Tell us about Reconciliation and Restora-tion Christian Ministries (RRCM). After experiencing a wonderful, blessed rela-tionship with God and His people through ministry, there came a time due to the cares of the world, and a sense of feeling completely overwhelmed that I stepped out of the things of God at my local church. As time went by I felt disconnected from God, and my purpose. Consequently, because of my work schedule that I allowed to creep into my life, I had all but lost my prayer and study life. I was really feeling low. However, In April of 2004 my husband and I were in the car giving God praise for His undying love and faithfulness. It was then that I heard God say, “this is the message [the message of reconciliation and restoration], that I want you to share with those who have lost their way, and with those who have yet to accept Me as Lord and Sav-ior. God then impressed upon my heart to call the ministry Reconciliation and Restoration Ministries. The word, “Christian” was added later. Consequently, God is into restoring our natu-ral lives, as well as our spiritual lives. He is capable of restoring all that we need in life. RRCM wants to become the voice crying in the wilderness, compelling men and women to come to Jesus. RRCM wants to publish this message in as many mediums as we can in order to reach as far and wide as we can. RRCM’s mandate is to tell the people that through Jesus Christ, God is reconciling Man back to Himself because of His original plan to have a daily, personal rela-tionship with His most prized creation, Man-kind.

RRCM’s Vision is to carry out the mandate that God has given the ministry to share with fellow Christians, who have lost their way and with those who have yet to accept Him as Lord and Savior. RRCM’s Mission is to inform and educate people about God and His desire to reconcile Man back to Himself. Thus, restoring the rela-tionship that was lost in the beginning, in the Garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve sinned.

What does God want you to accomplish through RRCM? RRCM is to be a bible centered, multi-media training ministry that will publish biblical cen-tered literature, journals and newsletters to inform and educate the people concerning God’s desire for a personal relationship with them. RRCM is also to be a central place where people can learn to live a godly life, according to God’s Word. Thereby be-coming disciples of Jesus Christ, duplicating the process of discipleship over again and again. RRCM is to be a ministry that will be a platform for many schools for the betterment of all, especially girls and women from ages 2 through 82.

What does God want to accomplish through Minister Karen Stanton? God wants to perfect my leadership and min-isterial skills through the service of others. He wants me to hone my business and training skills because the Vision is much larger than my current skill-set.

Minister Stanton, you have a sensitivity and heart for overweight people, tell us about it. Because of the love and compassion God has given me for the people, I possess a sensitivity for anyone that is hurting, especially those who are grossly overweight. These individuals hold a special place in my heart because I know and understand their struggle and plight.

Minister Stanton, do you struggle with your weight? I don't know if I would call it a “struggle”. For years, my weight didn't bother me. I dressed up and I looked good. However, I started feeling a lot of pain and discomfort in my body. Continue on page 2

Thus, I decided quite recently as a matter of fact to seriously do something about my weight. Consequently, it’s been full speed ahead from here, no turning back. God has given me a ministry for people who are strug-gling with their weight. In your opinion, is weight linked to a person's emotions? I believe that there is a spirit of addiction. This ungodly spirit shows up in all kinds of ways, through the addiction of drugs, gambling, sex, and yes through food. For some, a food addic-tion is triggered by emotions, especially when you are lonely, upset, or going through a hard or dark time. Eating and/or over eating has a calming effect. Food can become your friend, your company, if you will. I certainly wasn't aware of this when I was busy packing on the pounds. What does RRCM have in place to assist people with weight issues? First, I want to make it clear that God has not given me a magic wand, for an instant, wake up 20 pounds lighter weight loss program. That is not God’s way. God works with an individuals as they are, and where they are. However, God does holds you accountable for what you do, in and to His temple (your body). Conse-quently, God holds you accountable for how you are eating, and how you are exercising His body…you do not belong to yourself, honor God with your body (I Corinthians 6:19-20. You are to present your body as a living sacri-fice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service (Romans 12:1). This simply means that you are to worship God with every part of your being, including your body. A living sacrifice means seeking God's will in all things, in every area to include how and what you eat. Thus, give God full and free course in your life. Yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to guide you in the way you should go. You are to use your body as an instrument to the glory of God, this includes what you eat. Thus, RRCM will build support groups that will have information regarding other areas of help, as it relates to weight management. As time goes on we will host conferences, training classes, workshops, and experts in the areas that can come along side to assist in achieving the ministry’s weight loss goals.

Additionally, I want the readers to know that RRCM will provide the most important dimen-sion to weight issues, and that is understand-ing. Understanding, concerning where you are, and the fear concerning stepping out and doing something about your weight. Consequently, RRCM will provide a dedicated prayer line, and spiritual counseling to include the Wisdom of God shared with the ministry, that will be shared with others. What are the unique issues that are af-filiated with being overweight? Just to name a few that I am personally aware of is the lack of mobility, which causes the body to be more prone to illness and stress and strain to the body. Additionally, over-weight people may experience issues with self-esteem and a lack of confidence. Tell our readers the story behind God's word "Come to me about the problem and I will show you how to get it done." I was praying with some sisters, all of which were overweight at the time, including myself. I had a vision - I saw all of us much smaller than we presently were. Then, I heard the voice of God say, “Come to me about the problem and I will show you how to get it done.” It was then that we all shouted and praised God for the word and the vision. However, that was pretty much it. Thus, after the shouting and praising God was over, no works followed. Although it was something we really wanted and needed, no one was at the place to make the decision to follow. Consequently, this is critical. Because until you are sick and tired, of being sick and tired you will do nothing. Jesus, Amen….now that is a word from heaven. Life is about perspective. Tell us about it. God spoke a word to me many years ago, as I was waiting for Him to bring about change in my life. Thus, God said, “If you want change, you must first change." What did that mean at that time? God’s mes-sage to me meant that I needed a mind change a new perspective (a renewed mind) on the issues that I had before Him.

