 30 Named Scholarship Donors enabling GCSF to award $141,800 to these students. We sincerely thank all who contributed or helped in any way to offer these awards.
