Welcome New IIDA Houston City Center President

Summer has come and gone in a flash, which means a new IIDA year is upon us -- and we’ve hit the ground running!

In July, the 2013-2014 Chapter Board members were graciously hosted in Dallas for a 4-day orientation retreat. Shortly thereafter, Chapter held two fabulous events in Dallas: METROCON12 and the Chapter Awards Gala, which celebrated design excellence and outstanding volunteerism. This year, Houston City Center was the lucky recipient of the coveted City Center of the Year Award!

This is a great wrap up to a successful 2012-2013 year, and we in Houston are anxious to get started on an action-packed 2013-2014. The new City Center Council has gathered and already begun planning an exciting year of events focused on bringing knowledge, value and inspiration to our members. Our theme for this year is growth, and we look forward to working with our members and partners to grow our events in size & in value as we strive to elevate the Interior Design profession to the level it warrants, and to lead the way for the next generation of Interior Design innovators.

We will be kicking off the year with our annual Membership Social and two opportunities to attend the Industry Roundtable, all on September 19th. Also, don’t forget that October’s Art & Artifacts is quickly approaching! I know it will seem like a whirlwind in the end, but I’m looking forward to another great year for IIDA in Houston as we continue the momentum set forth the last few years. We are lucky to have some of the best volunteers, underwriters and Chapter Partners in our City Center, all of whom offer amazing support, allowing us to grow and improve year after year. I’m dedicated to make this year another successful one and can’t wait for what’s to come!

Be sure to be on the lookout for emails regarding upcoming events and don’t forget to check out our Facebook page for all the latest and greatest.

All the best,

Joanna Prazak, IIDA, RID, LEED AP ID+C 2013-2014 IIDA Houston City Center Director CRG: Contract Resource Group