Minister Stanton, how did the new per-spective occur? Through much prayer and meditation in the presence of the Lord. I could not have accom-plished a new perspective on my own. There-fore, prayer and meditation will prove to be very important parts of a weight loss success story. Thus, so it will be with your weight loss accomplishment. For those who decide it's time for a change, there is hope. But, you need not do it by yourself. Through Jesus Christ, you can become the proper weight. Minister Stanton is big beautiful? Yesss! I believe that no matter how big you are - you can be beautiful, if you believe that you are beautiful. You must believe in your own beauty. Real, lasting beauty is found from the inside out. How can the readers contact the RRCM regarding a weight loss program. Please contact RRCM at 240.544.8299 (serious inquires only). Thank you so much for your time. Minis-ter Stanton what is your hidden strength?

It is a truth that God never leaves nor forsakes me. I am never alone. God is always with me. When God should leave me, He does not. God stays with me. I am who I am, because God is there to help me get it done...Amen.

to me, the world can’t take it away.

By Ms. Peggy Manley

When you have joy, the devil will throw everything he has against you. However, you just keep on pushing. Not because you are that strong, but because God is bigger than anything that life can do to you. Each day from God is a gift. Our time on this earth is short (three score and ten, by measure of strength eighty years). Thus, God wants us to live each day to the full-est. Jesus came so that we could have a more abundant life. John 10:10: "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." The enemy comes to kill your Joy, so much so that you don’t remember the last time you were legitimately happy. satan wants to kill your Joy so that when something good happens to you, you will tell yourself that it’s too good to be true! satan wants to kill your Joy by binding you to a dark place, in which you don’t even recognize the sound of your own authentic laughter. satan wants to kill your Joy to such an extreme that on some days you just want to drive right pass your own home. satan wants to kill your Joy to the extent that when you are angry, and someone asks what’s wrong, you say to them, “nothing”. Because you don’t know what you are upset about….a sign that your joy has been stolen, or given away.

“Lord when you open the door for me, don’t let it just bless me. Let the door be so BIG, that persons reading this [newsletter] will walk into their season with-out a struggle.” http://youtu.be/hNNu0oqjndQ

satan tries to kill your Joy with the small-est, insignificant things that will get on your nerves. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. BUT, God gave you a Joy that the world can’t take away. Consequently, you can go through life daily, knowing that there will be good days. However, every now and then, you will face struggles. Therefore, NO matter what, hold on to the Joy of the Lord, knowing that Jesus Christ is your strength; your Rock in a weary land. Know that if the joy that you have, came from Jesus Christ, the would can’t take it away!

Nobody but Jesus! The thing that God has provided during the hard times of life is JOY!!!! After everything that you been through – Woke up this morning with my mind stayed on Jesus…Still got my JOY!!! Weeping may endure for the night but JOY cometh in the morn-ing.

Good morning Joy! Psalm 30:5 - For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

What is Joy? Webster’s Dictionary states that Joy is the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune, or by the prospect of pos-sessing what one desires. Joy is a strong feeling of happiness; a manifestation of happiness through an outward rejoicing or excitement. That said, as a Believer your joy should not come from a new car, more money, a new house, a new job, or another person. But, your joy should come from

“Heavenly Father, I would like to thank You for loving me. Thank You for hear-ing my cries, when I didn’t know what to do when I was feeling overwhelmed. Thank You Lord for always sending peo-ple my way when I was sad, and I needed someone to talk to, or I needed some-one to give me a hug. Thank You for allowing me to keep my sanity, when others wanted me to think that I was wrong, even though I was right. Thank You Lord for waking me up each morning. There were days when I thought about going this place, or that place, but Lord with Your help I managed to arrive, where I needed to be safely. You guided me home safely also. Lord, You protected my child when I couldn’t see him, or did not hear from him.

Thank You Lord for allowing me to pay my bills. Thank You for taking care of my mother. Dear God, thank You for provid-ing me with a loving brother. You know that I miss him every day. But, You know what is best for all of us. Lord, my late brother gave me some won-derful memories…. Thank You. God, I still have my two brothers and my one sister. I thank You for the opportunity for all of my siblings, and my mother to meet last year. Lord, you know that was my late brother’s wish and you granted it. Lord, he was so happy to see our sister. Heavenly Father, please help my siblings to show love for one another, and not fight over anything. Lord, we need to enjoy each other’s com-pany because life can be short sometimes.

knowing that your name is written in heaven (Luke 10:20).

