SEPTEMBER 19, 2019 LET’S GET POWERED UP DAKTRONICS TEAM GETS THE SHOW GOING
The Entertainment Technology class at North, taught by Jan Bowe, is
gearing up for another crowd-pleasing year in the Doghouse. The
students have been busy learning how to manage and operate the
Daktronics Video Scoreboards in the Doghouse as part of their
curriculum.
Part of the learning is led by previous Daktronics students, who are now
teaching the system to new students. Tyler Bruns, North Junior who is in
his third year of working with the Daktronics system, helps teach new
students how to operate the Daktronics system. North graduate, Abdel
Gruetzmacher, who has worked with the Daktronics system since the
beginning, helps teach students how to troubleshoot, run the
livestreaming, etc.
The Daktronics Video Scoreboards are made possible by several
generous community businesses: Charter Bank, Coca-Cola, Kristo
Orthodontics, Markquart, Oakleaf Surgical Hospital/Chippewa Valley
Orthopedics, Mega Holiday, Bauer Built, Edward Jones, RBC Wealth
Management, Jimmy Johns, Safety & Respect Driving School, and
Student Transit.

2019 YEARBOOKS COMING SOON
We are still awaiting delivery of the 2019 yearbooks. We had
planned for a fall-delivery of the yearbooks, but we had a
very small yearbook staff last year and several of the pages
needed to be completed and/or edited extensively during
the summer. That said, we do anticipate delivery very soon.
Apologies on the delay.
When the books arrive, we plan to distribute them in the
NHS Commons during all lunch shifts for several days. There
will be notification via the daily announcements and on the
North website. If your son or daughter graduated in the
spring, a sibling or family friend will be allowed pick up a
yearbook with written permission (email is fine) to do so. Or,
if you let us know ahead of time, we can have the yearbook
at the reception desk in the main office. Please contact
Cheryl Boone with additional questions at. Thank you for
your patience and understanding!

STUDENT COUNCIL FALL BLOOD DRIVE STUDENTS STEP UP TO GIVE
After seeing numbers steadily decrease over recent years,
North High School Student Council got creative when getting
students signed up to give blood at the Annual Fall Blood
Drive. Eight student Council reps worked on the Blood Drive
Committee, 22 reps worked the registration booths and 6 reps
recruited donors during study halls. Their hard worked paid
off! Sixty-four students registered to give blood and 33
students registered as alternatives.
Another new idea to get students interested this year was offering Dairy
Queen dilly bars to donors when they finished giving blood. Student
Council reps secured 75 dilly bars per hour from Dairy Queen to offer
everyone who gave blood.
All in all, 48 units of blood was donated, each impacting as many as
three lives. The American Red Cross goal for the NHS Fall Drive was 34.
Great job!
Congratulations to Student Council on the success of their Blood Drive.
Great job Husky Community!!
Kevin Mesiar, Student Council Advisor, said
this was the most successful blood drive at
North in more than 10 years.

HUSKY WEARHOUSE GET INTO THE SCHOOL SPIRIT
What a great start to the school year! The Husky WearHouse is busier than ever –
making sure all students have Husky clothing to wear!
This year we are lucky to have a wonderful group of students working in the
WearHouse. Check back each week to learn a little bit about each student.
WHAT IS THE HUSKY WEARHOUSE? The Husky WearHouse provides all students the opportunity to wear North High
School apparel because when students feel included and connected to school, they
are more likely to participate in the school community and achieve success.
The HUSKY
WEARHOUSE is
located by the auditorium directly
inside the main entrance of the
school.
GRIFFIN BELL, North Senior, is our
team leader. This is his second year
of volunteering in the WearHouse.
Griffin is also a member of student
council, the North Hockey team and
Track. Make sure to cheer on #14 on
the ice this season!

SENIOR PORTRAIT SUBMISSION
The North High School Yearbook staff would like to remind
parents and students of the Class of 2020 that senior pictures
should be taken during the summer months. Since senior
portraits are traditionally printed in color, the deadline for
submission to be included in the yearbook will be Friday,
January 3 -- FIRM. Don’t be disappointed; schedule an
appointment with the photographer of your choice soon.
Only digital photos are accepted for use in the yearbook. We
also suggest that a more traditional pose (head and
shoulders) works best in the yearbook. If you request it, most
photographers in the area will submit a camera-ready, digital
photograph to the school directly as a service to you. Please
request they send the (minimum) wallet-sized file as a jpeg
with a minimum of 300 dpi resolution to [email protected].
All you need to do is select your pose and place the order.
SENIORS – MAKE APPOINTMENTS
Seniors, please make an appointment first quarter to see your
counselor for your senior meeting. Counselors will meet with
every senior to discuss credits, graduation requirements, as
well as post-secondary planning. Stop by Student Services
and set up an appointment with your counselor through Ms.
Forrestal beginning Monday, September 16th.
COLLEGE VISITS Friday, September 20

CLASS OF 2020 GROUP PHOTO The original senior group photo date was canceled. A new

in the Blue Box in the main office.
ALL NIGHT PARTY We are still looking for a chairperson for this year’s All Night
Party at Action City. Please email Janelle Patenaude if you are
interested. We also need many more parent volunteers to
make this important event a success for your students. Please
reach to Janelle if you are interested in helping out!
