We will see beautiful photos, watch some travel videos, and learn a little bit about the history of

Holland, all from the comfort of the Fireside Room. If you have photos or some history you would like

to share, please bring them! We will be setting aside some time at the end for personal stories. If you have any photos you would like displayed in

the slideshow, please bring them to Mary. Taste test: Potato Chip

Challenge Monday, September 21st at 2:30 pm

Hobby Kitchen

The potato chip was invented in 1853 by George Crum. ... Crum finally made fries

that were too thin to eat with a fork, hoping to annoy the extremely fussy customer. The customer, surprisingly

enough, was happy - and potato chips were invented! Come taste some

interesting flavours, see if you can guess what they are, and perhaps find your new favourite chip. Get your taste buds ready

for the potato chip challenge!

Virtual chilliwack agricultural fair Wednesday, September 2nd at 2:30 pm

Fireside Room

The Chilliwack Fair has been running since 1873, and this year they have created a virtual Fair experience that incorporates

all of our favourite Chilliwack Fair activities, including kids 4H competitions, animal educational videos, hobby (gardening,

crafting, cooking, etc) competition pictures, and more! We will enjoy some popcorn and watch the video and photo entries

for the Chilliwack Agricultural Fair.

Mary’s history corner: life in upper canada Friday, September 18th at 2:30 pm

Fireside Room Are you interested in what life was like for the early English

settlers in Canada? Before 1871, Canada was divided into Upper (English) and Lower (French) Canada. Upper Canada

was largely populated by British Loyalists fleeing the recently formed United States or by farming families who

travelled to Canada from Britain looking for promised land and jobs. Life was hard for these settlers, but they

persevered and made a life for themselves in Canada. If you are interested in learning about how early British settlers in

Canada lived, come down to the Fireside Room!

game with Ria and simrit Thursday, September 3rd at 3:40 pm

Living Room

Ria and Simrit are two young women who have been virtually volunteering in local

retirement communities. They have made a game that we will display on the Living Room

TV and that we can play along with.

Knitting Club Monday evenings at 7:00 pm

Living Room

Do you enjoy knitting and want to do this with the company of others? Knitting club is starting again,

on Monday evenings. If you’d like to join all you need to do is show up with your knitting to the Living Room around 7pm. Need supplies? We have plenty of yarn! Ask Mary of Concierge and

they will gladly get some for you.