What brings Joy? When I think of the goodness of Jesus and all that He’s done for me, and how He saved my soul from a burning Hell - that’s when I feel joy. When you have the Joy of Jesus you will go from doubt to trust - complaining to confidence – valley to mountain and trusting in Man, to trusting in God. The joy of the Lord is your strength! God loves you no matter what you’ve done, where you’ve been, or where you come from. God loves you whether you’re rich or poor. God loves you whether you’re at-tractive or not. God’s love will fill your heart in such a way that you will love Him with all of your heart. Consequently, with the love of God you will begin to love those around you, while experiencing a glorious and inexpressible joy! This joy that I have the world didn't give it to me, and the world can't take it away. That said the joy of the Lord is my strength. And, I know that you will also experience joy, a real and wonderful joy as you allow God to fill you with His amazing love.

I pray that a blessing is received by the readers.....here it goes. Hi Hidden Strengths readers! I hope that this summer went well for all, and that somewhere the word VACATION was included. The topic for this quarter is: ‘This Joy that I have the world didn't give it, and the world can't take it away.’ Let's look at the phase ‘This Joy That I Have’, (letter by letter): The one thing that I have tried to remem-ber about joy is that it has to be a personal and spiritual response to a situation, in spite of the situation. It may be a happy or sad occasion, which may cause conflict with in us.

Consequently, Joy results when you can still praise and worship the Lord regardless of the occasion. For most people a sad occasion usually leaves individuals yearning, or looking for an ex-planation as to why the negative event happened. The example I will use is a personal one. The diagnosis that four of my older sisters had developed breast cancer was a lot to deal with. I wanted to know how was it, that being the youngest I had avoided the disease. Then, the Lord in His divine wisdom, assured me that we are only here for a season, and that my two sis-ters which had gone on to be with Him, had already completed their seasons. My parents taught our family to stand on the Word of God and to believe in the promises of Jesus Christ, so that when adversity came into our lives, we trusted what Jesus said in John 5:24, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condem-

nation; but is passed from death unto life.” Know-ing that even with what I called bad news in the passing of loved ones, God promised to bring joy to my life that no one or no thing could ever destroy. For, Romans 8:38-39 reminds me, that “… I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Remember…after all that you have been through You Are H.E.A.L.E.D.

Washington, D.C.

My Joy is the Joy the Lord!

I heard a song one day and instantly liked it. The lyrics: Jesus, you’re the center of my joy All that’s good and perfect comes from you You’re the heart of my contentment Hope for all I do Jesus, you’re the center of my joy Even though I liked the song, I was not singing truth to myself. Jesus was a little off-centered at that time in my life. Consequently, I recognized that I wanted to be able to sing this song whole-heartedly. Because I was born with an Adamic Nature I was predestined to sin. Consequently, sin felt good. When I was in the midst of doing wrong, I was happy during the act. I wanted to please myself. My flesh ran me. Eventually, I had to reap what I had sowed. Thus, there are consequences to our actions. It sometimes takes for us to hit rock bottom before we look up to God for help and deliverance. Thank you Lord for letting me hit “The Rock”. I could have been consumed in sinking sand. However, even when I did not know God, God did not let me drown.

Mama Minister Says… I had an emptiness that could not be filled by any person I knew. I was overwhelmed and burdened. I did not feel that I had anything to smile about. If I did smile, it was just a covering for the drama that was my life. My happiness was temporary. Things seemed better, but only for a little while. Finally, I had to try something different. I tried God, through Jesus Christ! I realized that I did not have the power to fix anything in my life. I was exhausted. In God, joy is eternal (Luke 15:7). God created joy. It is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). Joy works with God’s love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Your char-acter is built up in God. JOY IS IN YOU! You may have trouble accessing it sometimes, but take small steps in faith and build from there. Consequently, when tragedy does strike and knocks you down, do not stay down (James 1:2-4). Do not allow your senses to cloud your faith (Hebrews 11:1). Do not allow your present situation or cir-cumstance to take away your joy. You can be blessed twelve times daily, however, only remember the one bad occurrence, and fall-out, becoming depressed because of it. God commands you to rejoice in Him always (Philippians 4:4).

Being a Christian, is more difficult than not serving God, because satan will work hard to get you to curse God and die. Thus, the loss of your joy and a weakened relationship with Jesus Christ. Conse-quently, obedience to the FATHER by keeping His commandments is the key to my joy. However, I still mess up. But, I am looking a little more like Jesus the longer I live. Subsequently, the longer you live find joy in reading the Word of God- your bible and let the Holy Spirit lead you. And, as you look back over your life, you should be able to find joy somewhere in something. However, I hope that you do not make that “something” your god by giving it your undivided time, attention and devotion. Remember that people will fail you, but Jesus Christ never does. If you only see negativity and hopeless-ness, I pray that you try Jesus and discover a joyous song that you can sing whole-heartedly. God bless and say “No” to stress.

Keep yourself joyous by reminding yourself that God is rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

What is Man’s Adamic Nature? Man’s Adamic Nature is Man’s propensity (nature) to sin. Man’s propensity or nature to sin was caused by the Fall of Man (Adam) in the Garden of Eden. God commanded Adam (Genesis 2:15-17) not to eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. However, Adam knowing God’s commandment, disobeyed God (Gen 3:6). Thus, as a consequence or payment for that disobedience--sin, every human being born after Adam is born with the Original Sin...the propensity or nature to disobey and rebel against God. Consequently the wages of Man’s sin...the propensity or nature to disobey or rebel against God, is death, however, the remedy for this disobedience is Christ Jesus (Romans 6:23). That said in one man, Adam, we were born in sin. In another man, Jesus Christ, we are born again by grace. (Romans 5:14-17). Consequently, for the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age (Titus 2:11-12 NKJV).

