Ms. Flint &

Coach Majka!

Welcome to another amazing new year at Pine Ridge Education Center. I hope that you had an enjoyable summer, and looking forward to the new school year as much as we are.

Each year we strive to make improvements and offer special events for our Pine Ridge families. Our very first family event this year is our Open House, September 25, 2019, 6:00 p.m.

We are very proud to be able to offer more counseling services this year to our students. We also have after school tutoring, counseling, and bus service to take our students home in the evenings.

Our Pine Ridge family is an outstanding group of

professionals whose primary focus is always the children! Each of them brings unique talents and expertise to our school.

We look forward to seeing each of you at one of our school events, as we embark on a new and exciting school year.

I wish you all a great and successful school year ahead, and “A Place Where Every Child is Heard!!”

Educationally yours,

Dr. Henry L. Brown, III

The staff and faculty of Pine Ridge Education Center look forward to working with all of you, and allowing our students to continue to have a voice. Teamwork makes the dream work and we wish you a fantastic year!!!

“A Place Where Every Child is Heard!!!”

Pine Ridge is honored to have a great program like P.R.O.M.I.S.E. in our building that is changing students’ lives every day. P.R.O.M.I.S.E. is an initiative implemented by the District to reduce the number of school house arrests in Broward County Schools. Its sole purpose is to provide mentoring, interventions, supports, and education to students who commit the misdemeanors in

the Discipline Matrix. The P.R.O.M.I.S.E. teachers, Dr. Rambo, the Nova Counselors,

Ms. Belizaire our Social Worker, and staff work hard to ensure these students are successful here on site and once they return to their home schools. We are proud to say that we are entering into our 8th year with the P.R.O.M.IS.E. Program. Thank you to the Diversity,

Prevention, and Intervention department for entrusting a program of this magnitude to Dr. Brown and the phenomenal staff of Pine Ridge Education Center.

Pine Ridge Education Center is a school where second chances are given. We’re the only Alternative Center for grades K-6; we also house the Promise Program (K-12), The R.I.S.E Program (7), and the AES Program (K-6). Even though we are an alternative center, we have high expectations for our students as it relates to academics and behavior. Our curriculum is the same as every other elementary school in the District , but we do implement the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) standards through our Life Skills class. We teach our students if no one else believes in them, they have to believe in themselves first.

We are so glad to welcome our new cohort of RISE students to Pine Ridge Education Center this school year. Our administration team, faculty, and staff are so excited to take part in this journey as they accelerate from 5th grade to 7th grade. This pilot program was designed and created to implement the responsibility to increase student equity. In other words we want them to R.I.S.E up and become the capable and tenacious 7th graders we know they all can be while here at Pine Ridge and at their new middle school upon the completion of the R.I.S.E. requirements.
