On 27 August 2015, Global Institute of Studies held an event called GIS Talent 2015 involving all staff and students at GIS compound area. Four competitions were organized on that day, bubur lam- buk making, karaoke, ketupat weaving and pastry making. This event was pro- posed by Mr Jimmy Tan, one of GIS board of directors which aims to dis- cover the talents of GIS students and to flaunt their creativity and skills in re- spective field. The grand prize winners were awarded with special tokens relevant to their re- spective fields. Besides that, the total number of 110 students participating in the event was also appreciated with 100 consolation prizes and 30 hampers for karaoke competition alone. This event was also honoured with the involvement of all four board of directors, Mr Jimmy Tan, Mr Looi and Mr Ng while Mr Nick Loh gave a very inspiring opening speech. In order to celebrate the students’ par- ticipation in the event, the whole event was organized and prepared by staff without involving any students in the preparation. The culinary lecturers also cooked a big pot of bubur lambuk to commemorate the festive raya season. GIS hot kitchen and pastry kitchen were fully occupied by the bubur lambuk making and pastry making participants. The grand prizes for both bubur lambuk making and karaoke competition went to Diploma in Culinary Arts students. gan karaoke dan memasak bubur lambuk

merupakan pelajar daripada Diploma

Seni Kulinari. Sekumpulan pelajar dari-

pada Diploma Pendidikan Awal Kanak-

kanak memenangi hadiah utama dalam

pertandingan anyaman ketupat manakala

pertandingan pembuatan pastri di-

menangi oleh pelajar SKM dalam pem-

buatan pastri.

Selain mengeratkan hubungan antara

pelajar dan staf, majlis ini juga bertujuan

untuk menyemai semangat berpasukan

di antara pelajar GIS.

“Menang atau kalah, semangat berdaya

saing itu yang mahu ditonjolkan,” kata

Encik Nick Loh dalam ucapan peras-

mian majlis. Semoga majlis sebegini

dapat terus diadakan di GIS di masa

akan datang.

Pada 27 Ogos 2015, Institut Pengajian

Global (GIS) telah menganjurkan GIS

Talent 2015 dan melibatkan semua staf

dan pelajar di dataran GIS. Empat per-

tandingan diadakan pada hari tersebut,

iaitu memasak bubur lambuk, membuat

pastry, anyaman ketupat dan karaoke.

Majlis ini diusulkan oleh Encik Jimmy

Tan, salah seorang lembaga pengarah

yang bertujuan untuk mencungkil bakat

pelajar GIS dan memberi ruang kepada

para pelajar untuk mengetengahkan

bakat dalam bidang masing-masing.

Pemenang hadiah utama dianugerahkan

hadiah istimewa yang bersesuaian den-

gan bidang masing-masing. Selain dari-

pada itu, semua 110 peserta lain turut

mendapat 100 hadiah saguhati sebagai

penghargaan atas penyertaan mereka,

beserta 30 hamper bagi pertandingan

karaoke sahaja. Majlis ini turut

dimeriahkan dengan kehadiran keempat-

empat lembaga pengarah, Encik Jimmy

Tan, Encik Looi dan Encik Ng semen-

tara Encik Nick Loh membuka majlis

dengan ucapan yang menyuntik seman-

gat.

Bagi meraikan penyertaan para pelajar,

seluruh majlis dirancang dan dijalankan

dengan tenaga kerja staf tanpa melibat-

kan para pelajar. Para pensyarah kulinari

turut menyediakan seperiuk besar bubur

lambuk bagi meraikan majlis perayaan

aidilfitri yang baru saja berlalu. Dapur

masakan dan dapur pastri GIS turut

digunakan sepenuhnya oleh peserta ma-

sakan bubur lambuk dan pembuatan

pastri.