The space that was originally designed to contain happiness and everlasting joy is now occupied with doubt, guilt, shame, and other people’s issues. When was the last time you smiled? Laughed? Cried tears of joy, instead of sorrow? We were once full of life, ready to take over the world. However, we allowed life to invade our hearts and minds and snatch every ounce of joy we once con-tained. Truth be told, some of us gave it away. We intentionally entertained joy robbers for our own personal gain, not knowing that these “joy robbers” would cost us more than what we bargained for….Jesus. That said all is not lost. There is an opportunity NOW to recover all that was lost, stolen or just given away! Consequently, the decision lies in our minds. If we CHOOSE to consistently go to the original source—Jesus Christ and seek Him and His ways, those things that we desire; happiness, joy, and laughter will never depart from us.

Kick the clutter to the curb

Amazing how the thought of change in a calendar season can shift things in your spirit. Packing up sea-sonal clothing, changing furniture and simply desiring a NEWNESS in life, makes one ask the questions…What happened? How did all this STUFF get here? How did my life become so CLUTTERED with so much stuff?! 9 times out of 10, it’s not even our own stuff. Some-how, somewhere our lives become CONGESTED with things that bring no earthly good, and it’s not even our own! These things, situations, people and circumstances build and cause blockage from the things we actually desire. We become so used to life’s issues that we begin to accommodate and make it part of our lives. Thus, limiting ourselves to what God’s original plan was for our lives.

Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So, you must honor God with your body (NLT - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). As we read this portion of the Word of God we should not take lightly all that God had to do to get us to a place where this statement is true for those of us who have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. God the creator of everything including Man, made us and gave us free will. He did not make us as ro-bots that had to do only what they were told. God gave us the ability to make up our own minds. Though God did not make us robots, He did give us instructions that if followed would afford us the best of what He had prepared for us. Well, we all know how that worked out. Man didn't take long to stray from God's instruc-tions. Thus, the Fall of Man occurred and conse-quences followed. The Fall of Man not only caused God who is just to exact penalties for Man's disobe-dience, but it also caused a spiritual rift between God and His creation. It was God's original plan to have Man to fellowship with. However, because of disobe-dience Man no longer could enjoy a personal rela-tionship with God, that they once had enjoyed. Though man sinned, God still loved him. Man's sin debt had to be dealt with in order for man to be free to come back into proper fellowship with God. Therefore, God implemented a plan to give Man an opportunity to come back into proper relationship with Him. However, This plan was not a quick fix and

took many years to come to fruition. When the fullness of time came, God sent His only begotten Son as a propitiation, an atoning sacrifice, to cover Man's sin debt. Consequently, Christ's death on the Cross paid Man's sin debt in full, allow-ing mankind to escape the penalty of spiritual death. Therefore, granting mankind the opportunity to receive eternal life. Thus, God through His infinite wisdom and love had set the stage for mankind to receive the blessing of eternal fellowship with Him once more. Consequently, at this point the ball is in Man's court. Thus, you still have the ability to make a choice to spend eternity in fellowship with the God of the universe, the God that made heaven and earth, and the God that loves you uncondition-ally. Or, do you want to die in your sin state and go to hell? The choice is and always has been a personal one. So when you come to the realization that you are in a sinful state and need a savior, do as Romans 10: 9-10 instructs; confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved. For it is by believing with your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. Once you have made the decision to follow these instructions and have received Christ as your Lord and Savior, it is imperative that you understand that your body is no longer your own. Consequently, God has sent His Spirit to live in you. It is true that Christ's death freed us from sin. But, His death also

obligates us to serve Him. Our bodies are now the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit of God. Think of it like this, if you lived in a building owned by someone else, you would be bound to the lease agreement, rules and regulations set forth in the document, correct? As a result, you would do your best to not violate the terms of the agreement, correct? #now that will preach. Well the same is true about your body. Now that your body is the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit, you must not violate God’s standards for living. You must honor God with your body. After all, Jesus gave His body for you, and now you are to give your body to Him, for His good pleasure. To do this, you are to now consider yourself like Jesus...meaning to be dead to sin. Jesus died to sin and the life He lives, He lives to the glory of God. You are to live likewise, and not allow sin to control the way you give into sinful desires [of the heart and flesh]. You are not to allow any part of your body to be instruments of evil to serve sin. Instead you are to give yourself completely over to God. Thus, using your body as an instrument to do what is right, to the glory of God. Though accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord, sin no longer has rule over you. For you no longer live under of the Law [which could not be fulfilled]. You now live under the freedom of God's grace.

The Joy that does not fade away

For the average child, young person, or adult an experience at an amusement park is full of joy and excitement. We enter into the gates with anticipation of how much fun we are going to have. We pick our rides, being particularly selective, while deciding where we are going to begin. We go to the booths and purchase our tickets. We stand in long lines for a ride that we think will bring us joy. As a result, at the conclusion of the ride we think that the fun of the ride will be all the joy that we need. What is ironic, however, is that when the fun of the ride is completed, the feelings of joy is over as well. Consequently, the moment is very fleeting and it’s gone. If everyone were honest, most often, after a small amount of time, we quickly forget about the experience or feelings of joy. We really forget about it. The joy simply fades away.

