Were you surprised when you learned how Pilate felt about the accusaons the unbelieving

Jews made against Jesus? Unbelievers demanded that Barabbas, who had taken part in a

rebellion, be released and that Jesus be kept as a prisoner. Pilate wanted to release Jesus

but the unbelievers would have none of it.

"What is truth?" Pilate asked...."I find no basis for a charge against him. But it is your cus-

tom for me to release to you one prisoner at the me of the Passover. Do you want me to

release 'the king of the Jews' (i.e. Jesus)?" They shouted back, 'No, not him! Give us Barab-

bas!' Now Barabbas had taken part in a rebellion." The unbelieving Jews chose Barabbas

over Jesus!

"Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews, 'Look, I am bringing him out to you to let

you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.' As soon as the chief priests and

their officials saw him (Jesus) they shouted 'Crucify! Crucify! But Pilate answered, 'You take

him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.' From then on, Pi-

late tried to set Jesus free, but the Jews kept shoung, 'If you let this man go you are no

friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar.....'"

"Shall I crucify your king?" Pilate asked. "We have no king but Caesar" the chief priest an-

swered.

"Finally, Pilate handed him over to them (unbelieving Jews) to be crucified."

How terribly ironic! Jesus, born a Jew who le6 heaven to be the savior of both Jews and

Genles, was rejected by the unbelieving Jews even though He died on the cross to save

both Jews and Genles.

Thank you for being the Savior of every believing Jew and Genle who responds in obedi-

ence to your call. If you aren't a Chrisan, don't you feel you should be? Jesus died for you!

The Trials of a King

Dr. Ralph Gilmore will be debating Dr. Alex Rosenberg on Tuesday, September 27 at 5:30 p.m. central time. You

can live stream via: www.warrenapologeticscenter.org. The debate will be focused on whether evil, pain and suffering in this world are inconsistent with the exist‐

ence of an all‐powerful, all‐loving God. This will take

place on the campus of Ohio State University.

We hope to live stream this from the church starting at

5:30 on September 27. If you can join us and listen to the arguments being made, I know that our faith can be

strengthened by this time together. Feel free to bring something for supper to enjoy here. It is for all ages and

will be held in the youth room for eating ease.

Words cannot express the love that

we feel from the Southside congregaon

a6er the recent passing of Kim. She was a

wonderful example of what a Chrisan

should be in that she truly desired to serve

others out of her love for them, whether it

was at church, at school, or with our neigh-

bors and friends. As her family, we saw firsthand on a daily basis

how she constantly looked for ways to brighten others’ lives, and

she was always the same loving and charitable person with her

family as with the family of God. She truly knew what it meant to

live a life of freedom in Christ. She will be greatly missed by all of

us. We say thank you for all the kind words, thoughts, prayers,

concerns, visits, cards, meals, gi6s, and flowers that we received

during this difficult me in our lives. We know that she will spend

her eternity with the Father, and it inspires us to be beDer Chris-

ans on a daily basis. In Chrisan love,

The Wheeler family
