Welcome to both re- turning and new stu- dents and their parents. Our teaching staff re- turned to school on Monday and we are set for students to arrive on Thursday. As in future years, we will continue our focus on strong academic programming in both core and com- plementary courses. We are proud of our provincial trends of student success on di- ploma exams combined with a very high rate of High School Comple- tion. DHS continues to boast of one of the top band programs in the province along with many opportunities for our students to access a wide variety of comple- mentary courses and off site learning pro- grams. We hope to continue with student representation in the Skills Canada competi- tion and look forward to September auditions for our annual drama presentation to be pre- sented on the first weekend in December. This year, we will be working with the divi- sion to enhance the ca- reer focus of students. There are some new and updated possibili- ties with a program called myBlueprint; an online tool to help stu- dents explore their per- sonal interests, knowledge, learning styles, etc. while direct- ing them towards life after high school. Many of the instru- ments, such as career cruising and resume building have been used over the years, this program is a pow- erful way to connect all of these together with our school marks and course information program. Our goal will be to develop a sequence for students from grades 9 through 12 to work through myBlueprint. Our aim to is to equip students with a plan for the first few years out of high school and instill the confidence to take the next step towards it . I hope that an indirect result will help students set short term goals for course completion and marks as they see what post-secondary training is required for their years beyond high school. Celebrating DHS Students

A few of DHS Students had an outstanding summer making Didsbury proud and we congratulate them on their accomplishments!

Congratulations to Wesley Wilks on his successful showing at the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg, MB from July 28-August 13. Wesley won three silver medals and one bronze medal for his swimming prow-ess in the following events 50m Breaststroke, 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle. Way to go!

DHS students took part In Field Hockey Nationals which took place in Surrey BC July 17-25. Josh Dick played U15 Boys, Kiya Gosselin U15 Girls, and Shelbey Murphy U18 Girls. All three played extremely well with their respec-tive teams, and have been invited to National Level ID camps.

We are sure there are other students, who we are not aware of, that have also had an outstanding summer, please feel free to submit pictures and let us know of his/her or their accomplishments so we can feature them in future newsletters!