So, this proves that the joy that we’re seeking, and needing to satisfy us does not come from the world. It’s not fleet-ing, or a short lived worldly experience. But, it is a sense of fulfillment that is within our spirit, which never leaves. It is the Joy from gratitude. It is a joy that says that we know that we are not in this struggle alone. It is joy that reminds us of where we have come from, and the tomorrows that God will turn around. This joy does not require tickets which have to be purchased, nor involves standing in long lines for admission. Thus, as Saints of God we must stay connected and fo-cused on the spirit of gratitude. The spirit of gratitude will draw the Joy that no one can take from us. Gratitude reminds us of where God has brought us from, and brought us through. And the Joy, my God, the Joy is ever present as we give God all the glory. For He has done and continues to do mighty things in our lives.

Always remember that though we weep at night, Joy will come in the morning. The Grace of God promises that all things will work together for our good (Rom 8:28). There is Joy in knowing that God’s plan is greater than the plans we have for ourselves. God reminds us that, “I know the thoughts I think toward you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11). As a result, don’t hold on to temporal joy that comes from what the world may offer in the form of amusement park rides or funhouses. But, instead hold on to the Joy that comes from knowing the presence of God and the promises of God for your life.

Gratitude is what gratitude does. When gratitude is blessed, gratitude blesses others. Mature the receiving, into giving and sowing into others. Thus, when you have been blessed pass your blessings on.

A Word to the Preachers Rev. Dr. H. Joseph Franklin Sr. now retired, served as the Pastor of the Sec-ond Baptist Church Southwest, Forest-ville, MD from May 3, 1974 to Decem-ber 1, 2008. Previously he was the Pas-tor of the Washington Street Missionary Baptist Church, in Paducah, Kentucky for fourteen years. In addition, Rev. Franklin, Sr. was a mem-ber of the Board of Trustees of the Mis-sionary Baptist Convention of D.C. and Vicinity, a member of the Southwest Ministers' Alliance, a trustee of the Nan-nie Helen Burroughs Scholarship Fund, Inc., and a previous Board Member of the Nannie Helen Burroughs School, Inc. Rev Franklin, Sr. is also a chartered mem-ber of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc. (1961), and a former trustee of the Washington Baptist Semi-nary. Thus, Rev. Dr. Franklin, Sr. has the qualifications to provide guidance to licensed, ministers-in-training and or-dained preachers alike.

Rev. Franklin, what words of advise or guidance can you provide to today’s preacher? I would tell today’s preacher to be faith-ful over the work that God has Called and Anointed you to do. The Anointing will give you power. You cannot effec-tively perform the work that God has laid to your hands without the Anointing or the help/teaching of the Holy Ghost (John 14:26). Preachers are to read God’s Word con-tinually and listen to what the Spirit of God has to say. Also, preachers are to give themselves wholly/holy to Jesus, while holding unto God’s unchanging hand. And don’t forget to get on your knees and ask God to help you. Conse-quently, be assured that when and not if you walk through the fire, and your clothes are smelling of the smoke, you will not be burnt….Jesus.

Also, preachers are to be faithful and ready to study their Bible in order to show themselves approved to God (II Timothy 2:15). Preachers must live a Christian life that allows their light to shine before men, so that they (those looking) will see the preacher’s good works and glorify God (Matthew 5:16). Additionally, preachers always are to remember that God is faithful. God will supply all of your needs according to His riches in Glory (Philippians 4:19). Lastly, preachers are not only to act like Christians but be a Christian...everyday. He or she must be Christ-like, so that God will not be made ashamed. “And if a preacher does not know what it means to be a Christian then they should not be preaching!”.

Living with a mental disorder has

been a deep struggle over the years

since my diagnoses. There have been

moments when I have been up, and

plenty of moments of being down.

When I used to have moments of

going through mental episodes, it was

then that I learned to confide in Jesus.

There were times when I wanted peo-

ple around to comfort me, to help me

get through it, but that wasn’t always

the case. Yes, I had family who would

visit me during my hospitalizations,

and that was always comforting to me.

But once they left, who did I have?

That’s when I began to find my com-

fort in the Lord. I had to come to an

understanding that people shouldn’t

be the main steam of my happiness in

my darkest times. I needed to find

peace, joy and happiness from the true

higher being--Christ.

When I had no one to talk to, Jesus

Christ was always my listener. During

my episodes, I always found myself

talking to Jesus. Consequently every

time I did, complete joy would over-

take me, even in my horror. Conse-

quently, in my most devastating men-

tal episodes, I would always speak of

Him with excitement.

Jesus presence always seemed to be

most prevalent during these times.

Beneath all the terror was a hidden

joy….my hidden strength. The Joy

just knowing that Jesus Christ is lord

Even in my present time, I find joy in

knowing that our Lord is a healer.

Doctor’s may be able to treat my

mental condition, but it is the Lord,

Who can heal me. As a result, that

alone is something to celebrate! A

condition….a mental disorder that

Man has said that I would live with

for the rest of my life, but my Lord

and Savior Jesus Christ says other-

wise….

For Jesus Christ was wounded for my

transgressions, Jesus Christ was

bruised for my iniquities; The chas-

tisement for my peace was upon Him,

And by the strips of Jesus Christ of

Nazareth I am healed! (Isaiah 53:5

referenced).

Knowing that Jesus is Lord, can over-

ride any thing that Man may speak

over my life brings a sense of joy. I

have the faith that there will be a time

when I will not have to rely on medi-

cation for a proper mental function. I

Merriam-Webster defines a distraction as a thing that prevents someone from giving

full attention to something else; extreme agitation of the mind or emotions.

“Lord, we ask in the mighty name of Jesus that You would help us to keep our minds stayed on You. Help us to focus

on Your Word when the enemy sends distractions against our joy. Teach us to shut out the distractions that come to

snatch away the joy and peace that you’ve given us. Help us to not be distracted by the enemy’s attacks or who the

attacks come through. Help us to stand on Your Word, no matter what the situation looks like. Lord, Psalms 56:3 says,

“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.” Help us to trust You Lord, help us to remain steadfast and faithful while

You are working things out for us, our families, and for loved ones. Help us to not become distracted by the blatant

lies or whispers of the enemy. Lord, give us the strength needed to trust You, to seek Your face, and listen for Your

still small voice above the noise of the world and its demands.

Lord, we bind the enemy from distracting Your people with the cares of this life, petty arguments, jealousy, reality TV,

illicit relationships, stressful jobs, shopping, food, social networks, ipads, iphones, the internet and anything that would

come between us and our relationship with You. Lord, we bind the enemy from stealing our joy and peace. We bind

“fatal distractions” in the name of Jesus. Lord, grant us a “Divine Alertness” as we continue to stand, watch and pray.

Lord, help us to be determined to remain steadfast and unmovable as we declare and decree Your Word. Lord, thank

you for reminding us that Isaiah 54:17, says “NO weapon formed against us shall prosper…”. Help us to also remem-

ber, that if we as the Body of Christ, weren’t such a threat to the enemy, satan wouldn’t send the distractions in the first

place. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Colin A. Dew: Echoes of a Man All mine, you should get your own

It's often hard to simply "be happy" be-cause life presents us with numerous problems, obstacles, issues. I’ve heard that it is easier to just give up, than to see something through to the end. Conse-quently, we come up against obstacles regarding our finances, home, school and work. We juggle decisions of what to do next. In all of these things do we ever take a minute to breath, look around, and appre-ciate all that we do have (Philippians 4:11)? I myself have had some down days lately, questioning my life and what steps to take. But, let me tell you my secret. I've realized that although the battles may rise, there is Someone interceding on our behalf. So, though we experience down days, it's a blessing to know that God has better in mind for us. This gives me exceeding great joy and that's something that can’t be taken away. If we base our positive gains on things someone has done for us, we lose sight of reality. Sure people may have lent you money. But, in reality God provided them a way to be a blessing to someone else. When I awake in the morning it's not because of my alarm clock, the kids, or my wife’s nudge. I was awakened because the Lord God saw fit to wake me up and start me on my way. Consequently, this life is not about our peers or family mem-bers. Even when we have done something amazing, it's not one hundred percent about something we have done.

This world is not looking out for us. This world is not truly worried about our happiness or well being. This world can-not provide the joy and peace that is provided beyond all understanding in the same manner that only Jesus Christ can provide. Our God, Jehovah, the great I Am, is our provider, redeemer, and our Rock in a weary land. Through His Son Jesus Christ, we have been provided a Way, the Truth and a Light, that leads to an unexplainable joy, which passes all understanding. Con-sequently, Jesus is the very reason why we awake every day. The One who breathed the breath of life into us will provide us with what the world cannot. And it will continue to be something that the World can't take away. My hope is that my readers will take a step back from the stress of life, and look at what God has already done and will continue to provide in their lives. Find your joy in your personal relation-ship with Jesus Christ, and not the world. The world WON'T give you joy, so the world and they that dwell in it does not have the ability to take your joy away. Consequently, look to God and hold on to His unchanging hand, while living a righteous and joyous life...the right way. Be blessed all...until we read again.

But, it's because of the abilities, Gifts and knowledge that the Lord has given us. Sampson's strength didn't come from his hair. His strength came from God. David didn't just knock Goliath down, God put the will and strength in David. Moses didn't just part the Red Sea, God granted him the ability. God provides. The bible tells us in Nehe-miah 8:10, "Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drink, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.". Conse-quently, none in this world can provide like God. I can remember growing up and the family struggles here and there. But, there was always a sense of Joy even in the midst of our tribulation. As a result, we were still able to smile and go on, because we realized that our true happi-ness and provisions came from acknowl-edging and believing in the power, and love of the only true and living God. It often amazes me how good I feel when I read the Word of God. Throughout the bible there are many joyous occasions. God has given His Book of divine instruc-tion. He has also provided us with our connection to continuous and abundant joy….His Joy, through Jesus Christ. If we apply God’s divine instructions there will be no point where we loose our joy. There will be no point where we would have to look to other means to experi-ence the joy of the Lord.

Living a sacrificial life unto God means there will be things we won't be able to do that we may have done in our pasts. It also means our appetite must come un-der subjection to God, through the Holy Spirit. ... meaning our natural appetites, as well as our spiritual appetites. Thus, smoking, drinking, overeating, etc., should stop. Consequently, we need to spend time with God on a daily basis, through the study of His Word, prayer and medita-tion and fasting when led of the Holy Spirit. This is so that we can grow in our knowledge and understanding of who God is and what it is He wants us to accomplish in His name. Therefore, curtailing and putting a stop to the things that do not honor the pres-ence of God living inside of us, is a form of presenting our bodies as a living sacri-fice. This could include stopping or start-ing some activities. Thus, our goal here is to please and honor God with our living,

and our actions. As a result, we are to live holy lives. That said, a life that is holy is a life that is set apart for the Lord's use. Again, our bodies are not our own, a holy life is a life that is no longer a life unto ourselves. With everything we do, we need to take into consideration that our lives are no longer our own. But, they are set a part for the glory of God. This means as we allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us in the way that we need to go, will bring the greatest honor to God with our lives. Our bodies and our lives are not our own. As a result, it is very important that we be mindful that our bodies are lead mostly by our thoughts. Consequently, it has been said, that we become what we think (for the most part). This is why it is so important to remember that our minds need to be renewed daily through the Word of God.

So, therefore, if you fill your heart with worldly things, your mind will reap worldly thoughts and will be weakened against the attacks of the enemy. How-ever, a mind that receives a regular diet of God's truths will produce a life that can stand the test of time and the assaults of the devil. In closing, the Spirit of the Lord lives inside of us, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty. Thus, the Spirit of the Lord gives us freedom from sin, death and the condemnation of the Law. As a result, this freedom gives us the confidence to be bold and not fearful. Therefore, we are to use our bodies as instruments for the glory of God and place our appetites under submission to God.

Critical Thinking The Affirmation of our Indifference:

Exploited or Exposed

I understand; I accept and expect as well, that the title of this submission will per-haps be received by some as troublesome. Consequently, this is an interesting sum-mation on hopelessness and an attempt to articulate through the written word proof that we no longer care for one another. When juxtapose the marches of the 1960’s civil rights movement. When the social revolution against inequity was born through an evolution for justice; evolving out of Divine Providence. To the more recent backdrop of protests and marches over an unpopular and social and racial regressive court rendering on Florida’s Stand Your Ground Law. As a result, there were many prayer vigils that came to life after the heart wrenching tragedy and devastating setback of the Trayvon Martin case [and now the Michael Brown shooting.] Thus, this indifference would appear at first blush as an interpre-tation of a great contradiction, or at best, a little out of step with the times. Often times, it is our caring (or non-caring) and the way in which it is carried out, that is a dead give-a-way to our train-ing, in caring for others. Consequently, no matter how well intended it will likely take the wrongful form of “helping”. As in helping only (this) in direct opposition to (that).

However, the affirmation of our indiffer-ence, whether exploited or exposed is not being lifted to the light of critical truth out of a contentious spirit, nor as a condemna-tion that we no longer care for one an-other. But, rather to call to attention the fact that we no longer know “how” to care for one another in a way that sustains the whole. Consider the story in Luke 10:30-35 where we find “…A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise, a Levite when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.” Conse-quently, the priest and Levite, who past the thief by represents a tragedy within the Family of God. Each represents a failed relationship and a sort of [double mindedness] and religious piety (flesh) that attempts to project the Will of God. However, when given the opportunity to demonstrate the love of God, showed an ungodly basis to an in-jured person who was left for dead on the side of the road.

The priest and Levite were paralyzed, un-able [or unwilling] to lift a finger to provide assistance. Their paralysis asked more about how this man’s misfortune [would be an inconvenience], or reflection on them if they had stopped to provide help, mercy and sympathy. In much the same there are far too many of us -- God's people who have become well adjusted to the injustices in our cities, neighborhoods and towns. Even when it’s directly on our own sidewalks. In a sin-sick and dying world, let us--the people of God not be addicted to this world. But, instead be its medicine. Natural medicines may never be the cure, nor do I believe that they were intended to be so. However, it does suggest that the condition (not caring for one another) is curable, tolerable, sufferable and able to be maintained in the short term, until the body’s own defenses become strong enough to fend for its self.

At the age of 22, Pastor Emeritus Rev. Dr. H. Joseph Franklin, Sr. received confirmation from God that he was Called to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ: During January 1951, I was a 22 year old preacher, who received a letter to report (sent) to the Fort Lee Army Base in Petersburg, VA. One month later I arrived on the base and was informed that my Company, the Reclamation and Maintenance Company would be departing for a ship to Seoul, Korea. I still remember standing in formation with an all segregated unit. I was dressed in combat gear, ready for war. However, I knew that God had Called me to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Consequently, while in military formation I began to pray “Oh Lord, I believe within my soul that You have Called and Anointed me to preach Your Word.

However, I am scheduled to leave for Korea, today at noon. Lord if I am right about my Calling, please remove me so that I will not be sent to Korea.” Suddenly, while still in prayer a man riding a motorcycle began to appear. He stopped near the formation of men that I was standing with, and spoke to the Officer in charge. The Officer called my name. I stepped forward. I was told to leave immediately and get dressed (actual photo shown) in order to report to Chapel Number One. Once I ar-rived to the Chapel, I was told that I was to assist the Chaplain in charge with various church related duties. Several weeks later the base received notification that many of the men from my Com-pany were killed in Korea during battle. This incident confirmed for me that God indeed had Called and Anointed me to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Strong Things Aren't So Easily Moved

It is with much effort that one concludes dependency on a substance or habit Just as it is difficult for strong winds to uproot a deeply rooted baobab tree

Or destruct a stone and mortar house, It occurs but it is difficult.

I make a conscious decision to choose joy

The appendix that enables me to pre-sort matters out, Rationally and in alphabetical order.

It is my added sense; The addendum acquired

Because of a relationship fed and cultivated. Contract's clauses have been set Due to my faith and acts thereof;

His goodness, his mercy, his promise, They are the cause and

The reason that not emotion, nor sensation, Not feeling, nor temperament Neither moment, nor condition Neither happening, nor fact; No state of welfare can alter

The meticulous architecture of the spirit.

A spirit that has been bathed continuously In such a manner that steam Opens the plots of the skin To take in the nutrients,

The life that water provides. One could never thirst with such bathing

I make a conscious effort to maintain

The joy I have regardless Of how much the damage cost me

Emotionally or financially No matter how bright the moonlight shines

On the mountainside. Because I trust in the Most High

I won't waver Praise Be to GOD I have his favor

No matter how deep I stand in the mud No matter the weather No matter the matter.

What is to be said about movable things.

Things that move from one state to the next. They are usually deemed unstable.

If each one of us allowed GOD to be The Architect of our spirit, we

Would not, could not be moved (it would prove to be very difficult)

And happenings would matter so much And cause would have no effect

And the gifts of GOD would not be so easily stolen.

It is quite tedious to retrieve a splinter gone so deep into the skin Just as it is difficult to separate the adhesive sticker price from the item

It occurs but is difficult.

Don’t allow the enemy to steal your time

How does the enemy steal time? Time is stolen by the enemy when you believe the whispers of failure that you can’t make it, or you will never get off of your bed of affiliation and walk again; you are too young, too old, too dark, too light, too small, too large, etc. Thus, you have given the enemy the time that you could have walked free in the liberty of Jesus Christ. Additionally, when you lack confidence, succumb to low self-esteem and inadequate self-worth, you have given the enemy the time that you could have danced in the marvelous works of the Lord, through Jesus Christ called YOU. Consequently. coins can be discovered on any street corner. However, you will never be able to locate the time stolen in not believing in the report of the Lord that proclaims that you were fearfully and wondrously created.

The Altar

In a physical sense the Altars of the bible cannot be compared to the Altars of today. However, an Altar, both then and now is a spiritual place where we encoun-ter the presence of God in a real sense. Consequently, the bible speaks of an Altar as the place where a ram in the bush was revealed (Genesis 22:1-13), corruption and stiff-necks played in the presence of God (Exodus 32:1-7), rejoicing before the Lord took place (Deuteronomy 27:4-7), intercession occurred (II Samuel 24:18-25), prayers and supplication transpired (I Kings 8:54-61), spiritual battles took place (I Kings 18:20-40), thanksgiving was seen (II Chronicles 33:16), and searched hearts departed in order to be reconciled (Matthew 5:24).

*********

Are there Altars where the people are not so tightly bound to time con-straints while in prayer? Are there Altars where knees have room to bend in submission? Are there Altars where private conversations from one’s heart are only over-heard in heaven? Are there Altars where self-consciousness evolves into public praise and worship? Are there Altars where the Holy Spirit rebukes stiff-necked busy bodies (male and female) for being spectators and not participates? Are there Altars where the flesh is overcome by the Spirit of God’s heart for His people? Are there Altars where even the prayer warriors….the leaders are slain in the Spirit? Are there Altars where the word given, is the Rhema Word needed for destiny? Are there Altars where the flesh gives way to the Holy Spirit, and flesh does not meet up again in the ministry’s parking lot? Are there Altars where the Spirit of God is allowed...has permission to tarry with His Bride in prayer?

Receive the Prayer of Salvation

Repent, Repeat & Believe by Faith: Lord Jesus, forgive me of my sins. I truly be-lieve that you died on the Cross and was resurrected from the dead, for me. I repent (changed mind and heart) of my sins. I accept You as my personal Savior and Lord. I open the door of my heart and invite You to come in. Cleanse me of all unrighteousness. I turn my back on sin and my past. I want to follow You-Jesus, as my Savior and Lord for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ Name…I pray...Amen.

In the Name of Jesus “In the name of Jesus and the power of the Blood of Jesus Christ, we break all distractions that try to come against our joy. I just want to say, “Thank YOU God”. Thank You for loving ME. Thank You for Your goodness, mercy, and grace. Your compassion fails not, new every morning. LORD Jesus, You have been faithful to your Word.

Forgive me Lord for the times I have allowed the pressures and challenges of life to rob me of my joy and peace. Father God, in the name of Jesus we come against the demonic spirits that attack the mind. We bind [forbid] the distractions that try to come against our joy. We loose [allow] the Word of God to overtake the mind from the lies spoken and heard in the atmosphere, in the matchless name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

LORD God, I just want to say... got to say, “Thank You” for the unseen dis-tractions that you have blocked. In the name of Jesus, Amen!!!”
